  • Patent number: 5582042
Abstract: A double lock apparatus (10) includes interconnected locking members (12) connected by a retainer pin (14). The members include arcing slots (22) and a pair of orifices (24) and (26). Each of the locking members includes an arcing slot arcing in an opposite direction and centered on the opposite of the orifices (24) and (26). The external lock members (42) and (44) insert through the orifices (24) and (26) to prevent pivoting. Removal of one of the external lock members (42) or (44) allows pivoting about the other lock member with the retainer pin sliding along one of the arcing slots (22). The pivoting motion separates retainer finger portions (20) to allow unlatching. The devices (10) may be connected in a series for providing unlocking by removal of one of a number of external locks.

  • Patent number: 5581964
Abstract: A nailer device for securing abutting edges of a first and second construction panel to a support timber or top plate includes a planar member which in use of the device is disposed contiguously relative to the first panel and between the first panel and the top plate. A further planar member is rigidly secured to the planar member and is disposed perpendicularly relative thereto such that the planar and further planar members define therebetween an elongate recess for the reception therein of the top plate so that the device is supported by the top plate. The planar members also define therebetween a further elongate recess which is disposed on an opposite side of the planar member relative to the top plate such that the abutting edges of the panels are located within the further elongate recess with the second panel disposed contiguously relative to the further planar member. Also, a fastener fastens the device to the top plate.

  • Patent number: 5564296
Abstract: A kit for converting a key-in-knob lockset to a lever handle operated lock employs the existing cylindrical lock and its associated latch bolt. The conversion apparatus employs a lever handle having a non-circular shank portion which is received in, and thus drives, a resiliently biased coupling device which is interpositioned between the handle and a rose housing affixed to the door. The existing cylindrical lock is supported within the lever handle shank portion by a dummy bible member in such a manner as to prevent forces resulting from operation of the lever handle from damaging the cylindrical lock.

  • Patent number: 5561995
Abstract: A door locking mechanism 8 is described having an espagnolette mechanism interconnecting longitudinally movable bolts 12 at the periphery of a door 4. The bolts 12 have individual deadlocking mechanisms that serve to prevent their own movement and via the espagnolette mechanism the movement of all the other parts of the door locking mechanism 8. The bolts 12 are deadlocked by the action of a bush 26 fitted within a slot 24 in the bolts 12 and applying a transverse force thereto. The deadlocking of the bolts 12 serves to compress the door 4 shut.

  • Patent number: 5533369
Abstract: A safety lock and key includes a cylindrical stator and rotor having conventional spring-loaded moving rotor pins and moving stator pins. A first rotor pin/stator pin combination is at substantially 45 degrees to a first face of the key while a second rotor pin/stator pin combination is substantially perpendicular to a second face of the key on the opposite side. The centerlines of the rotor pin/stator pin combinations pass through the center of rotation of the rotor. A housing in the key contains a moving element and emerges from the first face of the key inclined at the same angle as the first rotor pin/stator pin combination. The housing also emerges from the second face of the key through a tapered bore that receives the second rotor pin/stator pin combination. A tapered head of the second rotor pin engages a rear portion of the moving element in the housing, thus engaging the moving element with the first rotor pin/stator pin combination.

  • Patent number: 5528998
Abstract: A lock box apparatus is adapted for mounting onto mounting structure to secure a protected item thereto. The lock box apparatus comprises an anchoring plate, a door, and a latching assembly. The door is connected to the anchoring plate to provide a housing which is fastened to the mounting structure. The housing has an interior sized to receive the item to be protected. The door is operative to move between a closed position and an open position. In the closed position, the interior is enclosed thereby preventing access to the protected item. In the open position, the interior is exposed thereby permitting access to the protected item. The latching assembly has a secured state and an unsecured state. In the secured state, the door is locked onto the housing in the closed position thereby preventing access to the protected item. In the unsecured state, the door is movable between the closed and open positions thereby allowing access to the protected item.
