  • Patent number: 4221027
Abstract: Disclosed is a lockable slider for a slide fastener in which but a single spring is provided on the fore thereof that has double functions to urge a cylindrical member upwardly for enabling the rotation thereof by a separate key and to simultaneously bias the fore end of a locking lever pivotally supported at its middle upwardly to pivot it in such a way to intrude a locking pawl formed at the rear end thereof into engagement with fastener elements, thus locking the slider relative thereto. The lockable slider thus permits to be the more compact in its rear, rendered itself the more attractive in appearance compared with the prior art slider equipped with two springs, one on the fore and the other on the rear thereof.

  • Patent number: 4218903
Abstract: A lock mechanism particularly for doors having a narrow stile, wherein a unique arrangement of components provides greater security and facilitates manufacture and installation, as characterized by a heavy pivotally swingable main bolt connected at its inner end to one end of a rocker actuating lever, the end of the lever being provided with a unique escapement for the release and control of the movement of the rocker arm by an associated manually rotatable key-actuated cam extension, to move the main bolt between locked and unlocked positions. An important feature of the escapement resides in a unique arrangement of parts which is not critical as to the dimensions of the actuating cam extension, and which readily accommodate to actuating cams that may vary materially in their dimensions. The escapement also enables a better and more symmetrical resolution of the operating forces and the obtainment of maximum security.

  • Patent number: 4217925
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a locking mechanism for closing the gas line in an automobile, said locking mechanism comprising a tumbler lock engaged to a rotary valve adapted for insertion into a fuel line. The valve itself comprises a rectangular body having a transverse circular opening formed therein across which the fuel flow communicates. Installed in the transverse opening is a rotary planar vane being rotatable to a first position uncovering the inlet and outlet ports of the circular opening and conformed on its exterior edges to the opening periphery, said vane having stand-offs on the bottom thereof for providing a communicating path for the gasoline and being rotatable to a second position closing off the communicating path. In the last position the thickness of the vane blocks the passage of gasoline thus precluding unauthorized use of the automobile. It is contemplated that the foregoing lock be installed in the floor surface of the automobile, the valve extending therefrom being placed into the fuel line.

  • Patent number: 4216866
Abstract: This invention relates to an apparatus for racking sheet materials characterized by an open-sided generally box-like rack having opposed sets of horizontally-disposed guiderails arranged in stacked relation one above the other to define tray tracks along the inside of the front and rear walls thereof. Slat-bottomed double-ended trays are mounted on the tracks for independent movement from a retracted position essentially centered within the rack to either one of two extended positions overhanging a side of the latter. Tray transfer means are provided for each tray accessible in the center of one end of the rack operative upon actuation, to drive a particular tray in either direction between its retracted and extended positions. A tool carriage is mounted on vertically-disposed tracks on the end of the rack with access to the tray transfer means for movement therealong into alignment with any of the tray transfer means.
