Abstract: An on-vehicle emergency call apparatus includes: a camera capturing an image of an interior of a vehicle; a capturing controller controlling the camera; and a transmitter transmitting an image capturing result obtained by the capturing camera to an emergency information center. The capturing controller controls the camera so as to capture images while switching alternately between an instant capturing shutter speed for capturing an instant image of a subject and a translocation capturing shutter speed for capturing a translocation image of the subject, in which instant capturing shutter speed and the translocation capturing shutter speed are different from each other. An image superimposer can superimpose the instant image and the translocation image to produce the image capturing result.

Abstract: A mechanism is disclosed for determining, based on a deterministic mechanism and a session's key value, a backup server for the session. In one embodiment, each session has a different key value, and each key value can be processed through the deterministic mechanism to give rise to a separate ordering of a result value set. Each server of a plurality of servers is associated with a different one of the set's values. A request pertaining to a particular session is received. The request indicates the particular session's key value. The deterministic mechanism can generate result values, in a particular order to which the session's key value gives rise, until a result value associated with a currently operational server is generated. The request is sent to that server if the request's primary server is not currently operational. A pseudo-random number generator seeded with the key value may generate the result values.

Abstract: Among other disclosure, a method includes receiving first electronic content configured for displaying a first page in a browser, the first electronic content including a document object model for the first page. Content in the document object model is identified as corresponding to at least one advertisement on the first page, the first page further including page content. Information is extracted from the identified content to be used in identifying an advertising network system that the advertisement links to. An identity of the advertising network system is determined using the extracted information. Second electronic content is generated using the first electronic content and the determined identity of the advertising network system. A second page including the page content of the first page and the advertisement is generated and displayed. On the second page the advertisement is labeled with the determined identity of the advertising network system.

Abstract: One Embodiment of the present disclosure provides a method for accessing web services. In this regard, one embodiment of such a method, among others, can be broadly summarized by the following steps: receiving a request for a web service, the request being in an instant messaging format; converting the request into a native format utilized by the web service; and relaying the request in the native format to the web service. Other methods and devices are also provided.

Abstract: A shared memory architecture for a GPS receiver, wherein a processing memory is shared among the different processing functions, such as the correlator signal processing, tracking processing, and other applications processing. The shared memory architecture within the GPS receiver provides the memory necessary for signal processing operations, such as the massively parallel processing, while conserving memory cost by re-using that same memory for other GPS and non-GPS applications. The shared memory architecture for a GPS receiver provided in accordance with the principles of this invention thereby significantly minimize the costly memory requirement often required of extremely fast signal acquisition of a GPS receiver.

Abstract: An enterprise computer network comprising a hierarchy of client computers interconnected through a plurality of server computers at a plurality of hierarchical levels. A system, method and object oriented computer program for giving a selected controller computer remote control of a selected target client computer in the network comprising the combination of a plurality of server controlled regional hubs, each hub connected to and serving a network region including a set of target client computers; and a function for storing at each server controlled regional hub, a remote control object including data necessary to access and remotely control each of the target client computers served by said hub. This is essentially a standard regional set up for remote control by a remote controller.

Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product is provided for automatically searching and injecting a multi-person chat history into a chat session, and allowing users to inject a multi-person chat history into a new chat session. After comparing new chat session participants with chat history participants stored in a chat log within a predetermined temporal window to determine a number of similar participants after the new chat session is created, there is performed one of injecting the chat history into the new chat session automatically when the number of similar participants is at least as great as a first predetermined threshold; or prompting a user response to inject the chat history into the new chat session when the number of similar participants is at least as great as a second threshold, where the chat history is injected into the new chat session when the user affirmatively responds to the prompt.

Abstract: The semiconductor integrated circuit includes a command decoder, a shift register unit and a command address latch unit. The command decoder is responsive to an external command defining write and read modes and configured to provide a write command or a read command according to the external command using a rising or falling clock. The shift register unit is configured to shift an external address and the write command by a write latency in response to the write command. The column address latch unit is configured to latch and provide the external address as a column address in the read mode, and to latch a write address, which is provided from the shift register unit, and provide the write address as the column address in the write mode.

