  • Patent number: 5096575
Abstract: The disposable filter unit according to the present invention comprises a filter fixing member 3 with a socket-type recess 7 into which the front side of a feed member 2 interspersed with a feed channel 4 is inserted sealingly. Between these two members, a filter element 12 is inserted, which filter element is supported by the ground 15 of the socket-type recess 7 inside the filter fixing member 3. The edges 13 and 16 of the feed member 2 and the filter fixing member 3 are knife-type cutting edges such that, when these two members are put together, the filter element 12 is cut to size from a sheet-type filter material. Furthermore, the invention relates to a method for manufacturing disposable filter units. This method is characterized by that several feed members and several filter fixing members are put together simultaneously, whereat the filter elements are simultaneously cut to size from a sheet-type filter material, for example from a leaf-type or a ribbon-type filter material.

  • Patent number: 5087379
Abstract: Processes and apparatus for treatment of flowing slurries of particulate material mixed in liquid employ a wide, elongated downwardly-slanted, metal tray with upturned edge flanges, cable-suspended for unrestrained vibratory flexing and undulation. The tray is provided with a plurality of ultrasonic transducers mounted on its underside, and the flowing slurry is delivered to the upper tray end, flowing lengthwise down the tray in a shallow flowing sheet. Ultrasonic vibratory energy coupled through the tray to the flowing slurry has a "microscopic scrubbing" action on all particles and agglomerates, breaking the surface tension on the particle, cleaning particle surfaces, and separating different constituent particles and coatings of gels, slimes, algae, clay or mud. Mixtures of fine particles of coal or other valuable minerals with ash, clay, rock or sand particles are separated with unexpected efficiency by these techniques.

  • Patent number: 5085771
Abstract: A liquid filter comprising a casing having a feed pipe, at least a drain pipe and at least a flushing pipe respectively fastened at different level positions, at least a circular filter and at least a rotary wire brush device. Feeding liquid which is pumped through the feed pipe along the inner wall into the casing is induced by the drain pipe and stirred by the wire brush device to rotate inside the casing permitting the mid-stream of the rotating liquid to penetrate through the circular filter. The filter has a smooth, elastic, convex outer surface which prevents fibrous or other debris from attaching thereto, form mid-stream osmosis filtration effect under straining rotation fluid at constant flowing pressure.

  • Patent number: 5085768
Abstract: A 3 fuel tank has a magnet 3 disposed on the inside or outside thereof in the vicinity of a fuel pump 12 which is housed inside the fuel tank. The magnet collects magnetic spatter which remains inside the fuel tank after welding and prevents the spatter from entering the fuel pump. The magnet may be a permanent magnet or an electromagnet, and it may be disposed outside the pump or in the fuel filter of the fuel pump. A cleaning method for a welded fuel tank comprises introducing a magnet into a fuel tank after welding, vibrating the fuel tank so that the magnet will move about the inside of the fuel tank and collect magnetic spatter, and then removing the magnet and spatter from the fuel tank.

  • Patent number: 5084174
Abstract: A filter bag (1) for a disc-like filter, comprising filter surfaces (2) to be positioned on both sides of a filter element. The filter element is inserted into the filter bag, and the filter bag is heated so that the heated portion shrinks, thus tightening the filter bag around the filter element. The filter bag (1) is so shaped that the filter parts (2) to be positioned on both sides of the filter element are substantially of the same shape and size as the required filter surfaces. An edge part (3) of a material substantially impermeable to liquid and shrinkable at elevated temperature is attached to the edges of the filter parts.

  • Patent number: 5080791
Abstract: An apparatus for adapting a paper towel filter to utilize a range of paper towel or filter element sizes. A perforated end plate is provided to engage the ends of the filter element. An inwardly sloped truncated conical extension from the center of the end plate extends into the ends of the filter element roll, which seats along the conical extension, based on its inner diameter. A pipe sealing face is provided along the inner surface of the conical extension, at the end away from the end plate; this face sealingly encloses an axial pipe. The combination of two end plates, so mounted on an axial pipe, and enclosing a paper towel roll, forms a removable filter cartridge for a paper towel filter, which readily adapts to a variety of sizes of paper towel rolls.

  • Patent number: 5075000
Abstract: An improved filter pad holder for supporting a filter pad and for use in conjunction with a filter system having a pumping unit to filter a contaminated fluid. The filter pad holder (10) includes a base frame (20) and an upper housing (22) hingedly coupled by a pair of spaced-apart hinges (24) to form a chamber (53) when pivoted to a closed operative position. When held in this closed operative position by a pair of spaced-apart latches (26), a pair of tapered ribs (32 and 34) extending upwardly about the periphery of the base frame compress the filter pad (28) against the upper housing to create a substantially fluid-tight seal. Consequently, when the filter pad holder is coupled to the pumping unit, the contaminated fluid is prevented from exiting the chamber without passing through the filter pad.
