  • Patent number: 4990082
Abstract: An improved vibrator for architectural or civil engineering use is disclosed. The vibrator includes a vibrating means which is either a conventional reciprocating or rotating vibrator, and a suction means which is integrally formed with the vibrating means and has at least one suction member to be attached to the forming molds. The suction means of the improved vibrator enables an air tight connection between the vibrator and the forming molds. The suction means is substantially in the shape of a disc with an air passage formed therein to be operated via an air pump to produce a low pressure area in the disc body. The suction member comprises at least one flexible gasket at the periphery of the disc body which is attached to the forming mold to form an ideal attachment.

  • Patent number: 4981165
Abstract: An overhead door mechanism with torsion type counterbalance springs includes a spring adjustment device comprising a housing suitable for attachment to a horizontal shaft and a gearing mechanism that allows angular adjustment of the attached end of the spring relative to the shaft. The gearing mechanism includes a toothed ring gear member adapted for connection to the spring and rotatably mounted in the housing. A threaded worm is also mounted in the housing so that it engages the teeth of the toothed member. Rotation of the threaded worm induces a corresponding rotation of the toothed member. The rotation, when conveyed to one end of a spring that is fixed at its other end causes the spring torsion to be altered without releasing the spring from retention by the adjustment mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4979718
Abstract: In a lockable elevating mechanism for the continuous adjustment of chair seats, table tops or the like, a guide sleeve (1), attachable to a pedestal (4), and a length-adjustable lockable gas spring (8) are proposed, the piston rod (10) of which is connected axially fixed but detachable with the bottom of the guide sleeve (1). The housing (9) of the gas spring (8) can be connected axially fixed, but basically detachable, with a chair seat or the like by means of an upper fastening segment (21) seated in corresponding collar (22). An activating rod (26) extends upwardly from the housing (9). In order to easily detach the gas spring (8) from the chair seat or the table top, the housing (9) of the gas spring (8) is disposed radially fixed in an additional tube (20) having the fastening segment (21), wherein one end of the housing (9) axially rests against a stop in the area of the fastening segment (21) and wherein the other end rests against a fastening element (24), detachably connected with the tube (20).

  • Patent number: 4979716
Abstract: A manually operable four-way automotive seat adjustment assembly is disclosed. The assembly includes a fore and aft adjustment mechanism together with a vertical adjustment mechanism that enables the seat frame member to pivot up and down relative to the carriage/base subassembly. A combination quadrant/lift link is pivotably mounted to the seat frame member and has a support pin fixedly attached thereto at a point radially spaced from the pivot point of the quadrant. The support pin is journalled to a mounting bracket that is slidably mounted to the carriage member so that the bracket can take up the fore and aft movement of the support pin as the quadrant rotates with the raising and lowering of the seat frame. The mounting bracket is preferably made of a hard plastic material to reduce noise and provide ease of operation.

  • Patent number: 4976493
Abstract: A plastic guide is provided for mounting a headrest to a vehicle seat back. The guide is an elongated plastic member having a through bore, locking tangs on one end, intermediate shoulders, which terminate in spaced fingers, a trim flange on the other end, and a spring finger entering the bore. The guide is inserted through a hole in the upholstery of a trimmed seat back and through aligned apertures in a seat frame tube so that the locking tangs cooperate with the shoulders to lock the guide to the tube and the fingers snap over the tube to prevent relative rotation. The spring finger engages detent notches in the headrest support post to position the headrest relative to the seat back. An axial slot in the guide permits insertion of an elongated tool to pry the spring finger out of a locking notch to enable removal of the post to separate the headrest from the seat back.

  • Patent number: 4969616
Abstract: A straight line, side opening dead end cable clamp includes a pivotally mounted keeper that is spring loaded on the cable clamp body to urge the keeper into an open position. The body of the clamp has a very low profile permitting it to be formed in a mold that has a straight parting line. A cable receiving groove is formed in the body at an angle to bring the axis of the cable in line with the supporting clevis. The keeper has an elongated cable compression member that is maintained in alignment with the cable receiving groove. A single and a double U bolt design are disclosed. The compressive force applied to the cable by the cable compression member and the cable supported groove in the body is maximum at the supportive end of the clamp and minimum at the mouth of the clamp. A double loop spring member couples the keeper to the body and urges the keeper to an open position to permit access to the cable receiving groove.
