  • Patent number: 8631080
Abstract: Email users may feel overwhelmed with the abundance of emails they receive. Many current email management techniques require at least some manual intervention that may be time consuming and/or otherwise frustrating to a user. As provided herein, emails may be characterized based upon content of the email and domain classification data (e.g., a company name, business category, or a website name associated with the domain name of the sender). One or more viewing panels may be populated with the characterized emails. A viewing panel may present emails corresponding to a particular characterization (e.g., a shopping viewing panel may display emails characterized as shopping). To enhance characterization, rules used to characterize emails may learn from a user's actions. For example, a user may move an email from a shopping viewing panel to a travel viewing panel, thus altering the characterization of the email from shopping to travel.

  • Patent number: 8601125
Abstract: A service processing method, a service processing system, and a PCRF entity are disclosed to overcome this defect in the prior art: The prior art is unable to handle services discriminatively according to the policy context information when different services require the same QoS level. The method includes: receiving bearer priority information from a PCRF entity, where the bearer priority information includes: bearer priority information of a service data stream, bearer priority information of an IP-CAN session, and/or bearer priority information of an IP-CAN bearer; and handling services according to the bearer priority information. In the embodiments of the present invention, the policy context information is converted into bearer priority information so that the PCEF handles services according to the bearer priority information. In this way, different services that require the same QoS level are handled discriminatively according to the policy context information.

  • Patent number: 8578041
Abstract: A data set containing website traffic data or other data is sampled according to a variable sample rate. A target number of samples per time period is established, and a baseline sample rate is determined. Data items in the data set are sampled according to the baseline sample rate, to obtain a sample set. For time periods where the size of the resulting sample set exceeds the target number of samples, a new sample rate is established and the data items for the time period are resampled. Appropriate sampling capability can thus be provided for website traffic in normal time periods, while maintaining capability for handling spikes and other variations in website traffic as may take place in response to certain periodic or non-periodic events.

  • Patent number: 8542271
Abstract: A monitor device for use with an endoscope apparatus, which has first and second display modes. In the first display mode, the monitor device displays, in real time, any image transmitted in a normal radio communication state. In the second display mode, the monitor device displays a noise-free image in real time, if a radio communication error occurs. If one-frame (or one-field) image data is not received within the frame (or field) time due to a communication error, the monitor device displays, in the second display mode, the image data received in a normal state immediately before the one-frame (or one-field) image data, and informs the operator of the communication error.

  • Patent number: 8478889
Abstract: A stream data node receives real-time streamed data from one or more input devices, dynamically filters the streamed data to reduce the streamed data, and delivers the reduced data when requested. By providing real-time filtering of the data, the amount of data that must be stored in a database may be substantially reduced. The stream data node can perform aggregation functions, group functions, and select functions, thereby also significantly reducing the amount of data that must be stored in a database. The stream data node may also be part of a query execution data structure, where it delivers its data when requested by another node in the query execution data structure.

  • Patent number: 8275882
Abstract: The present invention includes, but is not limited to, a method, system and computer-usable medium for providing automated management of threshold crossing alarms. Transaction processing resources are selected for monitoring, followed by selecting a monitoring time interval, an initial threshold alarm level. Selections are then made regarding transaction codes to monitor, acceptable average transaction processing times, and acceptable ratio of successful transactions to unsuccessful transactions. The transaction processing resources are then monitored to count the number of transactions processed, measure the processing time for individual transactions, and capture their corresponding transaction result code. An average transaction processing time value and a successful transaction ratio processing value are generated. Comparison operations are performed. If the results of the comparison operations are acceptable, then threshold crossing alarms are then suppressed and the threshold alarm level is increased.

  • Patent number: 8248464
Abstract: An endoscope signal processor to which an endoscope having an image pickup device is detachably connected has a phase-locked loop circuit in which a phase comparator compares a phase of a variable clock with that of a reference clock output from the image pickup device to generate a variable clock phase-synchronized with the reference clock. The processor includes a gate section opened or closed to input of the reference clock to the phase comparator, an operation control signal generation section which generates an operation control signal for setting the phase-locked loop circuit in a closed loop operable state during intermittent periods, and a sync timing setting section which synchronizes a timing of starting the generation of the operation control signal with a timing of input of the variable clock to the phase comparator at least within a predetermined time period shorter than the cycle of the variable clock.

  • Patent number: 8233038
Abstract: An image-signal processing unit comprising a first and second luminance calculation block, a correction-value calculation block, and a subtraction block, is provided. The first luminance calculation block calculates a first luminance corresponding to the sum of a plurality of primary color light components. Each of them is multiplied by a coefficient from a first coefficient combination. The second luminance calculation block calculates a second luminance corresponding to the sum of a plurality of the primary color light components. Each of them is multiplied by a coefficient from a second coefficient combination. The correction-value calculation block calculates a luminance correction value according to the second luminance if the first luminance is greater than a threshold value. The subtraction block calculates a corrected luminance by subtracting the luminance correction value from the first luminance.

  • Patent number: 8171123
Abstract: In a node configured to communicate with one or more other nodes over a network, available bandwidth for network traffic may be distributed among two or more distinct channels of communication within a single application running on the node. An available bandwidth may be detected for communication between the first node and a second node. A distribution may be determined for the available bandwidth among the two or more communication channels. A sending rate may be adjusted for data sent from the first node to the second node over one or more of the two or more communication channels in response to a detected change in the available bandwidth.
