  • Patent number: 6594872
Abstract: A closure device for a thermoplastic bag which includes two opposing, longitudinally extending interlockable male and female fastening strips having respective male and female closure elements or profiles that are deformed to interdigitate and produce an audible clicking sound and or tactile effect that is perceptible to the touch as the closure device is opened and closed. Interdigitation of the two profiles is achieved by cold forming the profiles while interlocked. The shape of the cold form is a stepped deflection of both profiles so that their shapes are generally congruent. The stepped deflections provide a change in the occlusion and peel force of the interlocking closure device thereby resulting in an audible clicking or popping sound as the closure device is opened and closed and a tactile effect that is perceptible to the touch as the closure device is closed.

  • Patent number: 6588075
Abstract: A fish-hook clasp with a rotating mechanism or “small jack” whose shape forms two activating wings which protrude respectively from the side edges of the clasp's shell. It is possible to act on at least one of the wings to cause the rotating mechanism to rotate therefore bringing the rotating mechanism from the closed position, towards which the rotating mechanism is normally pushed by the internal spring, to the open position. The rotating mechanism is also supplied with contact surfaces, which are there to interact with the closed part of the edge of the shell of the clasp which defines the position of an arm of the rotating mechanism when the clasp is in the closed position.

  • Patent number: 6584655
Abstract: A retention mechanism has a base and a snap ring that are mounted to two components. The snap ring has a hole for attaching a first component. A conical element with a rounded knob protrudes from the snap ring. The base is cylindrical and has a cap with a rounded face and a conical opening that tapers to a cylindrical hole. Both the knob and the base are slit for greater compliance. After the base and snap ring are mounted to their respective components, the snap ring may be removably connected to the base by inserting its knob into the conical opening in the base. The complementary shapes of the snap ring and base allow for significant axial and angular misalignment. The slits allow the snap ring and base to elastically deform. The snap ring and base are disengaged by pulling the snap ring away from the base.

  • Patent number: 6581249
Abstract: The closure device (121) includes first and second interlocking fastening strips (130, 131) arranged to be interlocked over a predetermined length and a slider (132) which slidably engages the first and second fastening strips. The fastening strips have a longitudinal X axis (160), a transverse Y axis (162) and a vertical Z axis (164). The slider (132) facilitates the occlusion of the fastening strips (130, 131) when moved towards a first end of the fastening strips and deocclusion of the fastening strips when moved towards a second end of the fastening strips. The fastening strips (130, 131) are occluded and deoccluded by moving the first fastening strip relative to the second fastening strip in substantially the vertical Z axis (164). The fastening strips may also move in the Y axis (162), rotate or deflect during occlusion. In addition, the fastening strips may include a locking feature (1244, 1245) to prevent unintentional deocclusion.

  • Patent number: 6581253
Abstract: A reusable bi-directional, fluid-tight, vertical sealing device for closing, sealing, and permitting re-opening of, flexible bags, with two sealing strips arranged to be interlocked and uninterlocked by a slider which has internal means such as rails acting upon the sealing strips so as to move them into a vertically interlocked fluid-tight sealing contact capable of holding a vacuum without leakage and of resisting pressure differences in either direction across the seal, so that the efficacy of the seal is improved by increases in the pressure differential. The word “fluid”, is used in its usual meaning of liquid or gas or a mixture of both, and, in addition, powder, and “vertical”, herein means in the plane of interior contact of the sheets of the bag when empty and hanging vertically.
