  • Patent number: 10681727
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described for selecting different uplink transmission parameters for transmission or retransmission of a random access message. A user equipment (UE) may transmit or retransmit a random access message such as a layer 2 or layer 3 (L2/L3) message to a base station during a random access procedure. The UE may select a transmission beam, uplink resource or transmission power for the transmission of the L2/L3 message that differ from those used for transmission of a previous random access message. The selection may be based on path loss associated with synchronization signals or previous transmissions. The selection may also be based on a maximum number of retransmissions.

  • Patent number: 10659979
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a method and device for handling a cell outage. The method for handling a cell outage includes: receiving, by a first base station, an energy saving activation message sent by a second base station when a cell outage happens to a second cell, where the energy saving activation message is used to disable the energy saving function; transferring, by the first base station, the first cell from the energy saving state to the normal state according to the energy saving activation message, or keeping a third cell in the normal state until learning that the cell outage of the second cell is solved. This method prevents a coverage blind area in the network when a cell outage happens to a second cell that covers the area of a first cell which is in the energy saving state.

  • Patent number: 10656701
Abstract: Processor frequencies can be managed. For example, a computing device can determine (i) a first estimate of an operating characteristic of a processor in using a first pair of frequencies to perform a task, and (ii) a second estimate of the operating characteristic of the processor in using a second pair of frequencies to perform the task. The computing device can select the first pair of frequencies based on determining that the first estimate is closer to a target operating-characteristic of the processor while performing the task than the second estimate. Based on selecting the first pair of frequencies, the computing device can set a clock rate of the processor to a lower frequency in the first pair of frequencies while performing the task. The computing device can also set the clock rate of the processor to a higher frequency in the first pair of frequencies while performing the task.

  • Patent number: 10609693
Abstract: A method is provided for receiving a user equipment (UE) specific reference signal based-downlink data channel by a UE in a wireless communication system. The UE receives, from a network, a downlink control channel including either first scheduling information or second scheduling information, and receives the UE-specific reference signal based-downlink data channel from the network based on the downlink control channel. When the downlink control channel includes the first scheduling information, antenna ports of a certain reference signal which can be assumed to be quasi co-located with antenna ports of a UE-specific reference signal is configured by an indicator indicating one of two or more parameters configured by a higher layer. When the downlink control channel includes the second scheduling information, the antenna ports of a certain reference signal is configured by a parameter of a minimum index among the two or more parameters.

  • Patent number: 10594450
Abstract: An electronic device communicates frames with an access point (AP) by receiving, from the AP, a frame header that includes information specifying a first set of tones of an OFDMA communication, the first set of tones associated with first resource block subchannels having a first bandwidth used by the AP to transmit a frame payload. The electronic device obtains a second set of tones associated with second resource block subchannels having a second bandwidth that differs from the first bandwidth, and receives the frame payload using the OFDMA communication, the second resource block subchannels, and the second set of tones. Alternatively, an electronic device dynamically switches a channel-access mode when communicating a frame with the AP depending on whether the communication includes a primary 20 MHz channel. In a technique, an MU-PPDU is communicated using a frame via a non-primary 20 MHz channel without using the primary 20 MHz channel.

  • Patent number: 10491356
Abstract: A communication system comprises evolved base nodes (eNBs) communicating via an over-the-air (OTA) link with low mobility user equipment (UE). A network can utilize the eNBs for cooperative beam shaping for interference nulling based upon a number of factors UE (e.g., coordinated multi-point (CoMP) optimization for feedback, quality of service (QoS), fairness, etc.). The UE advantageously transmits multiple description coding (MDC) that supports a determination by the eNBs that coherent channel conditions (e.g., frequency and/or time invariance) exists for combining feedback reports to realize reduced quantization error. In addition, the MDC feedback reports still support incoherent channel states in which each report can be used individually for interference nulling/beamforming. MDC can be performed with one codebook or a plurality of codebooks.
