Abstract: A method for processing a print work. A first entity's ownership of a print work that is lawfully owned by the first entity is recorded. The print work is a physical copy of an original copyrighted work. A disablement of the print work is recorded. While the disablement exists, a digital copy of the original work is generated or received. After initiation of generating or receiving the digital copy: (i) a digital association linking the digital copy with both the recorded ownership and the recorded disablement is generated; and (ii) the digital association is recorded in the digital copy and/or in hardware storage units. Another entity may generate the digital copy and a unique identifier of the digital copy which associates the digital copy with a unique identification of the print work.

Abstract: A method and system for auctioning an auction item in a multi-attribute auction. A winning bid is selected by determining a secret value function indicative of acceptable combination of attribute values for the auction owner. The auction owner computing device or the auction server generates alternate combinations of attribute values based at least in part on the secret value function. To generate the alternate combinations of attribute values at least some of the combinations of attribute values are perturbed so as to hinder the bidders from deriving or finding the secret value function. The auction server informs the bidders, via a bidder interface of a client computing device, about the alternate combinations of attribute values and required biding directions. The bidder can offer a bid in a next round based on the alternate combinations of attribute values, in a progressive manner and without knowledge of the secret value function.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for storing financial data utilizing a communications network is described. In one embodiment, provisioning access is provided to a plurality of unrelated financial entities. The financial data received from the plurality of unrelated financial entities are stored in a secure data store, e.g., a secure network based mailbox.

Abstract: A method for installing a NFC application (APP) that includes a picture (PIC) in a mobile communication device (3) comprises: at a Service Provider (1) transmitting the NFC application (APP) together with the picture (PIC) to a Trusted Service Manager (2); at the Trusted Service Manager (2), separating the picture (PIC) from the NFC application (APP) and storing it and transmitting the NFC application (APP) together with a reference (REF) to a storage location of the picture (PIC) to the mobile communication device (3); at the mobile communication device (3), installing the NFC application (APP) together with the reference (REF) and retrieving the picture (PIC) by sending the reference (REF) to the Trusted Service Manager (2) requesting download of the picture (PIC); at the Trusted Service Manager (2), fetching the picture (PIC) from the storage location indicated by the reference (REF) and downloading it to the mobile communication device (3).

Abstract: Essentially coincident with the capture of an image by the imaging device, biometric information indicating the identity of the operator of the device is obtained from at least one biometric sensor. The biometric information and captured image are then stored in a manner reliably associating each with the other. At a later time, biometric information is obtained from a supposed operator of the imaging device. By comparing this candidate biometric information with the stored biometric information, the supposed operator may be authenticated as the operator of the imaging device at the time of capture of the stored image.

Users having various roles may access the framework to specify operations of services provided by computing service sources to include in a virtual service offering, specify configuration parameter values associated with them, and/or specify a contract of non-functional aspect clauses for the virtual service offering. The framework may produce the interface by modifying an interface provided by the computing service sources (e.g., a WSDL).

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure provide methods and systems of backing up applications and their associated data installed on a device, such as a mobile device. In particular, data for a backed-up application is stored on a remote archive host and can be restored to dynamically managed containers of securely installed applications on the device. Upon request, the archive host may provide a package of files to the device. The device may then restore the application based on the contents of the package. The package may comprise all the files needed to install the application including the program code, data, and documents. Alternatively, the package may simply comprise just some of the files, such as just the data or documents for an application. After installation, a secure installer framework may be used to verify the applications and authorize the application's execution on the device.

Abstract: A system for providing a digital rights management (DRM) license includes a sink system requesting a license for content, a source system generating and providing a plurality of sub-rights tokens, which include binding information having path information that indicates relations among a plurality of principals, in accordance with the request, and a rights mediator generating a main rights token by combining the plurality of sub-rights tokens and transmitting the generated main rights token to the system. The sink system determines whether to access the license which is bound to the principals on the basis of the main rights token.

Abstract: A system and method for verifying content on a network site is provided. A document such as a website is identified. The document is accessed over a network from a content provider system connected to the network to obtain information about the document. Through an automated process, using the information about the document to determine whether the document conforms to one or more predetermined rules associated with the content provider system governing the usage of content in the document.

Abstract: A microbrowser such as web-enabled wireless telephones and personal digital assistants allows a user to configure types of objects to be blocked from download including object memory consumption, display area, download time, and restrictions on animated images and executable scripts. Microbrowser state conditions such as battery level and network connection mode are considered when providing said limitations such that more restrictions may be placed during low battery periods to maximize battery life. For example, during low battery conditions or analog connection mode, a user may configure an enhanced microbrowser not to download advertisements, run scripts or animated objects in order to maximize remaining battery life. In another example, a user may configure an enhanced microbrowser to block the download of objects containing audio, or which will occupy more than a certain percentage of the available display area.

Abstract: Digital content is released to a rendering application for forwarding by such rendering application to an ultimate destination by way of a path therebetween. The path is defined by at least one module, and the digital content is initially in an encrypted form. An authentication of at least a portion of the path is performed to determine whether each defining module thereof is to be trusted to appropriately handle the digital content passing therethrough. The encrypted digital content is decrypted if in fact each such defining module is to be trusted, and the decrypted digital content is forwarded to the rendering application for further forwarding to the ultimate destination by way of the authenticated path.

Abstract: A game system in which game software produced to be used in stationary game machines can be used in portable game machines. The game system includes a stationary game machine, a portable game machine, and a memory card connectable to both the stationary and portable game machines. Image data contained in game software produced for the stationary game machine shows an image in the form of free-form surface. The stationary game machine converts the image data to show the image in the form of a polygon according to processing performance of the portable game machine, and stores the converted image data and a game program executable by the portable game machine onto the memory card. The portable game machine executes the game program stored on the memory card, and generates and displays a display image from the image data stored on the memory card.
