  • Patent number: 10646226
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for reversibly controlling a size and/or restricting the movement of a body orifice, such as a pyloric opening, using an implantable device configured to allow a distance between opposed ends thereof to be adjusted. A device is provided having attachment members and a connector portion extending therebetween and configured such that a size of the pyloric opening is decreased upon the implantation of the device. The connector can be adjustable to allow a size of the pyloric opening to be adjusted after it has been restricted. The connector can include two or more bridge portions having different lengths such that cutting a first bridge portion can increase the distance between the attachment members so as to increase the size of the pyloric opening. To revert to a natural size of the body orifice, the entire connector can be cut or otherwise broken and/or removed.

  • Patent number: 10645502
Abstract: Provided herein are various connectors that allow for translating the axial movement of an implantable hearing transducer from a first direction to a second direction. In various arrangements, these connectors form a spanning connector that extend across a portion of a tympanic cavity of a patient. One end of the connector can be affixed to the tympanic cavity, and a second end may engage an auditory component. In such an arrangement, a vibratory actuator may engage the connector between the first and second ends. Such an arrangement can provide improved alignment of actuator movement with a direction of movement of an auditory component.

  • Patent number: 10537704
Abstract: The present disclosure pertains to a system configured to manage a sleep session of a subject. In some embodiments, the sleep session is a nap and the system is configured to increase the restorative value of the nap by enhancing and/or maintaining sleep slow waves (and/or slow wave activity estimated using an EEG) in the subject during the nap with sensory stimuli. The present system is configured to enhance restorative sleep during a nap by delivering sensory stimulation to the subject during lighter NREM sleep stages (e.g., during a portion of stage N2 sleep) while still avoiding arousals. In some embodiments, the system is configured to facilitate a “powernap” by delivering the sensory stimulation to the subject in such a way so as to prevent transition into deep sleep (e.g., stage N3 sleep).
