Abstract: Methods and apparatus for selection of radio access technology (RAT) based on device usage patterns are provided. A User Equipment (UE) obtains information relating to one or more Quality of Service (QoS) metrics for communication of data by the UE. The UE designates a Radio Access Technology (RAT) from a plurality of available RATs as a preferred RAT for the communication, based on the obtained information.
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for allocating multi-user communication resources to one or more stations for uplink data transmissions are provided. In one aspect, a method for allocating multi-user communication resources to one or more stations for uplink data transmissions is provided. The method comprises generating a request frame requesting an uplink buffer report from each of the one or more stations, the request frame selectively requesting that the uplink buffer report indicate either an amount of data in an uplink buffer or a requested amount of time to transmit the data in the uplink buffer. The method comprises transmitting the request frame to each of the one or more stations. The method comprises receiving the uplink buffer report in a report frame from each of the one or more stations.

Abstract: A method for configuring a cluster for a terminal device in a wireless network. The method is performed at a network node, such as a base station or a radio network controller. Abstract: Methods and network devices are disclosed for multicast traffic steering in a communications network. In one embodiment, a method includes receiving, at a node in a network, a multicast message comprising an incoming message bit array and a tree identifier value. The embodiment further includes selecting a bit indexed forwarding table stored at the node and corresponding to the tree identifier value, accessing within the selected forwarding table an entry corresponding to an intended destination node for the message, and forwarding, to a neighboring node identified in the accessed entry, a copy of the message comprising a forwarded message bit array in place of the incoming message bit array. An embodiment of a network device includes one or more network interfaces and a processor adapted to perform steps of the method.
Abstract: The present disclosure pertains to systems and methods for generation of a physical and logical design of a software defined network (SDN). In one embodiment, a system may receive a plurality of user-provided parameters associated with a plurality of performance requirements of the SDN. A library may include performance metrics of a plurality of devices comprised in the SDN. An SDN design subsystem may generate the physical and logical design of the SDN based on the user-provided parameters and the performance metrics of the devices in the library. A traffic routing subsystem may generate a plurality of communication flows based on the logical design of the physical and logical design and to be implemented by the SDN. An SDN simulation subsystem may generate an assessment of the physical and logical design of the SDN and the plurality of communication flows in comparison to the user-provided parameters.

Abstract: Systems and methods of reducing transmission time are described. Uniform-sized original packets are generated from a data frame having a payload with an identifier and data. The packets include the identifier, total block number, block index that specifies an order of the packet, and the data. The packets are encoded to form redundant packets with the identifier, block number, block index and redundant data. The available block index for the original and redundant packets are different. The packets are transmitted by individual modems over different channels at transmission rates that are each configured to minimize free space in an input buffer of the modem and are dependent on feedback from the receiver. The feedback indicates a difference between the transmission rate and a reception rate. The encoding rate is dependent on the original packets over the original and redundant packets or a maximum transmission rate over the remaining transmission rates.
Abstract: A system for private networking within a virtual infrastructure is presented. The system includes a virtual machine (VM) in a first host, the VM being associated with a first virtual network interface card (VNIC), a second VM in a second host, the second VM being associated with a second VNIC, the first and second VNICs being members of a fenced group of computers that have exclusive direct access to a private virtual network, wherein VNICs outside the fenced group do not have direct access to packets on the private virtual network, a filter in the first host that encapsulates a packet sent on the private virtual network from the first VNIC, the encapsulation adding to the packet a new header and a fence identifier for the fenced group, and a second filter in the second host that de-encapsulates the packet to extract the new header and the fence identifier.

Abstract: Various aspects related to control channel (e.g., PSCCH) scheduling/prioritizing techniques in wireless communications are described. When a UE may not be able to decode various PSCCH transmissions detected in a subframe, a subset of the PSCCHs may be selected for decoding based on the described methods. In accordance with one aspect, a UE may determine that a total number of PSCCH transmissions in a subframe is greater than a number of PSCCH transmissions that can be decoded within the subframe. Upon such a determination, the UE may select at least one PSCCH transmission in the subframe for decoding based on at least one of: retransmission information, information regarding a transmitting UE associated with the at least one PSCCH transmission, or scheduling priority history associated with a sub-channel carrying the at least one PSCCH transmission. The UE may then decode the at least one PSCCH transmission selected for decoding.

Abstract: Control parameters can be used to enable or disable new radios (NR) of mobile devices and preserve battery life. For example, the control parameters can comprise a scan timer and a sleep timer. A mobile device can decode a network message, turn on an NR, and enable the scan timer. If an NR cell is available, the mobile device can enter LTE-NR dual connectivity mode in response to the network message. Conversely, when the scan timer expires, the mobile device can turn off the NR radio, and enable the sleep timer to preserve the mobile device battery. When the sleep timer expires, the mobile device can turn on the NR radio and enable the scan timer.
