Abstract: Techniques for managing operation on a communication medium shared between Radio Access Technologies (RATs) are disclosed. The management may comprise, for example, monitoring the medium for first RAT signaling in accordance with a first RAT; determining a utilization metric associated with utilization of the medium by the first RAT signaling; cycling operation in accordance with a second RAT between activated periods and deactivated periods of communication over the medium in accordance with a Time Division Multiple Access (TDM) communication pattern based on the utilization metric; and periodically disabling the cycling to provide an AOS period of activated communication over the medium for operation in accordance with the second RAT, with the AOS period being longer than an individual activated period of the TDM communication pattern. The management may also comprise, for example, techniques for enabling/disabling monitoring by an access terminal in accordance with the TDM communication pattern.

  • Patent number: 9998569
Abstract: A method and apparatus for handling Multipath Transmission Control Protocol, MPTCP, signaling in a communications network. The communications network includes a first node hosting an MPTCP proxy function, and a second node in a second access network. The second node receives from a mobile terminal an attachment request. The second node then sends a message to a remote database and receives a response, the response including an identity of the first node. An MPTCP data path can then be redirected from the second access network to the MPTCP proxy function. Even in cases where the MPTCP proxy function is located at or between the PDN Gateway and the mobile terminal, the second access can be made aware of the location of the MPTCP proxy function and route MPTCP data traffic accordingly.

  • Patent number: 9960946
Abstract: An electronic device includes processing circuitry configured to detect a presence of a packet transmission via a channel, establish communication parameters and operational settings of an analog-to-digital conversion (ADC) operation using a training field (TF) of the packet if the packet comprises the TF, and utilize a channel estimation (CE) portion of the packet to perform channel estimation of the channel. The processing circuitry is also configured to utilize the channel estimates to compensate for distortions introduced by the channel with respect to portions of the packet subsequent to the CE portion, obtain a modulation order and coding scheme used for the data portion of the packet, select an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) to be used for a recovery of the data portion of the packet, and recover the information in the data portion of the packet using ADC output samples corresponding to the data portion of the packet.

The transmitting radio node (12) sets up, within a radio bearer, a logical sub-channel for each of at least two identified packet flows. The transmitting radio node (12) associates an identity to each data packet of respective identified packet flow, where the identity is indicating the logical sub-channel of the respective identified traffic flow. The transmitting radio node (12) transfers the data packets of respective identified packet flow in an order over a channel in the radio communications network (1), where the order of transferring is based on the identity of each data packet.

  • Patent number: 9844071
Abstract: A method in a user equipment for requesting that a base station schedule the user equipment for an uplink data transmission to the base station is provided. The user equipment comprises a buffer. Directly or indirectly responsive to receiving data into the buffer to be transmitted to the base station, the user equipment generates a scheduling request trigger. The scheduling request trigger is configured to trigger the sending of a scheduling request to the base station if the trigger is pending at the next scheduling request opportunity, and to remain pending until it is cancelled. The user equipment cancels the pending scheduling request trigger when the data is accounted for in a buffer status report, which reports the size of the buffer to the base station, or when the data is included directly in a scheduled uplink data transmission whichever occurs first.

  • Patent number: 9838448
Abstract: A method of reducing interference between wireless networks operating on channels with different bandwidths is proposed. One wireless network operates on a narrow band channel while the other network operates on a wide band channel that overlaps the narrow band channel. The method involves communicating information regarding the wide band channel to the devices of the network operating on the narrow band channel. A device in the network operating on the wide band channel constructs a special frame that carries its network ID as well as information regarding the wide band channel that it is operating on, namely the center frequency and the channel bandwidth. The device then broadcasts this frame on the narrow band channel. In addition, this frame is protected from possible collision by preceding the transmission of the frame by protection frames on both the channels.

  • Patent number: 9831993
Abstract: A base station communicates with a terminal, for which an uplink component carrier and downlink component carriers are configured. The base station adjusts a payload size of control information, transmitted in a downlink control channel, based on a basic payload size, and maps the control information onto a search space in at least one of the downlink component carriers. The basic payload size of the control information mapped onto a search space in a primary downlink component carrier is based on a number of information bits obtained from a bandwidth of the primary downlink component carrier, and on a number of information bits obtained from a bandwidth of the uplink component carrier. The basic payload size of the control information mapped onto a search space in a non-primary downlink component carrier is based on a number of information bits obtained from a bandwidth of the non-primary downlink component carrier.
