Abstract: A bandpass and/or elimination filter network for electric signals, includes an input circuit (1) which has the capacity to symmetrize and adapt the input impedance, and two branches (B C) and (D E) to which two frequency dependent cells (L C) are introduced. The branches meet at a combination circuit (2) for convergence to the sole output. This network can be used in communications electronics applications.

Abstract: A distributed constant type LC noise filter includes a swirl-like induction conductor formed on a substrate at one side, and at least one grounding block conductor formed on the substrate at the other side in a position opposed to a portion of the induction conductor, providing an improved attenuation throughout a widened range of frequency.
Abstract: A four-port wide-band branch line coupler which distributes, to two output ports and over a wide bandwidth, a signal that is fed into an input port at any constant ratio with a phase difference of 90.degree., so that no power emanates from an isolated port. If a signal is fed into the isolated port, this power is also distributed to both output ports, so that no power emanates from the input port. The coupler has two identical rings consisting of quarter-wave length line sections that are connected by two half-wave length line sections and are connected, by series circuits made of half-wave length line sections with individual branch circuits connected in parallel to them, to the four ports. The circuit can be dimensioned for construction in microstrip technology or coaxial cable technology. Further, the circuit can be made of concentrated elements so that it can be used in microwave monolithic integrated circuits.
Abstract: A plurality of interdigital transducers (IDTs) of a surface acoustic wave bandpass filter, each of which has a plurality of electrode fingers arranged in a direction perpendicular to a propagating direction of surface acoustic wave, are connected alternatively to an input terminal and an output terminal of said filter. The IDTs are different in number of electrode fingers and in average value of inter-finger distance from each other and distance between adjacent IDTs are different. At least one of the outermost IDTs has a minimum number of electrode fingers and a maximum average value of inter-finger distance, compared with those of other IDTs.

Abstract: A dielectric block filter construction having resonating cavities formed therein to form one half wave-wavelength resonators thereby. The resonating cavities span opposing side surfaces of the dielectric block forming the dielectric block filter to define openings at the opposing side surfaces. Outer surfaces of the dielectric block, including the opposing side surfaces having the openings defined thereat, are coated with an electrically-conductive material except for portions of one side surface of the dielectric block about peripheral surfaces of input and output couplers formed on the one surface. Because the opposing outer surfaces are coated with the electrically-conductive material, the opposing outer surfaces of the dielectric block are self-shielding to prevent propagation of electromagnetic radiation through openings defined by the resonating cavities of the dielectric block.

Abstract: A dielectric filter assembly and mounting therefor. The mounting bracket forms a support surface and includes integrally formed strip members for interconnecting electrodes formed upon a face surface of the dielectric filter and a circuit disposed upon an electrical circuit board. Once interconnected, reflow solder connections are formed between the strip members and the electrodes and the strip members and the circuit disposed upon the circuit board. The strip member is then severed from the mounting bracket to electrically isolate the electrode disposed upon the face surface of the dielectric filter, while maintaining the electrical connection between the electrodes formed upon the dielectric filter and the circuit disposed upon the circuit board.
Abstract: A waffeline-configured, surface-mount transmission line module contains a two-dimensional arrangement of periodically distributed conductive surface mesas and channels. Within the channels are segments of dielectrically surrounded conductor. The geometry of the arrangement of segments among the waffleline channels is defined in accordance with the intended signal coupling functionality of the interconnect structure. For example, in the case of a signal splitting application, the conductor segments may be arranged in a tree-like configuration between an input port and multiple output ports. Isolation resistors may be disposed within the channels of the waffleline between adjacent locations of diverging conductor runs among the mesas of the waffleline.
Abstract: An LC-type dielectric filter which includes strip lines on a dielectric plate forming distributed constant type resonators. The strip lines and other elements of the filter, such as coupling capacitances are plated onto the dielectric plate as printed circuits to realize a small, high-Q dielectric filter which is suitable for mass-production.
Abstract: A dielectric filter having a generally box-like dielectric block, an outer conductor covering side surfaces of the dielectric block, a plurality of inner conductors arranged in the dielectric block in the longitudinal direction so as to extend between two opposite faces of the block, and a short-circuit conductor provided in one of the two faces of the dielectric block to connect the outer and inner conductors. At least one of the inner conductors has a rectangular cross-sectional shape, and the size of this sectional shape in the longitudinal direction of the dielectric block is increased at the face where the short-circuit conductor is provided, and is reduced at the other face.
Abstract: An improved stripline filter is disclosed which includes a laminate of a pair of dielectric substrates each having an outer surface provided with a ground conductor, and conducting resonator means provided between each of the two adjacent dielectric substrates and having a plurality of parallel resonator fingers each having an open circuit end and a base end electrically connected to said ground conductor, in which the ground conductor has extended portions corresponding in number to the number of the resonator fingers, each of the extended portions extending toward the open circuit end of the corresponding resonator finger and terminating with a predetermined space from the open circuit end of the corresponding resonator finger.
Abstract: A filtering cell including a resonant circuit having an inductor and capacitor connected in parallel, the inductor being separated into two identical inductors which are connected in series with a midpoint therebetween. A second capacitor is connected at the midpoint and has a quality factor substantially equal to a quality factor of the first inductor, resulting in attenuation at the resonant frequency. Each of the inductors and capacitors are formed by micro-ribbon technology.

