  • Patent number: 9973305
Abstract: When the codeword level interference cancellation (CW-IC) is used at the receiver in conjunction with the superposition coding scheme at the transmitter, it is helpful if the soft buffer at the receiver is reserved not only for the desired transport blocks (TBs) but also for the interfering TBs handled by the CW-IC. In so doing, the soft channel bits of interfering TBs at multiple (re)transmissions can be combined to enhance the success rate of data decoding. A soft buffer partition method for the soft channel bits of the desired and interfering TBs in the superposition coding scheme is proposed. The proposed method has a full flexibility in adjusting the soft buffer sizes for the desired and interfering TBs.

  • Patent number: 9955446
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus are disclosed for determining accurate ranging measurements between communication devices. Various embodiments are described for recording timestamps associated with when transmissions are sent and received between the communication devices. The communication devices are configured to determine a difference in their clock frequencies and to communicate this difference with one another. Furthermore, each of the communication devices is configured to compensate for these differences before or after the timestamps are exchanged and to send a compensation indicator of whether the compensation has been performed. If the compensation has not been performed, either of the communication devices can compensate for the clock frequency differences after receiving the timestamps based on the compensation indicator. By using compensated clock frequencies based on a single clock reference, highly accurate ranging measurements are obtained using round trip propagation time calculations.

  • Patent number: 9936493
Abstract: A method for optimizing network traffic that is delivered to a client via a RAN is disclosed. The method includes: receiving, at a first node, a request for content transmitted by the client, including an indication pertaining to a first traffic optimization functionality into the request, and forwarding the modified request to a second node located upstream. At the second node, receiving the request and forwarding the request to a server. At the second node, receiving downlink traffic related to the request, optimizing the downlink traffic, and forwarding the downlink traffic to the first node. In optimizing the downlink traffic, the second node omits traffic optimization functionality corresponding to the first traffic optimization functionality. The first node then receives the downlink traffic, optimizes the downlink traffic, and forwards the optimized downlink traffic to the client.

  • Patent number: 9907080
Abstract: There is provided a method and corresponding network node for handling TTI bundling in a radio communication system. The method comprises the steps of obtaining (S1) frequency-selective channel quality information for at least one User Equipment (UE), and determining (S2) whether TTI bundling should be enabled or disabled for the UE(s) based on the frequency-selective channel quality information. By using frequency-selective channel quality information, more accurate decisions of whether TTI bundling should be enabled or disabled can be made, thus leading to more efficient resource utilization.

  • Patent number: 9876686
Abstract: The invention provides a set of mechanisms by which a wireless mobile mesh node equipped with a directional antenna may self form and self adapt its steady-state communications schedule. A link establishment handshake is carried out over an ongoing subtemplate-based discovery scan. During time not reserved for steady-state communications with previously discovered neighbors, nodes continue to search for an establish links with new neighbors. Initial and subsequent bandwidth allocation protocols may be utilized to allow peer nodes to coordinate communication opportunities between the peer nodes without impacting or having knowledge about reservations for communications with other peers. The link establishment and initial bandwidth allocation protocols may be piggy-backed for readily establishing an initial steady-state schedule with a peer upon link establishment without impact on previous steady state reservations by other nodes or on ongoing link establishment attempts elsewhere.
