    Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques and apparatus for performing narrowband physical random access channel (PRACH) procedures in large cells. For example, aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for narrowband PRACH procedures (e.g., narrowband internet of things (NB-IoT)) to accommodate larger RTTs (e.g., up to 100 km). In some cases, supporting larger RTTs may involve a base station altering its PRACH processing by performing a two-step process of, first, obtaining a frequency domain phase offset based on an uplink signal from a UE, which provides a fractional delay and, second, performing a time domain correlation for different timing hypotheses to determine a timing offset based on the uplink signal. Supporting larger RTTs may also involve enabling a new NPRACH format that may coexist with legacy 3.75 kHz resources.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described, which may be employed for wireless communication in contention-based (e.g., unlicensed or shared) spectrum. An aperiodic channel state information (CSI) reference signals (RS) may be used for channel quality indicator (CQI) measurements, for example. A user equipment (UE) may receive signaling to indicate the presence of CSI RS and may receive the CSI RS according to the signaling. The UE may then compute a CQI based on CSI RS, and transmit the CQI in a report to a base station. In some examples, a quasi-periodic CSI RS is used. For instance, the UE may determine a different location for the CSI RS. For example, the UE may identify a periodic anchor subframe, and locate the CSI RS based on constant offset from the anchor subframe. Periodic or a clear-channel-assessment-exempt transmission based CSI RS examples are also described.

The lower-power controller checks for a waveform that is representative of a Zigbee packet prior to generating a request signal to the WIFI controller. This maximizes the likelihood that no WIFI traffic will occur while the incoming packet is being received.
