Abstract: The handcuff assembly includes a bow pivotally connected to a cheek plate frame assembly which includes a unitized frame that is die stamped from a metal plate and which is overmolded with a polymer overmold. The bow and arcuate cheek arms engage a wrist of a person to be restrained with an envelope of the bow being defined by a conic path with an increasing arc. The bow and cheek arms have rounded inner edge surfaces. The cheek arms have reinforcing ribs. The molded polymer covering surrounding the cheek arms provide a round on the inner edge of the cheek arms which engage a wrist. The unitized frame has interlocking tabs on folded side plates of a base frame. A flat is provided on an outer surface of the bow for lining up a point of contact with a wrist. A removable lockset assembly for locking a pawl relative to ratchet teeth on the bow and including a slideable lock bar is received in the base frame.

  • Patent number: 7055351
Abstract: An electrically-driven steering lock device is provided having a lock body that, if broken while a vehicle is parked, the lock body is divided into a main body portion and a guide portion. A lock pin is inserted through a through-hole of a movable plate and fits into a fit-in hole formed in a lock stopper such that movement of the lock stopper is impeded. A locked state of a steering shaft is thereby maintained. Further, movement of the movable plate in a direction of being pulled-out also is impeded by the lock pin, and an interior of the guide portion is prevented from being exposed. Moreover, the lock pin is provided within the guide portion, and even if the guide portion is viewed from an exterior, it is difficult to learn of a mechanism and a position of the lock pin. Therefore, it is difficult to cancel a locked state. Thus an electrically-driven steering lock device is provided in which it is difficult to cancel the locked state by an illegal act, and which has a good antitheft quality.

  • Patent number: 7051561
Abstract: A mortise lockset apparatus (10) that includes a retractable bolt (20) movably supported within a case (12). A handle (18) is pivotally supported on a hub (16) supported in the case, the hub being operably connected to the retractable bolt. The bolt is retracted by turning the door handle. A lock-out mechanism (22) is configured to prevent the handle from being turned when the lock-out mechanism is in an engaged position. The handle lock-out mechanism also includes a cam (29) movably supported in the case and operably connected to a motor (30). A sliding stop (34) is movably supported in the case and is engageable with the handle hub to prevent the handle hub and the handle from turning. The sliding stop is also engageable with a cam surface (40) of the cam. The motor is configured to move the sliding stop by rotating the cam. The cam rotational axis (42) is disposed between diametrically opposed portions of the cam surface to minimize space requirements for the assembly.

  • Patent number: 7047775
Abstract: An assembling structure for the door lock includes a lever, a lock core unit, an axial tube and an adapter. The lever has a compartment and an engaging member formed therein. The axial tube provides a longitudinal slot and a transverse-retaining recession formed therein. The adapter also correspondingly provides a positioning member. Firstly, when the adapter and the axial tube are assembled, the positioning member of the adapter is engaged with the transverse retaining recession of the axial tube via the longitudinal slot so that the axial tube and the adapter constitute a combination unit. Secondly, assembling the lever and the combination unit, the engaging member of the lever is engaged with the longitudinal slot of the axial tube. Due to obstruction of the engaging member of the lever in the longitudinal slot, the positioning member of the adapter is confined and unable to return to the longitudinal slot.

  • Patent number: 7043945
Abstract: A handcuff key “universal” shank and paddle for a common handcuff is attached, in-line, with an enlarged shank extension and bow or grip of a size and shape allowing its use while wearing heavy gloves. The shank extension is sufficiently long to accommodate heavily gloved fingers between the bow or grip and the universal shank and paddle. The enlarged bow or grip of the key is generally circular to fit the palm of a heavily gloved hand, and having a variety of apertures for key rings. The enlarged shank extension defines concave finger-holds for the gloved index and middle finger. The extended shank extends outward from the hand, while the heel of the glove hand engages the rounded rear surface of the bow or grip. The double-lock engaging stem is radially mounted about 60 degrees from the centerline. The key with extended shank is reversed for double-locking.

  • Patent number: 7029217
Abstract: A fastening structure capable of preventing deterioration in the flatness of a surface of a flange portion (2) when a serration (7) of a bolt (5) is press-fit into the flange portion (2). In this fastening structure, one portion in an axial direction of an outer peripheral surface (6) of the bolt (5) is provided with the serration (7). The bolt (5) is press-fit into a bolthole (3) formed through the flange portion (2) of a mounting member (1). The serration (7) is located apart from respective end surfaces (2A) and (2B) of the flange portion (2) by first and second distances (D, C), and the first and second distances (D, C) each exceed 13% of the thickness (A) of the flange portion (2). With this arrangement, the serration (7) presses a bolthole inner peripheral surface (13) only in the region located far apart from both of the end surfaces (2A and 2B) of the flange portion (2).
