  • Patent number: 11109096
Abstract: A method of determining a quality measure for a processed video signal generated from an original video signal. A statistical metric for a value for a set of pixels of the original video signal is determined, and the statistical metric for the value for a corresponding set of pixels of the processed video signal is also determined. The quality measure for the processed video signal is then determined by comparing the statistical metrics for the original video signal and the processed video signal.

  • Patent number: 11100343
Abstract: A driver-fatigue warning system suitable for use in an automated vehicle includes a camera, an alert-device, and a controller. The camera renders an image of a lane-marking and of an object proximate to a host-vehicle. The alert-device is operable to alert an operator of the host-vehicle of driver-fatigue. The controller is in communication with the camera and the alert-device. The controller determines a vehicle-offset of the host-vehicle relative to the lane-marking based on the image. The controller determines an offset-position of the object relative to the lane-marking based on the image. The controller determines that a lane-departure has occurred when the vehicle-offset is less than a deviation-threshold. The controller does not count occurrences of lane-departures when the offset-position is less than an offset-threshold, and activates the alert-device when the count of the occurrences of lane-departures exceeds a crossing-threshold indicative of driver-fatigue.

  • Patent number: 11089334
Abstract: The disclosure generally relates to methods and systems for maintaining quality of experience (QoE) in real-time live video streaming. Conventional techniques in achieving the QoE employ either additional bandwidth of the network or compromise on a latency of the network. The present disclosure provides a rendering algorithm to compensate for lost entropy without attempting to regain exact lost packet(s) information. The rendering algorithm enhance the QoE by regaining structural continuity of the lost packet(s) information despite variations in the end-to-end transmission channel. A segmentation algorithm is employed to segment each frame into one or more packets, so that each packet should only have integer number of MCU blocks. The rendering algorithm to identify the lost packets and to compensate the lost information. The present disclosure provides a loss resilient solution to maintain the QoE without trading off the bandwidth efficiency and the network latency.

  • Patent number: 11064199
Abstract: In a video processing system, a method and system for generating a transform size syntax element for video decoding are provided. For high profile mode video decoding operations, the transform sizes may be selected based on the prediction macroblock type and the contents of the macroblock. A set of rules may be utilized to select from a 4.×.4 or an 8.×.8 transform size during the encoding operation. Dynamic selection of transform size may be performed on intra-predicted macroblocks, inter-predicted macroblocks, and/or direct mode inter-predicted macroblocks. The encoding operation may generate a transform size syntax element to indicate the transform size that may be used in reconstructing the encoded macroblock. The transform size syntax element may be transmitted to a decoder as part of the encoded video information bit stream.

  • Patent number: 11032578
Abstract: Residual vectors are compressed in a lossless compression scheme suitable for cloud DVR video content applications. Thus, a cloud DVR service provider can take many copies of the same file stored in the cloud and save storage space by compressing those copies while still maintaining their status as distinct copies, one per user. Vector quantization is used for compressing already-compressed video streams (e.g., MPEG streams). As vector quantization is a lossy compression scheme, the residual vector has to be stored to regenerate the original video stream at the decoding (playback) node. Entropy coding schemes like Arithmetic or Huffman coding can be used to compress the residual vectors. Additional strategies can be implemented to further optimize this residual compression. In some embodiments, the techniques operate to provide a 25-50% improvement in compression. Storage space is thus more efficiently used and video transmission may be faster in some cases.

  • Patent number: 10929663
Abstract: A system for identifying ponding water located on a field from image data is described. In an approach, an image of an agricultural field is analyzed using a classifier that has been trained based on the spectral bands of labeled image pixels to identify a probability for each pixel within the image that the pixel corresponds to water. A flow simulation is performed to determine regions of the field that are likely to pool water after rainfall based on precipitation data, elevation data, and soil property data of the field. A graph of vertices representing the pixels and edges representing connections between neighboring pixels is generated. The probability of each pixel within the graph being ponding water is set based on the probability pixel being water, the likelihood that water will pool in the area represented by the pixel, the probability of neighboring pixels being ponding water, and a cropland mask that identifies which pixels correspond to cropland.
