  • Patent number: 9578640
Abstract: Disclosed is a method and corresponding apparatus to make use of hybrid-ARQ repetition factors as a way to differentiate service quality to various mobile terminals. Depending on a mobile terminal's subscription service class, such as the mobile terminal's PLMN, the mobile terminal may be made to use a particular hybrid-ARQ repetition factor. For instance, a mobile terminal of a high service class may be made to use a low hybrid-ARQ repetition factor, which may help the mobile terminal experience less downlink transmission delay and thus a higher downlink data rate. Whereas, a mobile terminal of a low service class may be made to use a high hybrid-ARQ repetition factor, which may cause the mobile terminal to experience more downlink transmission delay and thus a lower downlink data rate, and may further free up downlink transmission resources to facilitate better service for other mobile terminals.

  • Patent number: 9578565
Abstract: A source macro base station exchanges user data with a wireless communication device using an enhanced Radio Frequency (RF) service and receives RF measurement data from the wireless communication device. The RF measurement data is processed using a hysteresis parameter to detect a pico handover event to a target pico base station, and in response, determine if the target pico base station supports the enhanced RF service, and if the target pico base station does not support the enhanced RF service, the hysteresis parameter is modified to inhibit a pico handover to the target pico base station. The RF measurement data is processed to detect a macro handover event to a target macro base station, and in response, the hysteresis parameter is modified to drive a macro handover to the target macro base station if the target macro base station supports the enhanced RF service.

  • Patent number: 9578522
Abstract: Systems and methods generate corrected channel transfer functions by cross-correlation nulling. In an example system, a first receiver node (which may be a wireless base station) receives first expected reference signal information associated with an interfering transmitter node (which may be a wireless user equipment) and creates a correction matrix based on the first expected reference signal information associated with the interfering transmitter node and on second expected reference signal information associated with an intended transmitter node. The correction matrix can then be applied to an estimated channel transfer function associated with a received transmission from the intended transmitter node to generate a corrected channel transfer function associated with the received transmission from the intended transmitter node. The first receiver node can use the corrected channel transfer function in decoding received transmissions including, for example, use in performing interference resolution.

  • Patent number: 9519672
Abstract: In an embodiment, a computing device determines sensor signals detected by one or more sensors of the computing device. The sensor signals indicate motion of the computing device. The computing device selects one of a plurality of activity categories that corresponds to a portion of the sensor signals, each of the activity categories including one or more activity types. The activity types in each activity category are characterized by a common motion corresponding to the portion of the sensor signals. One of the activity types in the selected activity category is determined by analyzing the sensor signals with respect to each of the activity types in the selected activity category, and calculating a probability of each of the activity types. The determined activity type is displayed on the computing device.
