  • Patent number: 4182379
Abstract: In a very high or very low temperature duct system in which duct insulation is terminated at selected locations so as to be not coextensive with the duct, an annular metal perforated or mesh screen support flange is used, as a low conductor of heat or cold, between the duct and an outer insulation cover to retain the end of the insulation and to support its usually very thin cover. The screen may be Z-shaped in cross section having a small diameter annular portion to surround and be secured to the duct adjacent the end of the insulation. A generally radially extending portion of the screen extends outwardly from the small diameter portion and adjacent the end of the insulation. The periphery of the radially extending portion is in alignment with the outer peripheral surface of the insulation and the outer peripheral surface of the insulation cover.

  • Patent number: 4177566
Abstract: An insolation survey device for determining the exposure of a reference point to a cyclically varying radiation source. The device employs a base member for horizontally supporting a display sheet premarked with a grid calibrated in units corresponding to the measurement being taken. A transparent reflective member is supported by the base member over the display sheet so that a reflected view of the surrounding appurtenances and the view of the display sheet, through the transparent dome, form one composite picture. In the composite picture so formed, the period or periods, if any, within the radiation cycle that the reference point will be exposed to said radiation appear as unobstructed sky superimposed onto the premarked grid. A compass is provided to directionally align the device and means are provided for orienting the base member in a true horizontal plane.

  • Patent number: 4174740
Abstract: The apparatus of the present invention comprises a vehicle having a cement carrying container and two water carrying containers. The cement container is V-shaped in cross section with outwardly, flared walls adjacent the apex of the V, and includes an auger screw conveyor inside the container extending along the V-shaped bottom thereof. The auger is adapted to convey the cement within the container along the length of the auger to an outlet opening adjacent the bottom of the container. A vertical conveyor carries the cement upwardly from the outlet opening to a third conveyor which carries the cement to the concrete mixer being serviced. Within the container below the auger conveyor are a plurality of fluffing means which introduce air under pressure to the cement to cause it to be fluffed and to prevent it from packing around the auger screw.

  • Patent number: 4174815
Abstract: A machine and method for winding coils of wire on a slotted core of an armature core assembly. The machine has a holder for releasably supporting the armature core assembly in an upright position. Rotatable annular members located adjacent opposite sides of the core have holes for accommodating wires that are wound on the core. Chucks mounted on the annular members guide the wires moving from the annular members into two pairs of slots in the core. A motor connected to the annular members with a common drive structure rotates the annular members in opposite directions to wind two coils of wire on the core. A core indexing motor drivably connected to the holder operates to sequentially index the core during the winding operation.
