  • Patent number: 10827431
Abstract: A wireless communication device may operate in different power modes based at least on a decoding of a Physical Data Control Channel (PDCCH). The wireless communication device may operate its receiver front end circuitry (RX AFE) in any one of a number of different power modes, and may switch to operating the RX AFE in a different power mode based at least on decoding of the PDCCH. The transmit leakage does not need to be monitored, and the wireless communication device may adjust/adapt the sensitivity and linearity of its RX AFE based on PDCCH decoding and in some cases based additionally on one or more metrics, to reduce power consumption. The different power modes may correspond to different respective combinations of sensitivity level and linearity level at which the RX AFE is operating.

  • Patent number: 10819477
Abstract: Digital wireless distributed communications systems (WDCS) employing a centralized spectrum chunk construction of communications channels for distribution to remote units are disclosed. Individual, discrete communications channels received from one or more signal sources are centrally constructed into spectrum chunks before being distributed to remote units. When the communications channels are constructed into spectrum chunks, the individual communications channels are positioned in their respective defined center radio frequency (RF) frequencies of their respective communications band before being distributed to the remote units. Thus, the remote units do not have to include the additional cost and associated power consumption of processing circuitry to construct the communications bands for individual communications channels.

  • Patent number: 10805775
Abstract: An electronic device may receive information associated with another electronic device that is proximate to the electronic device. Then, the electronic device may identify the other electronic device based on an identifier (such as a Media Access Control address) that is included in the information that is associated with the other electronic device. Moreover, the electronic device may access a pattern of activity for a region that includes the electronic device, where the pattern of activity includes events and identifiers of one or more electronic devices in the region during the events. For example, the events may include reported criminal activity. Next, the electronic device may determine an association between the other electronic device and at least one of the events based on the pattern of activity. Furthermore, the electronic device may provide a notification based on the determined association.

  • Patent number: 10798650
Abstract: A technique for implementing AP-local dynamic switching involves Layer 2 switching. This may be accomplished by providing data associated with wireless stations to an AP sufficient to enable the AP to determine whether traffic from a particular wireless station should be locally switched. Alternatively, the wireless station may be able to determine whether to locally switch traffic based upon the traffic itself. For example, it may be desirable to AP-locally switch voice traffic to avoid latency, which is particularly detrimental to voice transmissions such as voice-over-IP. Traffic that is not to be switched locally is Layer 2 tunneled upstream.

  • Patent number: 10757718
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Some wireless communications systems support mobile broadband (MBB) communications and low latency communications. To accommodate low latency communications, a base station may identify resources allocated for MBB communications, and the base station may reassign (or puncture) these resources for low latency communications. The base station may transmit an indication of the reassigned (or punctured) resources to one or more user equipment (UEs). The base station may transmit an indication of the reassigned resources in a transmission time interval (TTI) that is subsequent to a TTI reassigned (or punctured) for low latency communications (e.g., a post indication). The base station may transmit the post indication in a retransmission grant of a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) or in downlink control information (DCI) of a PDCCH.

  • Patent number: 10742469
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for determining a time offset are disclosed. The method includes: obtaining, by a device at a head end, a time-domain signal based on a received signal; and then determining a time offset based on values of peak-to-average ratios of a preset quantity of symbols starting from a qth symbol in the time-domain signal, where a peak-to-average ratio of the qth symbol is greater than a preset threshold. A new method for determining a time offset is provided, and takes advantages that the time-domain signal obtained by the device at the head end has stronger capabilities of resisting interference such as frequency offset and phase noise. The method for determining a time offset can be applied both to initial ranging and periodic ranging.

  • Patent number: 10736005
Abstract: Client devices may have internet and other services available simultaneously from a number of different networks such as wide area mobile broadband networks and local area networks such as Wi-Fi and Ethernet. In cases where a client device is receiving internet service from a local area network, the client device may still need to maintain the communication link with a wide area mobile broadband network even when not actively using its services. A method and apparatus are disclosed that enable a client device with mobile broadband connection capability and at least one local area connection capability to power off its mobile broadband modem but still be connected to mobile broadband network through the internet service which the client device may receive from the local area network. Powering off the mobile broadband modem of a client device may help reduce its power consumption.
