  • Patent number: 10369323
Abstract: Embodiments are generally directed to methods, systems and devices for generating and playing back a personalized state song representing a target state of a user. In one scenario, a computer system accesses biometric data corresponding to various bodily systems of a user. The computer system encodes the biometric data into data structures that are configured for modeling using an algorithm that is specific to the user. The computer system models the encoded biometric data to identify specified patterns in the encoded biometric data, and these identified patterns are used to generate a personalized algorithm that corresponds with the identified patterns unique to the user. The computer system then synthesizes a state song using the personalized algorithm, which represents a specific biometric state for one of the bodily systems, and plays back the state song to the user to induce the user to the specific biometric state.

  • Patent number: 10368532
Abstract: Applicants have identified that three critical phenotypic/genetic measures are highly correlated with transition period health and may be used in selection and breeding protocols and/or in combination with traditional breeding and marker assisted selection methods to improve predictability of transition period health. According to the invention genetic evaluations for mastitis, ketosis, and metritis have been found to be highly predictive of overall transition health. The genetic evaluations are produced by directly measuring thousands of clinical cases of mastitis, ketosis, and metritis in ancestors of a particular animal and using this data in selection. Applicant's selection criteria can quickly impact a breeders population by reducing transition cow disease incidence in the initial population and in progeny.

  • Patent number: 10342992
Abstract: A device for orienting a brachytherapy applicator implanted in a treatment cavity may include an elongated body defining an open channel adapted for slidably receiving at least a portion of a shaft or catheter body of a brachytherapy applicator. A manually engageable gripping element at an end of the elongated body is actuated to constrict at least a portion of the channel around a portion of the shaft to help prevent shaft twist and rotational movement between the elongated body and brachytherapy applicator. At least one engaging element on the elongated body is actuated to releasably engage at least one corresponding engaging element on a brachytherapy applicator. Shaft twist and rotational discontinuity between the elongated body and brachytherapy applicator are further prevented when the at least one engaging element of the elongated body engages the at least one corresponding element of the brachytherapy applicator.

  • Patent number: 10314681
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided and adapted to engage and pull (e.g., pull up) or reposition paraurethral support tissue, such as the perineal membrane. The perineal membrane intersects the urethra and vagina at the midurethra or distal location and can thus be stabilized or controlled in a manner that helps restore continence. As such, the implants can be utilized to eliminate the need for mesh or other supportive structures under the urethra that is common with other incontinence slings.

  • Patent number: 10299928
Abstract: The ventricle of a heart can be reshaped by passing a plurality of catheters from inside the ventricle to outside the ventricle through holes in the ventricle wall. Fluid-tight bags are then delivered through the catheters and expanded outside the ventricle to a diameter that is larger than the holes. A fluid substance is introduced into the bags, and the fluid substance is configured to solidify into solid pads that are also larger than the holes. The solid pads are then pulled towards each other and locked in position in order to reshape the ventricle.

  • Patent number: 10300283
Abstract: A device determines values for one or more metrics that indicate the quality of a patient's sleep based on sensed physiological parameter values. Sleep efficiency, sleep latency, and time spent in deeper sleep states are example sleep quality metrics for which values may be determined. The sleep quality metric values may be used, for example, to evaluate the effectiveness of a therapy delivered to the patient by a medical device. In some embodiments, determined sleep quality metric values are automatically associated with the therapy parameter sets according to which the medical device delivered the therapy when the physiological parameter values were sensed, and used to evaluate the effectiveness of the various therapy parameter sets. The medical device may deliver the therapy to treat a non-respiratory neurological disorder, such as epilepsy, a movement disorder, or a psychological disorder. The therapy may be, for example, deep brain stimulation (DBS) therapy.
