  • Patent number: 4867635
Abstract: The invention relates to variable guide vane arrangements for axial flow compressors of aircraft gas turbine engines. The variable guide vane arrangement comprises a plurality of stator vanes rotatably mounted in a stator structure of the compressor. A control ring surrounds and is normally coaxially with the compressor axis, and a plurality of operating levers extend from the control ring to their respective stator vane. The control ring is movable laterally with respect to the axis of the compressor so that the stator vanes in a first half of the compressor are rotated in one direction so that the first half of the compressor operates at a higher pressure ratio and the stator vanes in a second half of the compressor are rotated in the opposite direction so that the second half of the compressor operates at a lower pressure ratio.

  • Patent number: 4867429
Abstract: A displacement device is arranged at an input section of a stuffing apparatus for stuffing at least one insert into folded printed products. The displacement device mutually displaces relative to one another two main printed products which have been infed in superposed or mutually reposing relationship upon one another in a predeterminate product conveying direction before these two main printed products are engaged by a transport device and further delivered to an infeed section of the stuffing apparatus. For this purpose, one printed product is fixedly retained by a clamping element controlled by a cam whereas the other printed product is displaced by a displacement or slide element in the product conveying direction. The displacement or slide element is actuated by a drive arrangement comprising an entrainment lever upon which acts a stop or abutment of the transport device during its return motion.

  • Patent number: 4868124
Abstract: An immersion tube dipping into a fluid is connected via a valve and via a 3/2-valve to a condensate line and to a working line. In the sterilization position, vapor flows through the valve and through the 3/2-way valve and the valve is in a position which is open to the head space of the vessel and to the tube. As a result, all of the inner space of the vessel is exposed to the same pressure. In the operating position, the valve connects the duct only to the interior of the immersion tube, while the connection to the head space is blocked. All components connected to the line are sterilized by vapor.

  • Patent number: 4867640
Abstract: An improved fan of the centrifugal type for bathrooms and the like has a housing with a base wall and four depending side walls. An exhaust outlet fitting in one of the walls has an integral centrifugal fan outlet cutoff. A venturi plate, positioned within the side walls and parallel but spaced from the base wall contains an inlet opening for the fan. The portion of the plate surrounding the opening is formed as a venturi. The inlet opening is spanned by a strut means to support the motor driving the centrifugal impeller. The struts have a generally T-shaped configuration so as to be removed from the portion of the opening adjacent the exhaust outlet fitting, thereby to enhance the efficiency of the fan. The base wall and one of the sidewalls contains reinforced holes for receiving the wiring. A flap in the housing covers the one of the holes not used for wiring connection purposes.

  • Patent number: 4864917
Abstract: A one moving part, bi-directional rotary displacement mechanism for conveying rotational movement about an axis to movable members in flight vehicles. In consists of an enclosure having bi-directional rotation capability, encapsulating a vane with bi-directional ducts venting from its load bearing surfaces. The vane is affixed to a bi-directionally ducted shaft, having bi-direcitonal rotation capability, extending through the center and outside of the enclosure. A conically shaped, sealed, positive stop, with load bearing surfaces, eminating from the inside radius of the housing, points toward the horizontal axis, supports the shaft and facilitates axial rotation. The vane has a radius concentric with the inside radius of the enclosure and allows sealed bi-directional rotary movement between the two surfaces. Two sealed cavities exist between the load bearing surfaces of the vane and the positive stop. Pressure to and from the cavities flows through the joined vane and shaft ducting.

  • Patent number: 4864822
Abstract: A control device for a hydrostatic drive for at least two actuators having a variable displacement pump whose adjusting device can be acted on as a function of the displacement and/or of the delivery pressure, wherein a control valve is associated with each actuator in its hydraulic supply line and the delivery flow for each actuator is determined by means of a pressure compensator as a function of the valve preset at the control valve, is simplified while ensuring accurate control. This is achieved by having the adjusting device always set the pump at a displacement which is slightly less than the sum of the actual instantaneous volume flows required by the actuators.

  • Patent number: 4865538
Abstract: A fail safe drive circuit for enabling the relay which in turn opens the valve for supplying gas to a burner is disclosed and includes a pair of field effect transistors both of which must be operating properly to enable the relay. One transistor receives an enabling input from a rectifier circuit and will be enabled only if the alternating input signal is of sufficient magnitude and repetition rate. The other transistor is turned on and off by the alternating input signal and the gas valve will be turned on only when each of the transistors is operating in its intended mode. The circuit thus discriminates against false enabling signals such as a direct current signal, line voltage signal, a non-repetitive alternating current signal, or other spurious signal.

  • Patent number: 4865517
Abstract: A plastic blower including a clam shell housing. The clam shell members of the housing are sealed together by means of a groove in the edge of one of the clam shell members and a tongue formed on the edge of the other clam shell member. A strip of flexible sealing material is disposed in the groove and is compressed therein by engagement with the protruding tongue. The spaced between the tongue and the walls of the groove converges toward the open end of the groove, whereby an increase or decrease of pressure within the housing relative to the ambient pressure causes the sealing strip to be further wedged into the space, thereby increasing the effectiveness of the seal.
