  • Patent number: 5088155
Abstract: Described is a single-articulation hinge with an adjusting arrangement for lateral adjustment and for vertical adjustment, the invention providing a snap-in connection between the door-side section and the frame-side section of the door hinge. Rapid assembly is achieved thereby, because the two-part door hinge is completed through simple sliding together of an intermediate plate mounted on the door side and of a frame-side base plate screwed onto the body of the furniture unit. A snap-in connection is carried out preferably with the help of a spring, which separably connects the two parts.

  • Patent number: 5088156
Abstract: A shaft lock device includes a cylindrical rotational shaft, and first and second members. The first member supports one end of the rotational shaft so that the shaft is rotatable around the axis thereof, and the second member is fixed to the other end portion of the shaft and rotatable integrally with the shaft. A coil spring, coiled in a predetermined direction and having a coil diameter greater than the inner diameter of the shaft, is arranged in the shaft along the axial direction while the outer surface of the spring is pressed against the inner circumferential surface of the shaft when the second member is rotated in the direction opposite the coiling direction, the spring is urged to expand in its radial direction, thereby retaining the shaft from rotating. When the second member is rotated in the coiling direction, the spring is urged to contract in its radial direction, thereby allowing the shaft to rotate.

  • Patent number: 5085065
Abstract: A workpiece is advanced through a succession of universal roll stands each having a pair of rotatably positively driven horizontal rolls engaging horizontal surfaces of the workpiece and a pair of idling vertical rolls engaging vertical surfaces of the workpiece and normally only rotationally entrained by engagement with the advancing workpiece. The roll stand is controlled by detecting the peripheral speeds of the vertical rolls and generating outputs corresponding thereto and then comparing the outputs to set points and generating error signals corresponding to the difference. The peripheral speed and position of the horizontal rolls are detected to establish same as operating characteristics. Finally the peripheral speeds of the vertical rolls are varied in accordance with the respective differences by varying at least one of the operating characteristics.

  • Patent number: 5084939
Abstract: A door dampening assembly for dampening the swinging motion of a vehicle door includes a timing plate, a mounting bracket, and an expandable and contractible link connected to and between the timing plate and the mounting bracket. Operator access doors on construction vehicles can cause damage to the door hinge, the door frame, or the door itself, if left unrestrained during swinging movement of the doors from an open position to a closed position. The subject dampening assembly allows the vehicle door to swing freely from a fully open position to a partially open position. The timing plate and the expandable and retractable link decelerate the door to a partially open positon, thereby preventing any damage to the door or other vehicle components.

  • Patent number: 5083411
Abstract: A stacking station for receiving empty containers stacked in superposed relationship and a stacking station for receiving full containers which are also stacked in superposed relationship are disposed side-by-side while arranged at a right angle relative thereto and adjacent the empty container stacking station is a station for filling the containers. When viewed from above the apparatus forms an angle with the empty container stacking station as the angle corner. In normal use that permits the apparatus to be used in a space-saving fashion in such a way that the two stacking stations can be set up at the end of a production machine from which articles are to be taken while the filling station extends on the discharge side of a machine of that kind for component ejection.

  • Patent number: 5083342
Abstract: A door closure delay device is provided for connection to a door and a frame, whereby the user may delay the closing of the door by actuating a pneumatic timer which is coupled to a pneumatic or hydraulic door closer. The door closer includes a housing, a shaft extending outwardly from the interior of the housing, and a piston or other means for pressurizing the fluid within the housing. The timer includes a control mechanism for setting the amount of time desired to keep the door open, and a timing valve which is normally open but closes when the timer is actuated. When the door is opened and the pneumatic or hydraulic timer actuated, the door remains open for the selected period of time during which the timing valve prevents fluid pressurized within the housing from escaping, and upon the expiration of the selected time period, the timing valve opens and allows the door to close.

  • Patent number: 5081742
Abstract: A hinge device comprising a shaft to be connected at one end to a first member, a bracket mounted on the shaft, for supporting a second member such that the second member rotates around said shaft, and wave washers held and compressed between said shaft and said support means. The wave washers generates a friction between said shaft and the second member when the first and second members are rotated relative to each other around said shaft, thus suppressing the rotation of the first and second members.

  • Patent number: 5081743
Abstract: A slider for a track, such as the track of a friction stay, comprises a slider body adapted to be slidably received in the track, and slider body includes a recess having a cam mounted therein. Rotation of the cam causes the curved portions of the cam to bear against the sides of the recess, which are thereby slightly deformed. This deformation increases the frictional engagement of the slider with the track.

  • Patent number: 5081740
Abstract: A reconfigurable slide for supporting furniture being moved on common floor coverings is described. The slide, large relative to a furniture leg, comprises an inflexible slide cup of slippery material in contact with the floor covering which evenly distributes weight of the furniture over a broad area to minimize pressure on the floor covering. The slide further comprises a replaceable and reusable resilient slide cup insert fitted to the slide cup that has a flat upper surface which collapses around a furniture leg placed thereon, providing resistance to sliding of the leg on the insert. The resilient slide cup is made of closed-cell rubber that does not accumulate furniture damaging moisture and, with its increased density, provides better support of furniture than does sponge rubber.

  • Patent number: 5079799
Abstract: There is disclosed a hinge assembly that has a pintle and two plates that can rotate about the axis of the pintle. The first plate is irrotatably affixed to the pintle. The second plate is part of a friction element which also includes a band having a plurality of turns helically disposed about the pintle. Between the other end of the band and the second plate there is a spring that tightens the band about the pintle. The band is flexible enough so that it does not grip the pintle without the force of the spring. Frictional force is developed between the band and the pintle that opposes movement of the second plate in a direction that tends to tighten the band about the pintle. Movement of the second plate in the opposite direction tends to loosen the band's grip on the pintle so that very little frictional force is developed.
