  • Patent number: 5064033
Abstract: A rotary damper is disclosed having a hollow casing and a power receiving shaft extending exteriorly of the casing. The power receiving shaft turns a movable vane within the casing to pressurize a working fluid. A stationary partition member including a dividing wall and a dividing vane is positioned within the casing and journals the movable vane for rotation within the casing. The movable vane is provided with a through hole equipped with a one-way valve and the dividing wall is provided with a plurality of arcuately spaced orifices. The orifices are positioned to be serially covered by the movable vane as it is rotated to thereby provide increased resistance to fluid flow as the movable vane is further rotated.

  • Patent number: 5062179
Abstract: A handle assembly for doll carriages comprises a pair of support rods each defining a first cog seat on an end thereof, a U-shaped angle-adjustable handle defining a second cog seat on a respective end thereof, a spring-biased cog member normally engaged between the first and second cog seats, and an adjusting piece for acting on the cog member. The adjusting piece has a pair of diametrically disposed ridges thereon, and the cog member has a pair of annular wedges thereon in alignment with the ridges. The adjusting piece is turnable to urge the cog member, resisting the force by the spring, to disengage from the second cog seat of the handle, thereby permitting a pivotal movement of the handle with respect to the support rods.

  • Patent number: 5062181
Abstract: An extruded hinge with a multiplicity of bearing assemblies spaced along its length has a pair of abutting hinge leaves with mounting portions and pivot portions with convexly arcuate surfaces extending along their abutting edges and intermeshing gear teeth extending along the length thereof. The pivot portions have channels in their surfaces opposite the arcuate geared surface, and the hinge leaves have pairs of axially offset, opposed cooperating cutouts extending through the pivot portions. These cutouts provide a center portion in which the cutouts are aligned and recesses at the axial ends thereof in opposite hinge leaves. An elongated lateral bearing member has a cavity therewithin which receives the pivot portions, and it has opposed flanges at its free ends, which extend into the channels of the pivot portions to lock the hinge leaves in assembly.

  • Patent number: 5062178
Abstract: This invention relates to a wheel unit for a slidable infant chair. The characteristic of this invention is in that there is a rod cap positioned at the upper part of the wheel unit. The rod cap has a hollow for receiving in a rod. There are two opposite U-shape cut, whose interiors become two elastic fragments, positioned in the upper side wall of the rod cap. The lower side wall of the rod cap is attached by a flanged annulus, which has fine projecting stripes around the side surface and has a splintery upward surface. In assemblage, first, insert a rod into the hollows of a rod supporter and the rod cap so as to assemble them. Then, insert the upper part of the assembled wheel unit into a fixing sleeve under an annular frame of a slidable infant chair, with the condition that the two opposite U-shape fragments spring outward for the wheel unit to be fixed in the fixing sleeve.

  • Patent number: 5058238
Abstract: A crosslink hinge for hanging a door on a cabinet has two crosslink arms attached in the middle in a scissors-like manner. One end of one of the crosslink arms is coupled directly to the cabinet-related part of the hinge, which can be fastened on a mounting plate to the cabinet, and one end of the other crosslink arm is coupled directly to the door-related part which is a cup which can be set in a mortise in the door, and at the other end they are coupled indirectly each by a link to the other part of the hinge. The crosslink arm that is directly pivoted at one end on the door-related hinge part is formed by two flanges disposed parallel to one another at a distance apart and joined together at least section-wise by a web to form a channel shape. The hinge furthermore contains a closing mechanism urging it resiliently into the closed position.

  • Patent number: 5058411
Abstract: A method for controlling the dimension of a reinforced metal matrix composite structure is taught. The structure is annular and the method is to render the structure non-round where the initial structure is essentially round. The cure of the essentially round condition is accomplished by forming a solid mandril very slightly smaller in dimensions than the final dimensions sought for the structure. The essentially round composite ring is forced onto the non-round mandril and heated to the relaxation temperature of the matrix. Because the mandril has a higher thermal coefficient of expansion than the matrix, the method is effective in forming an essentially round structure into a non-round configuration.

  • Patent number: 5056381
Abstract: A replacement tool handle for a percussive tool includes a high strength, load-bearing rod which is inserted through the eyehole of a tool head from its upper end, a grip which ensheathes a portion of the rod projecting from a lower end of the tool head, and two interlocking members which fasten the grip to the rod. The rod includes a handle shaft capable of passing completely through the eyehole of the tool head, and a shaft retainer located at a first end of the shaft for preventing an adjacent end of the rod from passing through the eyehole. The shaft retainer forms a generally frusto-conical slug having an outer surface portion generally corresponding to a portion of the eyehole, an enlarged portion which is incapable of passing through the eyehole, and an inner cavity in which the first end of the shaft is secured. Both the handle shaft and an internal cavity provided the grip have non-circular cross-sections to prevent turning of the grip relative to the shaft.
