  • Patent number: 9485062
Abstract: A method for configuring communication in a wireless communication system includes obtaining, at a first network node, information indicating a plurality of candidate subframes for downlink transmissions to a wireless communication device in a first cell served by the first network node. Each candidate subframe satisfies a candidate condition that relates to transmissions in a second cell during that subframe. The method also includes determining, based on the obtained information, a number of copies of an uplink transmission a wireless communication device should transmit in consecutive uplink subframes so that a downlink transmission related to the uplink transmission will occur during one of the candidate subframes. Additionally, the method includes configuring the wireless communication device to transmit the determined number of copies of the uplink transmission in consecutive subframes.

  • Patent number: 9485771
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for predicting a current random access transmission power detectable by a base station based on historical transmission power information. In one aspect, a mobile device may access a historical transmission power associated with a current state of the mobile device, with the historical transmission power based on mobility patterns of the mobile device. Based at least in part on the accessed historical transmission power, the mobile device may predict a current random access transmission power of the mobile device, where the predicted current random access transmission power is configured to elicit a random access response from a base station. In one aspect, the techniques described herein may reduce a number of power ramp steps taken by the mobile device during a random access procedure, reduce interference from the mobile device during the random access procedure, or both based on the predicted current random access transmission power.

  • Patent number: 9485664
Abstract: A 3GPP LTE protocol enhancement realizes the full benefit of proposed dynamic frequency sharing systems by enhancing current idle mode cell selection mechanisms to support Licensed Shared Access (LSA) cell selection of idle User Equipment (UE) when LSA frequency bands are reclaimed by incumbents. A paging message field, LSAUnavailable is transmitted by Evolved Node Bs for those UEs operating in an idle state. Paging message transmission is repeated for robustness. UEs are also enabled to immediately identify LSA unavailability when a paging message notification of LSA unavailability to idle UEs cannot be transmitted and/or received. A UE comprises a processor and transceiver configured to receive, on a Licensed Shared Access (LSA) frequency band, a paging message notifying the UE of (LSA) frequency band reclamation. The UE performs immediate cell reselection to vacate the reclaimed LSA frequency band and move to the UE operator's licensed primary Long Term Evolution frequency band.

  • Patent number: 9444747
Abstract: An application executing on a device communicates packet data with a server via an operating system (OS) on the device. The device receives information concerning a port mapping policy that specifies a plurality of applications. For each application, a predetermined assignable port space is defined within which an application specific port can be assigned. When the application is started, an OS specific port is assigned to the application. Additionally, an application specific port for the OS specific port is assigned in accordance with the port mapping policy. The device then translates data packets to be transmitted by the application, such that for a given OS specific source port, the device replaces the OS specific source port field of the packets to be transmitted with the assigned application specific port. The device then transmits the translated data packets with the assigned application specific source port.

  • Patent number: 9407561
Abstract: Traffic engineering vector operations that are capable of being independently solved can provide near-linear scalability through the exploitation of massively parallel processing. Optimization can be performed simultaneously on different paths in a data plane, as well as on different links within the same path (or within the same set of paths). In some embodiments, the traffic engineering vector operations include an adjustable alpha-fairness variable that allows managers to achieve different levels of fairness/throughput. Hence, embodiment alpha fairness techniques provide flexible policy execution, while maintaining excellent scalability for large network implementations.

  • Patent number: 9408213
Abstract: When a frequency channel is shared between adjacent cells in a wireless communication system of time-division duplex operation utilizing a white space, more efficient communications can be achieved. In a wireless communication system of time-division duplex operation utilizing a white space, which is a temporally and spatially unused frequency, to perform wireless communications and having frames in which downstream and upstream subframes are alternately arranged on the time axis, a network controller calculates a common split position, which is to be used in synchronization between base stations sharing a frequency, from collected information in response to a frequency sharing trigger and synchronizes the determined split position between the base stations, thereby allowing the frequency channel to be shared.
