  • Patent number: 9788327
Abstract: Certain aspects relate to methods and apparatus for reducing interference in a heterogeneous network. Certain aspects relate to methods and apparatus for delinking downlink and uplink resource partitioning in a heterogeneous network. In aspects, the delinking is accomplished by reliably delivering uplink grant to a UE, e.g., pico UE in a pico CRE region, without using downlink Almost Blank Subframe (ABS) resources in which an interfering cell limits transmission to reduce interference to other victim cells. In techniques, instead of using the regular PDCCH sent in downlink ABS resources for uplink grant transmission, the uplink grant is sent on another more reliable downlink control channel using resources configured to avoid interference with transmissions from an interfering base station. In techniques, the DL grant is sent on PDCCH in non-downlink ABS resources, but the UE employs enhanced UE capabilities (e.g., interference cancellation) to process the received control information.

  • Patent number: 9781663
Abstract: Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate efficient cell acquisition in a wireless communication system. In one aspect, a reference signal for use in cell acquisition can be constructed in a bandwidth-agnostic manner such that it contains a common central portion in a predetermined frequency band that is independent of a bandwidth utilized by an associated wireless communication system. The central portion can be constructed as a two-dimensional block in time and frequency that spans a default cell search bandwidth, a predetermined bandwidth specified by synchronization codes or other signals, or another suitable bandwidth. A reference signal can then be constructed form the central portion by tiling or expanding the central portion such that it spans the entire system bandwidth.

  • Patent number: 9722933
Abstract: A data flow is received at a network processor that includes a plurality of frames. A first set of frames in the plurality of frames are passed from the network processor to a general processor for processing by the general processor. A flow acceleration request is received at the network processor from the general processor based at least in part on inspection of a first frame in the first set of frames. The flow acceleration request is received subsequent to passing at least two of the first set of frames to the general processor. A particular frame in the plurality of frames received subsequent to the first set of frames is processed by the network processor such that it is accelerated relative to processing of the first set of frames by the general processor and bypasses the general processor.

  • Patent number: 9698926
Abstract: The present invention generally relates to methods and apparatus for precision time transfer wherein the inherent packet delay variation and possible asymmetry introduced in networks is avoided or mitigated. In one embodiment, the timing functions of a master device may be placed closer to a slave device using a Remote Time-Stamp Generator, located in the network between the master and the slave, and whose time reference serves as a proxy for the time reference of the master. Time-of-traversal of packets at the remote time-stamp generator may be used as proxies for the time-of-departure and the time-of-arrival of certain messages at the master. Such proxy times may be used to synchronize the slave with the master, particularly if the master and the Remote Time-Stamp Generator are both synchronized with a Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) source.

  • Patent number: 9615309
Abstract: Embodiments are provided to enable concurrent uplink transmissions from multiple Wi-Fi stations (STAs) to one or more access points (APs) using Interference Alignment (IA). In an embodiment, the STAs broadcast, to one or more APs, beamforming reports including channel estimation information for downlink. The one or more AP then performs channel estimation using the beamforming reports, and selects at least some of the STAs. The AP also computes beamforming information for IA of uplink transmissions between the selected STAs and sends, to the selected STAs, the beamforming information. The beamforming information is piggy-backed over downlink data packets to the selected STAs. Each selected STA then sends an uplink data frame concurrently with one or more other uplink data frames from one or more other selected STAs to the AP. The uplink data frames are configured for concurrent uplink transmissions according to the beamforming information for IA.