Abstract: A network (10) for matching impedance from a first transmission line (14) to a second transmission line (16) includes a dielectric material (12, 20), a conductor (24, 26, 28), and metalization (18, 30) located on at least some portions of at least one outer surface of the dielectric material. The area covered by the metalization gradually diminishes from the first transmission line to the second transmission line. The conductor provides an electrical connection between the first transmission line and the second transmission line. The conductor provides an electrical connection between the first transmission line and the second transmission line, and is located at least partially within the dielectric material.
Abstract: A low loss reflection-type analog phase shifter circuit producing a large range (nearly 360.degree.) of phase shift at X-band while achieving low attenuation (insertion loss) and little amplitude variation over all phase states. The results are achieved, in part, by using a terminating impedance which includes parallel-connected hyperabrupt varactor diodes. The circuit is implemented readily in a monolithic microwave integrated circuit using GaAs.
Abstract: A phase shifter having a reference path and a delay path, light sources, and superconductive switches. Each of the superconductive switches is terminated in a virtual short circuit, which may be a radial stub. Switching between the reference path and delayed path is accomplished by illuminating the superconductive switches connected to the desired path, while not illuminating the superconductive switches connected to the other path.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for activating PIN diodes. The PIN diodes are formed as a switch around terminals of another device. When the PIN diodes are made conductive, they shunt the terminals of the device, operatively by-passing the device. The PIN diodes are made conductive by RF signals which selectively provide a bias level to the PIN diodes.
Abstract: A frequency equalizer is provided for suitably correcting a frequency characteristic of a signal transmitted through a signal transmitting system such as a coaxial cable and the like. The frequency equalizer has a plurality of serially connected fundamental circuits in each of which an input signal is processed by a series circuit of a multiplying circuit and an amplifier having its own frequency characteristic to generate a first signal, the input signal is separately processed by an amplifier having a flat frequency characteristic to generate a second signal and the first and second signals are added or subtracted to derive an output signal. Therefore, a desired frequency characteristic can be corrected with ease only by setting the frequency characteristics of the plurality of fundamental circuits to proper frequency characteristics. Also, the circuit arrangement is formed of a building block system and therefore can be fabricated as an integrated circuit (IC).
Abstract: An absorber wave guide assembly for absorbing higher order modes of microwave energy under cryogenic ultra-high vacuum conditions, that absorbs wide-band multi-mode energy. The absorber is of a special triangular shape, made from flat tiles of silicon carbide and aluminum nitride. The leading sharp end of the absorber is located in a corner of the wave guide and tapers to a larger cross-sectional area whose center is located approximately in the center of the wave guide. The absorber is relatively short, being of less height than the maximum width of the wave guide.

Abstract: An LC noise filter comprising a dielectric substrate, a plurality of concentrically adjacent spiral grooves provided in at least one surface of the substrate, and a plurality of inductor conductors provided in the respective spiral grooves. The inductor conductors are opposed to each other with the wall body between the grooves therebetween so as not to obstruct the magnetic path of the magnetic flux of the opposite inductor conductor. That is, a distribution constant LC noise filter having a sufficient capacitance and excellent electric characteristics without lowering the inductance of each inductor conductor is disclosed.
Abstract: A surface acoustic wave device employs in-line input and output transducers disposed on a piezoelectrically active surface. Two U-configured multi-strip couplers are disposed between the input and output transducers in an overlapped, opposing configuration in order to convolve the side lobe energy from the input transducer across substantially all of the aperture of the output transducer.
Abstract: A method of adjusting the center frequency of a SAW device by providing a substrate capable of propagating a surface acoustic wave thereon having input transducer electrode on one end portion thereof, output transducer electrodes on the opposite end portion thereof and a waveguide portion therebetween, applying an RF input signal to the input transducer and providing an indication of the output obtained from the output transducer and etching the entire device with an etchant until the indication has reached a predetermined status.
