Abstract: A video coding block is intra-predicted on the basis of a plurality of primary reference samples from a first set of neighboring video coding blocks. A fitting plane is determined on the basis of the plurality of primary reference samples and defines a plurality of fitting samples. For a selected directional intra prediction mode, a plurality of secondary reference samples are generated on the basis of the plurality of primary reference samples and the plurality of fitting samples. The secondary reference samples are located in a second set of neighboring video coding blocks. The sample values of the current video coding block are predicted on the basis of the plurality of primary reference sample values and the plurality of secondary reference sample values.

  • Patent number: 10951911
Abstract: A decoding method and apparatus are provided. A first candidate having a first motion vector that has been used to decode a first block, a first prediction direction that corresponds to the first motion vector, and a first reference picture index that identifies a first reference picture is derived. A second candidate having a second motion vector that has been used to decode a second block, a second prediction direction that corresponds to the second motion vector, and a second reference picture index that identifies a second reference picture is derived. When a total number of candidates is less than a maximum number, a third candidate is derived by combining the first motion vector and the first reference picture index for the first prediction direction of the first candidate and the second motion vector and the second reference picture index for the second prediction direction of the second candidate.

  • Patent number: 10929663
Abstract: A system for identifying ponding water located on a field from image data is described. In an approach, an image of an agricultural field is analyzed using a classifier that has been trained based on the spectral bands of labeled image pixels to identify a probability for each pixel within the image that the pixel corresponds to water. A flow simulation is performed to determine regions of the field that are likely to pool water after rainfall based on precipitation data, elevation data, and soil property data of the field. A graph of vertices representing the pixels and edges representing connections between neighboring pixels is generated. The probability of each pixel within the graph being ponding water is set based on the probability pixel being water, the likelihood that water will pool in the area represented by the pixel, the probability of neighboring pixels being ponding water, and a cropland mask that identifies which pixels correspond to cropland.

  • Patent number: 10917564
Abstract: Techniques and systems are provided for processing video data. For example, 360-degree video data can be obtained for processing by an encoding device or a decoding device. The 360-degree video data includes pictures divided into motion-constrained tiles. The 360-degree video data can be used to generate a media file including several tracks. Each of the tracks contain a set of at least one of the motion-constrained tiles. The set of at least one of the motion-constrained tiles corresponds to at least one of several viewports of the 360-degree video data. A first tile representation can be generated for the media file. The first tile representation encapsulates a first track among the several tracks, and the first track includes a first set of at least one of the motion-constrained tiles at a first tile location in the pictures of the 360-degree video data. The first set of at least one of the motion-constrained tiles corresponds to a viewport of the 360-degree video data.

  • Patent number: 10911744
Abstract: A portable CAVE automatic virtual environment system. The system uses a light weight collapsible frame with an overhead beam that is raised and lowered via a lockable hinge on each of the vertical supports. Ultra-short throw projectors are attached to the overhead beam at its lowest position and are raised to their functional position where they are automatically configured to aim at one of the included screens. The projectors display imagery on the screens that form a space around the user. The system auto-calibrates to align the projected imagery to the screens to form a seamless display across all screens. The invention significantly decreases the time and labor to set up and calibrate a CAVE system and collapses into folded parts for easy transport and storage.

  • Patent number: 10911781
Abstract: There is provided an image processing device and an image processing method for instantaneously displaying an image of a user's field of view. An encoder encodes a celestial sphere image of a cube formed by images of multiple planes generated from omnidirectional images, the encoding being performed plane by plane at a high resolution, to generate a high-resolution encoded stream corresponding to each of the planes. The encoder further encodes, at a low resolution, the celestial sphere image to generate a low-resolution encoded stream. The present disclosure may be applied, for example, to image display systems that generate a celestial sphere image so as to display an image of the user's field of view derived therefrom.
