  • Patent number: 4690084
Abstract: A lightweight embroidered puffed design fabric (10) having puffed design elements (E) formed in a prescribed embroidered design (C) is disclosed. The design fabric includes a front fabric (A) on which the design is formed and a lightweight back fabric (B). The front and back fabrics are united by embroidery stitching (14) which forms a preshrink design pattern D for the puffed elements. Back fabric (B) is a gauze-type fabric which includes a relatively low count of highly shrinkable cotton weft and warp yarns (22, 24) loosely woven to form an open mesh 20 to facilitate full and uniform shrinking of the back fabric relative to said front fabric. Excess in the face of the front fabric forms puffed design elements (30, 32) in a manner controlled by preshrink design pattern D. In accordance with the method, front and back fabrics are united in composite fabric (11) by embroidering preshrink embroidered pattern (D) on front fabric (A).

  • Patent number: 4685179
Abstract: An air processing apparatus is disclosed having a feed roll pulling yarn from a source and feeding it to an air entangler at a feed rate. The yarn is entangled by a high pressure air stream in the air entangler, and a delivery roll pulls the yarn from the entangler at a delivery rate. The rolls are driven independently and independent controls are provided to independently vary the feed rate and the deliver rate to achieve a desired overfeed or underfeed of the yarn. A display shows the ratio of the feed rate to the delivery rate. A slub making apparatus feeds yarn to the entangler from a second source of yarn and includes a tensioner for tensioning the yarn as it is fed to the air entangler. An actuator selectively releases tension on the yarn from the second source so that it is rapidly overfed and the air entangler produces a slub in the entangled yarn.

  • Patent number: 4675957
Abstract: An apparatus for entangling filamentary yarns comprises first and second blocks which are positionable in mutually superimposed relationship. Each block includes a plurality of channels and a plurality of fluid ports. The channels are located so that when the blocks are in superimposed relationship, respective ones of the channels are aligned to define yarn passages through which yarns can be fed. The fluid ports communicate with the yarn passages and are communicable with pressurized fluid to create a turbulent fluid flow within respective ones of the yarn passages for entangling the yarns. A motor actuated mechanism separates the first and second blocks to provide simultaneous and immediate access to the interior of the yarn passages. When the blocks are separated, the yarns can be continually fed therethrough to pull trash through the yarn passages. Each block includes a base section and a head section removably attached thereto.

  • Patent number: 4673114
Abstract: Each hanger arm includes a stub shaft with a locking notch immediately adjacent. Elongated extender arms, one for each hanger arm, each include a hollow end which can be received onto a locking stub shaft and have detent parts to be snapped into the adjacent locking notch. To release an extender arm from the hanger body, it is swung outwardly and upwardly a slight amount, which removes the detent from the notch allowing the extender arm to be pulled off the hanger body stub shaft. The outer end of an extender arm may be provided with a similar stub shaft enabling a second extender arm to be releasably locked to a first extender arm providing further total arm length.

  • Patent number: 4670953
Abstract: A method and device for forming a warp beam of uniform diameter by feedback control of winding tension, in which a signal obtained from local winding tensions, each corresponding to a tension of a yarn at a certain widthwise position, are utilized for adjusting the position and width of a reed so that distribution of the warp on the beam is improved and an intra-beam diameter difference is compensated. One of the signals obtained from the local winding tensions is utilized for adjusting the rotational speed of rollers so that an inter-beam diameter difference is compensated. Thus, a warp beam without intra- or inter-beam diameter difference can always be produced.

  • Patent number: 4669159
Abstract: In an arrangement for the stretching and warping of thermoplastic warp threads, in particular polyester threads, there is provided an arrangement comprising a set of feeding rollers, a heating arrangement and a set of take-off rollers. The latter set of rollers has a higher circumferential speed than the former. Between the two sets of rollers there is provided at least one deflecting roller. The circumferential surface of this deflecting roller is divided into a heatable section and a relatively non-heatable section. The deflecting roller is rotatable from an operating position, in which the deflecting surface comprises the heatable surface portion, into a rest position wherein the deflecting surface presented is the non-heatable portion. In this way, the length of the thread exposed to heat can be extended between the feeding and take-off rollers without overheating of thread during the stopping of the arrangement. Other aspects of the mode of the process are also described herein.
