  • Patent number: 4875404
Abstract: A fluid actuator having a piston, a pair of springs, a pair of cams, and a pair of cam followers mounted in a housing. A normally open valve is coupled to the actuator output shaft for actuation. When fluid pressure is applied to the piston, the springs are compressed, and the cam followers are moved down to permit the cams to rotate away from each other, thereby reducing the force on the actuator output shaft and permitting the valve to open. When fluid pressure is removed from the piston, the springs expand pushing the piston and the cam followers up, thereby rotating the cams toward each other and forcing the actuator output shaft against the valve stem to close the valve.

  • Patent number: 4875338
Abstract: A brake unit having a hydraulic brake booster and twin master cylinders in a common housing. The brake booster comprises a drive cylinder between the master cylinders which can be subjected to the outlet pressure of a brake valve of the brake booster which supplies an outlet pressure proportional to the pedal travel. A compensating cylinder, which jointly executes the strokes of the drive-cylinder piston and can likewise be subjected to the outlet pressure of the brake valve transmits the actuating forces generated by the drive cylinder to the pistons of the master cylinders via a rocker articulated pivotably on the compensating piston. The effective piston surface of the compensating cylinder is somewhat larger than that of the drive piston.

  • Patent number: 4873912
Abstract: A hydraulic drive system for a machine element performing in one work cycle a sequence of motions comprising a rapid feed motion, a working stroke under load and an oppositely directed rapid-return motion. The drive element includes a hydraulic cylinder having three working surfaces A.sub.1, A.sub.2, A.sub.3. Motion control is effected by an electro-hydraulic follow-up control valve with a pre-setting device controlled by a stepping motor and a mechanical actual-value feed-back device. During rapid feed motion, the relatively small working surface A.sub.1 is subjected to the output pressure of the follow-up control valve only, while during the working stroke the pressure acts additionally on the working surface A.sub.3. The rapid-return movements of the piston of the cylinder are controlled by applying pressure to the working surface A.sub.2, or by relieving pressure from the two other working surfaces A.sub.1 and A.sub.3.
