Abstract: A method of small cell discovery and RSRP/RSRQ measurements in OFDM/OFDMA systems is proposed. A discovery reference signal (DRS) with low transmission frequency is introduced to support small cell detection within a short time, multiple small cell discovery, and accurate measurement of multiple small cells. The DRS consists of one or multiple reference signal types with the functionalities including timing and frequency synchronization, cell detection, RSRP/RSSI/RSRQ measurements, and interference mitigation. RE muting is configured for the DRS to reduce interference level from data to DRS for discovery and RSRP/RSRQ measurements for small cells.

  • Patent number: 10333806
Abstract: A device includes a multistage filter and an elephant trap. The multistage filter has hash functions and an array. The multistage filter is operable to receive a packet associated with a candidate heavy network user and send the packet to the hash functions. The hash functions generate hash function output values corresponding to indices in the array. The elephant trap is connected to the multistage filter. The elephant trap includes a buffer and probabilistic sampling logic. The probabilistic sampling logic is operable to attempt to add information associated with the packet to the buffer a particular percentage of the time based in part on the result of the multistage filter lookup. The buffer is operable to hold information associated with the packet, counter information, and timestamp information.

  • Patent number: 10333657
Abstract: A wireless communication base station apparatus prevents degradation of throughput of LTE terminals, even when LTE terminals and LTE+ terminals are present together. A setting section sets in each subframe a resource block in which is arranged a reference signal that is employed solely by LTE+ terminals, based on the pattern of arrangement of reference signals employed solely by LTE+ terminals. As to symbols that are mapped to antennas (110-1) to (110-4), an arrangement section arranges the characteristic cell reference signals employed by both LTE terminals and LTE+ terminals in all of the resource blocks in a single frame. In contrast, as to symbols that are mapped to antennas (110-5) to (110-8), the arrangement section arranges in some of the resource blocks, that are set in accordance with the setting results input from a setting section, the characteristic cell reference signals that are employed solely by the LTE+ terminals.

  • Patent number: 10327201
Abstract: In this invention we disclose methods of automatically configuring a wireless node when it initially powers on and seeks to integrate into an existing wireless network. The wireless node could be part of an ad hoc, software defined network. One such network could be LTE network. The auto-configuration methods disclosed herein can be executed on wireless nodes throughout their operation. In addition, the methods herein allow a node to intelligently choose which network to join when there is more than one available network. In alternate embodiments, the methods disclosed could be used to create a new configuration based on changed environmental conditions, location or node capability change. These embodiments allow wireless nodes to migrate to better quality connections if they become available.

  • Patent number: 10291505
Abstract: A computer obtains a first packet group transmitted wirelessly by a first wireless communication apparatus and a second packet group transmitted wirelessly by a second wireless communication apparatus. The computer then detects a first non-communication period, during which there are no packets transmitted by the first wireless communication apparatus for a prescribed time or longer, and also detects a second non-communication period, during which there are no packets transmitted by the second wireless communication apparatus for the prescribed time or longer. The computer then determines based on an overlap between the first and second non-communication periods whether the first and second wireless communication apparatuses are connected to the same wireless base station.

  • Patent number: 10291531
Abstract: In general, techniques described are for bandwidth sharing between resource reservation protocol label switched paths (LSPs) and non-resource reservation protocol LSPs. For example, in networks where resource reservation protocol LSPs and non-resource reservation protocol LSPs co-exist within the same domain, resource reservation protocol LSPs and non-resource reservation protocol LSPs may share link bandwidth. However, when non-resource reservation protocol LSPs are provisioned, resource reservation protocol path computation elements computing resource reservation protocol paths may not account for non-resource reservation protocol LSP bandwidth utilization. The techniques described herein provide a mechanism for automatically updating traffic engineering database (TED) information about resource reservation protocol LSPs in a way that accounts for non-resource reservation protocol LSP traffic flow statistics, such as bandwidth utilization.
