  • Patent number: 8876178
Abstract: A door handle for a sliding door having a handle and a handle base having a pair of opposed arms. The arms are provided with corresponding clips, each clip having an opening that receives a corresponding pivot pin. The handle pivots between the arms on the pivot pins. The pins are axially aligned and slidably installed in the clips for sliding motion to extend towards and retract away from each other, into and out of engagement with the handle. With the pins extended, they engage the handle, preferably with each pin engaging a corresponding insert in each end of the handle. With the pins retracted, the handle may be removed from between the arms of the handle base. The pins are preferably held in the extended position with corresponding wedges that snap into the corresponding clips behind the pins.

  • Patent number: 8851535
Abstract: A security device for a double door, including a first locking portion having a curved portion and an elongated male portion, and a second locking portion having a curved portion and an elongated female portion. A lock mechanism includes a pair of rows of teeth having a gap therebetween and associated with the bottom side of the male portion and a locking prong mounted to the female portion. The locking prong has a flexible finger portion that terminates in a T-shaped end. The finger portion can slide between the gap in the rows of teeth. A release button mounted on the female portion, when pressed, causes the locking prong to bend downward, disengaging the T-shaped end from between the teeth and allowing the first and second locking portions to separate, thereby unlocking the security device.

  • Patent number: 8844985
Abstract: An improved forced entry resistant sash lock comprises a housing, a shaft rotatably mounted thereto, a locking cam and a delay cam rotatably and fixedly mounted to the shaft, respectively, and a locking spring. The delay cam selectively engages and drives the locking cam between a locked position and an unlocked position. Locking spring biasing causes engagement with a locking earn opening to lock the cam when in the latch-locked position, with engagement to a depth permitting releasable detent engagement in a delay cam recess. Selective engagement and driving of the locking cam comprises a first portion of delay cam rotation being without driven locking cam rotation, and a second portion causing driven locking cam rotation from a retracted position into a protruding position. Selective engagement is by contact between corresponding protrusions on the delay and locking cams. Shaft/delay cam counter-rotation to unlock the latch proceeds in a reverse manner.

  • Patent number: 8827324
Abstract: A multi-point lock assembly includes a pair of spaced apart latching members for locking sliding doors, windows or other similar structures. The lock assembly includes a housing rotationally supporting a pair of actuators provided with a plurality of gears arranged in meshed engagement with one another. Rotation of one actuator causes rotation of both actuators in opposite directions, that is, one clockwise and one counterclockwise. Short and long arm assemblies are respectively pivotably connected at their proximal ends to an extended portion of the actuators. The distal end of each arm assembly is guided by a pin received within a track provided in the sidewalls of the housing. The latching members are formed as threaded bolts received within the distal end of each arm assembly. As the actuators are rotated, the distal end of the long and short arm assemblies track along the track within the sidewalls.

  • Patent number: 8641104
Abstract: A latch device (14) includes a latch bolt (30) movable between a latching position and an unlatching position. A sleeve (775) is mounted to an outer side (13A) of a door (11) and operatively connected to an outer operational device (12). A clutch (575) is mounted to and jointly movable with the sleeve (775). An unlatching member (711) is operably connected to the latch bolt (30) and releasably engaged with the clutch (575). When the unlatching member (711) engages with the clutch (575), operation of a handle (502) of the outer operational device (12) retracts the latch bolt (30). When the unlatching member (711) disengages from the clutch (575), the latch bolt (30) remains in the latching position if the handle (502) is rotated.

  • Patent number: 8562032
Abstract: A latch assembly (10) is mounted to a follower door (275) of a double door (257). When the follower door (275) is closed while a primary door (259) of the double door (257) is closed, an actuation latch (131) of the latch assembly (10) is moved from a releasing position to a pressing position to move a latch (231) of the latch assembly (10) to a latching position engaged in a groove (37, 300) in a door frame (31) or in the ground (299). When the actuation latch (131) is moved from the releasing position to the pressing position while the follower door (275) is not in the closed position, the latch (231) is retained in an unlatching position, avoiding damage to the latch assembly (10).

  • Patent number: 8556306
Abstract: An anti-pick latch assembly (10) is mounted to a follower door (275) of a double door (257). The latch assembly (10) includes an actuation latch (131) normally extending beyond an end face (291) of the follower door (257) and a latch (231) movable between an unlatching position received in the follower door (275) and a latching position extending out of the follower door (275) into a groove (37) in a door frame (31). When the follower door (275) is closed while a primary door (259) of the double door (257) is closed, the actuation latch (131) is actuated to move a limiting member (90) to a locking position, moving the latch (231) of into the groove (37) of the door frame (31). The limiting member (90) in the locking position prevents the latch (231) from moving out of the groove (37) while the latch (231) is picked.
