Abstract: A recordable and/or rewriteable recording medium for storing still picture data, and recording and/or reproducing method and apparatus therefor. The recording medium stores still picture group information for grouping a plurality of still pictures in order to manage the still picture at a group level, and stores audio group information for grouping additional audio data added to the still picture data after the still picture data are recorded. Therefore, large-capacity still picture data and additional audio data added thereto can be recorded using a minimum amount of management information. Further, during reproduction, data can be displayed and edited in units of the respective still pictures. Also, it is possible to cope with after-recording of the audio data.
Abstract: A method for playing DVD. A method for simultaneously outputting a DVD movie to multiple channels each having its own playback parameters such as view angle, spoken language and subtitle language, using a single DVD player.
Abstract: On a recording medium, stereoscopic and monoscopic specific areas are located one after another next to a stereoscopic/monoscopic shared area. The stereoscopic/monoscopic shared area is a contiguous area to be accessed both in stereoscopic video playback and monoscopic video playback. The stereoscopic specific area is a contiguous area to be accessed immediately before a long jump occurring in stereoscopic video playback. In both the stereoscopic/monoscopic shared area and the stereoscopic specific area, extents of base-view and dependent-view stream files are arranged in an interleaved manner. The extents on the stereoscopic specific area are next in order after the extents on the stereoscopic/monoscopic shared area. The monoscopic specific area is a contiguous area to be accessed immediately before a long jump occurring in monoscopic video playback. The monoscopic specific area has a copy of the entirety of the extents of the base-view stream file recorded on the stereoscopic specific area.
Abstract: Briefly, in accordance with one or more embodiments, relatively immediate feedback may be provided for out of range signals. Embodiments may include, subsequent to an edit of at least a portion of one or more received signals, compositing the one or more received signals to provide a composited signal including an edited portion corresponding to the edit. Embodiments may also include analyzing the composited signal to determine whether the edited portion of the composited signal exceeds a predefined range. Embodiments may also include generating an error indication in response to determining that the edited portion of the composited signal exceeds the predefined range. The compositing, the analyzing and the generating are completed during a time period less than a total playing time of the composited signal.
Abstract: This disclosure describes adaptive filtering techniques to improve the quality of captured imagery, such as video or still images. In particular, this disclosure describes adaptive filtering techniques that filter each pixel as a function of a set of surrounding pixels. An adaptive image filter may compare image information associated with a pixel of interest to image information associated with a set of surrounding pixels by, for example, computing differences between the image formation associated with the pixel of interest and each of the surrounding pixels of the set. The computed differences can be used in a variety of ways to filter image information of the pixel of interest. In some embodiments, for example, the adaptive image filter may include both a low pass component and high pass component that adjust as a function of the computed differences.

Abstract: A drop sensor detects a drop of a device. When the drop of the device is detected, a sub CPU allows a counter to count a drop time. When the device drops for a predetermined time or more, the sub CPU controls a regulator so that the regulator forcibly disconnects an electric power to be supplied to a hard disc, and writes a drop occurrence flag into a nonvolatile memory. When the power supply is again turned on, a main CPU allows a display section to display information indicating that the power supply is disconnected due to the drop of the device.
Abstract: A record medium is disclosed. The record medium that is readable by a computer device and on which content data that contain at least one of a video stream and an audio stream and at least one resource file that contains a reproduction control program that controls the reproduction of the content data and data used by the reproduction control program are recorded. The file name of the resource file contains information that represents a language that is normally used when the content data are reproduced and information that represents a language attribute of the resource file.

Abstract: An apparatus and method thereof determines a title of a recorded program. After a desired video content that is transmitted through a channel has been recorded upon user's request of timer recording, it is checked if more than one program is scheduled for broadcast on that channel during the preset timer recording interval based on broadcast program time information obtained from the channel. If it is determined that more than one programs is scheduled, the title of the recorded desired video content is determined on the basis of time length, data size, and/or minimum ratio.
Abstract: A method is disclosed for recording steps performed in a computer environment to produce an electronic demonstration movie. The method includes recording at least one screen shot corresponding to at least one of the steps using a still motion recorder. The method also monitors the steps for the presence of detail criteria. In response to the detection of detail criteria in the steps, the still motion recorded is paused and a video recorder is initiated for recording full motion video clips of a detailed process. In response to the end of the detail criteria, the video recorder is paused and the still motion recorder is re-instated in response to the pausing of the video recorder. The recorded screen shots and recorded full motion video are then compiled into an electronic demonstration movie.
Abstract: There are provided an information storage medium capable of real-time recording/playback of digital moving picture information, and a digital information recording/playback system using this medium. In a medium that records/plays back data including video data and control information, the control information (DA21 in FIG. 4; RTR_VMG in FIG. 30) includes information (VOBU entry in FIG. 31) for accessing a specific portion (VOBU) of the video data.

Abstract: An information recording medium is provided with: a file for storing object data which constitutes a series of content information, such as picture information or video information and audio information, and a play list information file for storing play list information which defines a reproduction sequence of the object data by a unit of play list. The information recording medium is further provided with a disc information file for storing a plurality of title play lists including information for specifying the play list information which defines the play list to be reproduced, Pre command information and Post command information, which indicate commands to be executed before and after the reproduction, respectively, based on the play list information.
Abstract: The data processor of the present invention can play back video and audio synchronously from an optical disk, on which video and audio data are stored in different areas. Each area consists of one or more unit areas. The data processor includes: a playback control section for giving instructions on how to read the video and audio data and how to play back the video and audio based on the read data; a head for reading the data from one of the unit areas after another in accordance with the instructions; and audio and video buffers for retaining the audio and video data read. The playback control section instructs that the audio data be read from a predetermined one of the unit areas to the audio buffer memory, and then instructs that the video data, which is to be played back over first and second periods of time, be read from a number n (where n is an integer equal to or greater than two) of unit areas to the video buffer.
Abstract: In recording, reproducing, and recording/reproducing apparatuses and methods thereof, while endlessly-recording first data, desired second data can be easily stored. The present invention comprises recording means for endlessly-recording the first data in a recording medium, input means for inputting a start and end point of the second data out of the first data, and control means, when the start point and end point are designated, for controlling the recording means so as to endlessly-record the first data while avoiding a recording region for the second data. Thereby, the second data can be stored without replacing the recording medium even if the second data is endlessly-recorded. In addition, when the start point and end point of the desired second data out of the first data are designated, the start point and end point are recorded, and then the first data is endlessly-recorded based on the recorded start point and end point while avoiding the recording region for the second data.
Abstract: A method for editing source video in a DVD media for a slow motion recording special effect. According to the method, the DVD device receives a source video signal comprised of a plurality of source pictures. Each of the source video pictures is recorded in a selected picture frame on the DVD media. Subsequently s?1 copies of the selected source video picture on the DVD media in s?1 frames adjacent to the selected picture frame. For the purposes of the invention as described herein, s can be an integer value determined by a user selected motion speed. The user selected motion speed will be 1/s times slower relative to a normal motion speed. In an alternative embodiment, the method can be used for editing source video in a DVD media for a fast motion record special effect. In that case, the DVD device receives a source video signal comprised of a plurality of source pictures. Only one out of every n of the source video pictures is chosen as a selected source video picture.
