  • Patent number: 11561764
Abstract: Implementations described herein relate to transitioning a computing device between operating modes according to whether the computing device is suitably oriented for received non-audio related gestures. For instance, the user can attach a portable computing device to a docking station of a vehicle and, while in transit, wave their hand near the portable computing device in order to invoke the automated assistant. Such action by the user can be detected by a proximity sensor and/or any other device capable of determining a context of the portable computing device and/or an interest of the user in invoking the automated assistant. In some implementations location, orientation, and/or motion of the portable computing device can be detected and used in combination with an output of the proximity sensor to determine whether to invoke the automated assistant in response to an input gesture from the user.

  • Patent number: 11531451
Abstract: A morphing interface system updates, that is, morphs, a display on a client device as a user provides portions of input. The system receives a first portion of user input and selects an intent related to a predicted intent of the user that matches or can be associated with the portion of user input. The system displays an interface associated with the intent at the client device. The system additionally extracts entity values associated with execution of the intent from the first portion of the user input. As the user provides additional portions of input, the morphing interface system reevaluates the user input and determines whether the user input still indicates the same user intent, and thus the same intent for execution. Upon determining that the additional input indicates a different user intent, the system updates the display to show an interface associated with the new intent.

  • Patent number: 11481676
Abstract: In an example embodiment, a process is introduced into a machine learned model where additional results are output by the machine learned model in addition to those results that would be obtained through use of the trained model itself. In some example embodiments, these additional results may be random or semi-random to introduce results that might otherwise not have been recommended by the machine learned model. By introducing such additional results in a controlled way, it becomes possible to reduce biases caused by a self-reinforcing feedback loop while still presenting users with accurate machine learned model results.
