  • Patent number: 10061366
Abstract: Schedule-based energy storage device selection is described for a device having an energy storage device system with heterogeneous energy storage devices, such as heterogeneous battery cells. The techniques discussed herein use information regarding a user's schedule (e.g., the user's calendar) to predict future workload patterns for a computing device and reserve energy storage device capacities across multiple heterogeneous energy storage devices to improve efficiency of the energy storage devices. For example, if a user is expected to attend a video conference call later in the day (e.g., due to the video conference call being on the user's calendar), then energy in an energy storage device that is better capable of handling such a workload (providing power during the video conference call) more efficiently is preserved so that the energy is available when the video conference call occurs.

  • Patent number: 10025909
Abstract: A configuration management resource keeps track of incremental updates to a locally stored copy of configuration information (such as drug library information) used by a medical device to administer treatment to patients. The medical device retrieves a copy of the configuration information from a configuration management resource. Unbeknownst to a user of the medical device, to ensure that the medical device has most up-to-date configuration information, the medical device communicates a request for updates to the configuration management resource. To service the received request for updated configuration information, the configuration management resource forwards incrementally available configuration update information to the requesting medical device. The medical device uses the received configuration update information from the configuration management resource to update its local version of configuration information stored in the medical device.

  • Patent number: 9952956
Abstract: Apparatuses, methods, systems, and computer program products are disclosed for calculating a clock rate of a processor. A baseline data module receives a first set of performance data associated with a processor. The performance data is generated using a hardware element that captures performance data for the processor. The hardware element is external to the processor. An update data module receives a second set of performance data associated with the processor a predefined time interval after the first set of performance data is received. The second set of performance data corresponds to the first set of performance data. A rate module calculates a clock rate for the processor based on the first set of performance data and the second set of performance data.

  • Patent number: 9891996
Abstract: A method recovers an information handling system (IHS) from a non-operational state. The method includes determining if the non-operational state of the IHS has occurred. In response to determining that the non-operational state of the IHS has occurred, a basic input-output (BIOS) recovery device is identified as being coupled to an embedded controller. In response to identifying that the BIOS recovery device is coupled to the embedded controller, an IHS type is transmitted to the BIOS recovery device. The BIOS recovery device is signaled to determine if the BIOS recovery device contains a BIOS payload corresponding to the IHS type. In response to determining that the BIOS recovery device contains the BIOS payload corresponding to the IHS type, the BIOS recovery device is triggered to transmit the BIOS payload to the embedded controller. The IHS is triggered to restart using the new BIOS payload.