This conversion permits the Internet user to perform COBOL transactions using the enterprise legacy system.

Abstract: A self-healing grid mechanism using peer-to-peer platform protocols. In one embodiment, two or more nodes on a grid may be configured as master nodes. One of the configured master nodes may serve as the actual master node, and one may be backup or “shadow” master node, not actively serving as a master node. If the active master node goes down, the peer-to-peer protocols may be used to detect that the master node is not active and the backup master node may take over the master node operations for the grid. The backup master node may “shadow” the master node, keeping updated information about the grid configuration and operations via the peer-to-peer platform protocols, so that it can assume grid management operations seamlessly.

Abstract: A flash memory device includes a cell array and a read voltage adjuster. The cell array includes a first field having first memory cells and a second field having second memory cells. The read voltage adjuster determines a read voltage for reading first data from the first memory cells of the first field with reference to second data read from the memory cells of the second field.

Abstract: Embodiments of a system and method for using mobile agents in peer-to-peer networks to gather presence information for determining active peers in groups of peers. In one embodiment, a mobile agent may be launched by an initiating peer in a peer group to attempt to visit each member peer in a peer group. The itinerary of the mobile agent may include information for accessing each member peer of the peer group. The mobile agent may return to its initiating peer with a payload indicating which of the member peers it was successful in contacting and visiting. When the mobile agent returns to the originating peer, the originating peer may update presence information indicating presence of member peer nodes in the group in accordance with the indications provided by the mobile agent.

Abstract: A method, apparatus, system, and signal-bearing medium that in an embodiment provides for a management and resource policy for computers. The policy may control whether users can access or not access local and network software and hardware resources and affects the computer's human interface. A hierarchy of management data may be combined into managed and unmanaged preference data and conflicts within the management data are resolved based on the policy.

Abstract: To reduce Domain Name System (DNS) lookup traffic in a computer data network, a client computer requests a DNS lookup. A router or other means then sends the request for a hostname of a web server to a DNS server and receives a corresponding IP address. Next, the router forwards the request to the web server. In response, the web server sends an HTML document. Upon receiving the HTML document, the router examines the document for URLs and sends one DNS lookup request for each of the distinct hostnames, regardless of how many times that distinct hostname appears in the HTML document. The router receives IP addresses, each of which corresponds to one of each of the distinct hostnames and modifies the HTML document by replacing the each of the distinct hostnames, including recurrences, in the URLs associated with the image elements with their corresponding IP addresses.

Abstract: Techniques to allow applications to propagate information to the other instances of the applications running on downstream servers are provided. An indicator, such as a token, tag, etc., is placed within or added to a message that is flowing through the distributed environment to signify that a process has been performed on the message. For example, when an instance of an application running on a server receives a message, the application instance can examine the indicator contained in the message and take appropriate action. If the application instance decides to process the message, the application instance can include an indicator in the message to signify that the application instance processed the message. The presence of the indicator signifies that the message has been processed by an upstream instance of the same application.

A determination is made whether the file matches the attachment based on the descriptive information. The attachment is sent to the destination if the file does not match the attachment based on the descriptive information.

Information about a creator and a borrower of name information is added to a table including name information and address information of a virtual port of a name server managing the name information and the address information. The name information is provided to plural switches and managed. In addition, name information, which can be used commonly among name servers managing the name information and the address information is pooled in advance, and the name information of the virtual port is borrowed from there.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described that vertically integrate telecommunications network management across multiple transport domains and network layers to support E2E network management. Embodiments vertically integrate telecommunications network management across multiple transport layers such as physical layers (optical), data link layers (Ethernet), and upper layers (VLAN), and establish an inventory database for the plurality of transport layers in a network management OSS to integrate and correlate network alarms and other business applications. Embodiments provide a single platform for an E2E network management solution across and for multiple transport domains.

Abstract: A refresh characteristic test circuit is provided, in a recessed semiconductor device, that is capable of verifying whether a refresh failure is caused by the neighbor/passing gate effect or not and a method for testing the refresh characteristic.
