  • Patent number: 7071632
Abstract: A discharge lamp starter includes a DC/DC converter. The DC/DC converter includes a forward section for producing a first output voltage that is determined by a power supply voltage and a turn ratio of a transformer, and a flyback section for producing a second output voltage that is determined by an inductance of a primary winding of the transformer and a current flowing through the primary winding. The DC/DC converter generates its output voltage by adding the first output voltage and the second output voltage. The configuration can reduce the size of the discharge lamp starter.

  • Patent number: 7071630
Abstract: Current is delivered to a load using a closed-loop boost circuit topology that is suitable for LED driver applications. An inductor is charged when a transistor is active during a first operating phase. The inductor delivers current to the load when the transistor is inactive during a second operating phase. A ramp circuit is enabled by at least a feed-forward circuit that detects when the inductor enters the charging cycle. The charging time of the inductor is controlled by a comparator that selectively disables the transistor in response to a ramp voltage and an error voltage. The slope of the ramp is adjusted in response to the error voltage, which is adjusted by an error amplifier that is responsive to the current in the load. The value associated with the inductor can be relatively small, and the boost circuit is arranged to operate over a wide range of operating frequencies.

  • Patent number: 7068237
Abstract: An antenna device is provided which is capable of dealing with two or more frequencies or of carrying out communications using two or more communication methods by a single antenna and of controlling its directivity and, therefore, of achieving improvements in communication performance of the antenna device. The antenna device is so constructed that its shape is freely changed and its directivity can be changed to deal with a signal in any frequency band. The antenna device is made up of two or more antenna elements and switches which put each of the antenna elements into a connected or disconnected state. By controlling the switches, a shape of the antenna is changed so as to have a 90-degree bent dipole configuration to provide directivity, and a length of the antenna is changed so as to allow a changeover of a frequency band. The antenna device has a reflector being similar to the dipole-type antenna, which enables improvements in its directivity.

  • Patent number: 7057565
Abstract: A multi-band flat antenna has multiple compressed dielectric substrates on which printed circuits are formed and interconnected to constitute first, second and third radiation units to supply three frequency bands. The first radiation unit is created by multiple circuits of different shapes that are interconnected to form a three-dimensional configuration. The second radiation unit is created by an L-shaped circuit and electrically connects to the first radiation unit at a common feeding node. The third radiation unit is formed by a crooked conductive wire. With the foregoing configuration, the size is minimized as far as possible.
