Abstract: A resin produced by graft polymerizing at least one ethylenically unsaturated polymerizable compound on a mercapto group-containing alkyd resin, which is useful as an essential component in coating compositions such as paints.
Abstract: A new epoxy resin adhesive composition having exceptionally high tensile lap shear strength is prepared from a mixture of a polyglycidyl ether of a novolac resin, a diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A, 3,4,3',4'-benzophenone tetracarboxylic dianhydride and maleic anhydride. The resin is cured with a metal complex of acetylacetone such as zinc acetylacetonate.
Abstract: Substrates are coated with relatively high molecular weight epoxy resin coatings by applying to a substrate a mixture comprising:A. a relatively low molecular weight epoxy resin such as the diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A,B. a phenolic hydroxyl-containing compound such as bisphenol A andC. a catalyst for effecting a reaction between (A) and (B), andSubjecting the coated substrate to a temperature of 120.degree. to 300.degree.C.
