  • Patent number: 3965609
Abstract: A rodent baiting arrangement in which modular plastic units are assembled to form a feeding station through which rodents may pass and consume poisonous bait therein. The modular units may be assembled for placement along a wall or corner of an interior room or space, while being inaccessible to children and domestic animals. The assembled modules form a passage for the rodents, with feed and water alongside of the passage. The modules have transparent top surfaces to allow inspection of the interior of the modules.

  • Patent number: 3964127
Abstract: An apparatus and method for shaping an article from moldable material and particularly a food article as from ground raw meat, fish and the like to produce firmly packed articles with relatively low power requirements while avoiding the entrapment of extraneous air in the article. The apparatus and method also include seals for sealing the mold and mold opening against substantial loss of liquid components during the molding. The material is pressure fed into a mold opening provided with an air vent means and the entering charge of material vents the air from the mold opening and then the material itself operates a valve to close the air vent against substantial losses of even liquid components of the moldable material.

  • Patent number: 3962815
Abstract: A box-like container for storing spools of fishing line, in which replacement fishing line is readily unwound in a selected length through a cooperating dispensing opening in the container wall. Unwinding rotation of the spool is achieved by journalling the spool on an axle mounted centrally across the storage compartment of the container. One end support for the axle is a closure member which is force fit over a side access opening into the storage compartment, said force fit being established with a portion of the container wall extending beyond the end member and, as such, functioning as a gripping lip.

  • Patent number: 3961437
Abstract: A downrigger for use in controlling the depth in the water of a weight suspended from a boat and detachably carrying a fishing line to a desired fishing depth. The downrigger has a horizontally mounted reel driven through a selectively operable clutch device so that the trolling weight may be lowered by unreeling line or may be raised by winding the reel in the opposite direction. The downrigger may be positioned in selective positions on a boat and the line to the weight is fed through a deep grooved, swivelable pulley facilitating alignment of the trolling line and the downrigger for all of its selected positions. The trolling weight detachably holds the fishing line by a release mechanism which permits the angler to select the amount of pull required for the fishing line to release from the trolling weight.

  • Patent number: 3958357
Abstract: A package for fish bait of the odor type commonly known as "dough bait" consisting of a hollow cylindrical tube of foraminous material adapted to contain the bait, and secured closed at both ends, said tube being adapted to be threaded over the point of a fishhook. The means securing at least one end of said tube may consist of a resiliently yieldable binding, whereby when the hook is inserted through said binding, it assists in securing and retaining the package on the hook.

  • Patent number: 3958359
Abstract: A sportsman's combination receptacle and ice chest includes a portable base member having a hollow interior and an open top. A container slidably fits in the hollow interior and is dimensioned so as to engage the periphery of the base member interior at a plurality of points, whereby lateral movement of the container is restricted. The periphery of the container is shaped so as to define spaces between the container periphery and the periphery of the base member, such that ice may be placed therein. A cover member fits in the top of the base member and covers both the top of the container and the base member.

  • Patent number: 3958360
Abstract: A spring loaded pivoted arm has one end of a snare wire secured to the upper end thereof and extending through a trigger mechanism situated at the upper end of a fixed arm so that when the snare is engaged, the trigger releases thus allowing the pivoted arm to snap away from the fixed arm and tighten the snare loop against the fixed arm thus ensuring a humane kill which is not always obtainable with conventional traps. The trigger release pressure is readily adjusted and in one embodiment, the spring action and setting action is facilitated by one end of the spring sliding along a retaining rod on the pivoted arm.

  • Patent number: 3956849
Abstract: A hermetically-sealed fumigant container having a can enclosing a smoke-generating mixture and an internal heater formed of auto-combustible material for activating the mixture to produce an exothermic reaction resulting in smoke which disperses pesticidal agents into the atmosphere of the area being fumigated. The mixture preferably has an ammonium nitrate and dicyandiamide base and a silica additive which acts to regulate the exothermic reaction whereby the reaction proceeds at a substantially constant rate.

  • Patent number: 3956846
Abstract: A rod holder construction comprising a U-shaped support formed by bending a steel rod to form a web and eyes at the junctures of the web with legs that have free ground penetrating ends, together with a U-shaped holder formed by bending a steel rod to form a cradle-like web that joins a pair of parallel legs that slidably extend through the eyes of the support. The free end portions of the holder legs are divergent to oppose removal of the legs. The construction is collapsible to parallelly superpose the holder on the support, and can be extended for use with the holder inclined upwardly from the support so that a rod can rest on the cradle-like web and bear upwardly against the underside of the support web.

  • Patent number: 3956848
Abstract: A device which is useful in determining the efficacy of various insect attractants and repellants. In particular, the device is useful for determining any time relationships which occur during the use of those attractants and repellants. The device has a web of "fly paper" which is continuously moved past an aperture in an outer housing at a known rate. A fresh supply of fly paper is stored in a roll at one end of the web and is supported on a first spindle journaled in the outer housing. The used fly paper is rolled and stored in a take-up roll at the other end of the web supported on a similarly journaled second spindle. The fly paper may be removed from the device and unrolled. By knowing the rate at which the fly paper was advanced originally, a time-dependent profile of the insects captured may then be determined. Furthermore, since the insects remain intact on the fly paper, the insects can be classified readily and time-dependent profiles by species and breed can also be made.

  • Patent number: 3955302
Abstract: An improved fishing gaff having a hook with an elongated shaft, a handle comprising a tubular member and a cylindrical supporting member to receive the shaft and the handle. The supporting member has a length equal at least that of the shaft and has a channel disposed on its outer surface for receiving the shaft. The width and depth of the channel are equal to or less than the o.d. of the shaft and the supporting member contains means to restrict its length of insertion in the tubular member. When the shaft is inserted in the channel and the supporting member is inserted in the handle, axial and rotational movement of both the shaft and the supporting member are restricted.
