  • Patent number: 4901958
Abstract: A method of suspending a pipe rack assembly from one or more vertical threaded shafts without passing the assembly over the ends of the shafts utilizes vertically opposed U-shaped channel members each having a plurality of transverse slots extending transversely inward from opposite side walls which are placed laterally on the shafts then slidably received one on the other and secured in the overlapped position with threaded fasteners. The vertically spaced slots in the upper and lower channel members form a circular opening which surrounds the shaft. The assembled channels are supported on the shafts by split nut members having two separable internally threaded segments which encircle the shaft and are releasably joined together on the shafts as a single unit to engage the bottom surface of the lower channel member. The split nuts allow adjustment and leveling of the assembled channel members at the proper height.

  • Patent number: 4901973
Abstract: The invention is a support base for a CRT console, the base comprising at least two stacked generally planar elements having aligned frontal margins with a corner at each end. Pivot means are provided in the corners to permit the upper element to pivot with respect to the lower element about the pivot points selectively. Anti-friction means are provided between the upper and lower elements. Restraining means assure that the upper and lower elements will pivot only at one of the pivot points. The restraining means also serve to hold down the rear of the upper element so that the console does not pitch forward and fall as the weight of the console moves forward. In one embodiment an intermediate element is disposed between the upper and lower elements and the pivot points comprise pins, one pivotally joining the lower element and the intermediate element at one corner and the other joining the intermediate element and the upper element at the other corner.

  • Patent number: 4901963
Abstract: An adjustable clamp is formed of two extrusions pivotally joined together by retaining structures consisting of a web and bead extruded as part of one of the extrusions and a channel extruded as part of the other extrusion and having sufficient cross-sectional size to receive the bead longitudinally. Edge portions of the channel define a gap wider than the web but narrower than the bead to allow limited pivotal movement of one extrusion relative to the other about an axis in the channel and to prevent the bead from slipping transversely out of the channel. One extrusion has a body portion with an arm extending from the body portion and a pressure pad on the arm. The other extrusion has a generally U-shaped configuration consisting of a bight and two sides, one of which has an edge with an extruded pressure pad thereon facing the pressure pad on the arm. The other side, which is adjacent the pivot axis defined by the bead and the channel, is juxtaposed with respect to the body portion of the othe extrusion.

  • Patent number: 4901402
Abstract: A clamping device for clamping onto a support element, the device being made of a semi-rigid material having a high coefficient of elasticity and preferably in the form of a unitary piece. The device has a peripheral portion with a geometry such as a parallelogram whereby when pressure is applied from opposite sides along the shorter axis the device expands along its longer axis. A pair of fingers are formed extending lengthwise along the longer axis, to provide gripping surfaces at about the center of the device, whereby the applied pressure moves the gripping surfaces away from the support element, and release of such pressure results in their returning into a gripping condition.

  • Patent number: 4901964
Abstract: A clamp for attaching surgical support apparatus onto the side rail of an operating table includes a clamp body having an attachment portion adapted for coupling engagement with surgical support apparatus, a fixed jaw member for engaging the upper corner portions of the side rail, a movable compression member for engaging the lower corner portions of the side rail, and driving means for moving the compression member to an open, retracted position allowing positioning of the jaw member and compression member about the opposite sides of the rail, and to an extended position in which the compression member is urged against a lower edge portion of the side rail with the rail being confined and compresssed between the fixed jaw and compression member. According to this arrangement, a compressive force is transmitted by the turn screw through the compression member against the side rail which firmly anchors the clamp at any desired position along the rail.

  • Patent number: 4899966
Abstract: The invention is an improved clip for holding workpieces to racks during alodining, anodizing and/or painting operations. The clip is constructed of a torsion spring having a central coiled portion and laterally extending tines interconnected by the coil. The coil is biased so that the ends of the tines are normally forced toward each other for gripping a workpiece inbetween their ends. A handle is connected to the coil and extends laterally away therefrom. This may be rotated in a manner so as to oppose the coil's bias, thus causing the tines' ends to spread apart for releasing the workpiece.

  • Patent number: 4896857
Abstract: An "add-on" vernier adjustment device for retrofitting to machinist dial indicator holders for enhancing measurements. The device is installed upon the articulated, multi-link arm of the dial indicator holder, and by adjusting a single rotatable knob, vernier dial indicator adjustments are facilitated in response to holder arm pivoting. Partial disassembly and then reassembly of the holder's original equipment is necessary to properly fit the device to the holder for subsequent vernier control. A rigid, box-like body is pivotally associated with a first arm link and is secured to the arm by an adjustable screw. A saddle, operationally coupled between the device body and the arm, comprises a rigid, generally rectangular, slotted member which surrounds and slidably receives the second linkage member of the arm, which before and after device mounting is functionally pivoted to the first arm linkage.
