  • Patent number: 5541846
Abstract: Information to set up various audit procedures is input through an operator terminal (10) to an audit revision processor (120). The audit revision processor creates various audit points by creating an audit point identification and the various audit parameters including identification of an item on which the audit is performed, the nature of the defects sought by the audit, any test fixtures used in the audit, standards, dimensions, or tolerances against which the item is tested, and the like. Once a series of audit points are created, the operator uses a video monitor (12) and a mouse (14) in a point and shoot manner to identify a selected audit from an audit look-up table (40) which retrieves a corresponding audit point identification. The audit point identification is supplied to memories (42, 50, 60) which provide corresponding information for display on the monitor (12) and which provides an initial address information to a sampling matrix (80).

  • Patent number: 5539755
Abstract: Extended error protected communication system. An extended consumer communication system uses a signal that is error protected by a block code. The generator polynomial isG.sub.n (x)=g.sub.o (x) . . . g.sub.n (x)which is factorizable, and each of the factors implement a linear and systematic code. Generally, each of the factors adds redundancy and raises the level of error protection. In this way, redundancy that is associated to a later term of the sequence occupies code positions that are protected by at least one earlier term in the sequence and may in consequence be used for positioning data that is protected by such earlier term, upon surrender of such higher protection level.

  • Patent number: 5537344
Abstract: A convolution of input data S.sub.0 and a Gabor function G.sub..alpha.,.omega. is implemented by a processing unit (20) to obtain a wavelet coefficient T.sub.g (2.sup.0,b) of a 0th stage. The input data S.sub.0 is applied to a low-pass filter (30) and is subjected to Gaussian-type filtering so as to be converted into input data S.sub.1 for a 1st stage. The frequency of the high-frequency components of this input data is halved by this filtering. A convolution of this input data S.sub.1 and a Gabor function G.sub..alpha. /3,2.omega./3 is implemented by a processing unit (21) to obtain a wavelet coefficient T.sub.g (2.sup.1,b) of the 1st stage. In the convolution of the 1st stage, the sampling interval is twice that of the 0th stage. Thenceforth, and in similar fashion, the sampling interval in processing operations of subsequent stages is doubled from one stage to the next. As a result, there is no increase in the amount of processing in each stage and a coefficient T.sub.g (2.sup.

  • Patent number: 5537416
Abstract: Apparatus for transmitting and receiving information blocks, particularly video information, is arranged so that on receiving a corrupted information block it stores a first receiver buffer address at which the data block should be stored if subsequently successfully repeated in a later information block. The apparatus keeps track of the time taken to receive a requested repeat information block and on receiving the later information block at the predicted time, and on determining that it is uncorrupted, stores the data in the receiver buffer at the stored buffer address. Such apparatus can allocate received, repeated and non-repeated data blocks to their correct relative positions within the receiver buffer without the need for numbering of the data blocks on transmission giving a consequential reduction in the size of the data blocks being transmitted.

  • Patent number: 5537345
Abstract: An input register holds, as an input operand to be square rooted, a floating-point number with an exponential radix is 2. An approximation of the reciprocal of a square root is retrieved from a table information store unit by an address composed of a least significant bit of an exponent and upper bits of a mantissa provided from the input register. The mantissa, with a leading bit appended, is normalized by a normalization circuit in units of two bits. An output of a remainder hold circuit in which a 0th remainder serves as a normalized operand is multiplied by a retrieved approximation to find a partial square root. Partial square roots found in iterative calculations are merged by a digit place alignment circuit and an adder. By making use of an inverter, a multiplicand generator, and an (R+S.times.

  • Patent number: 5535128
Abstract: A hierarchical control PLD system controls deposition processes by feedback means, for industrial production of tribological thin films. PLD process system identification, intelligent feedback control architecture, and implementation for ultraviolet pulsed laser deposition processes are provided. This system has three levels of feedback control. The first level of feedback control improves the precision and tracking of sub process variables by linear observer based compensator control. The Mo I plume species density per laser pulse and bulk substrate thickness by the quartz crystal micro balance provide real time sub process data to the observer. The observer based compensator then directly calculates laser energy density per pulse and pulse repetition rate based on the current values predicted by the linear model. The second level consists of a dynamical system design algorithm and nonlinear process map.

  • Patent number: RE35302
Abstract: A magnetic disc apparatus wherein off-track quantities are stored with regard to reference servo tracks formed circularly in divided data areas on a magnetic disc and, at the time of displacing the magnetic head, the head is shifted an extent of the stored off-track quantity after being once positioned by a head position detector. Gradients of the off-track quantities corresponding to tracks at individual temperatures in the apparatus are previously stored and, after the actual temperature is detected by means of a temperature sensor, the off-track quantity relative to the reference servo track is corrected in accordance with the gradient of the off-track quantity to the relevant track at the detected temperature, whereby just tracking is achieved. The magnetic head can be positioned exactly with respect to a desired data track while the head displacement time is shortened.
