  • Patent number: 4472897
Abstract: A universally adjustable paper holder comprises first and second vertical extending U-shaped channel members. The vertical extending channel members are coupled to a supporting member in a manner to afford adjustment or separation between the members so that they can be adjusted according to the width of various sizes of paper to be accommodated between channels formed in the vertical U-shaped members. A horizontal cross bar member is adjustably coupled between the vertical members and can be moved in the vertical plane to be utilized as a guide to enable a user to demarcate a particular sentence or line of data which may be implemented on the document being retained by the paper holder.

  • Patent number: 4472896
Abstract: A carton serving as a container for a food product, such as a hamburger. The carton in one embodiment is of the so-called clamshell type and includes an upper lid and a lower tray, both the lid and the tray being of generally truncated pyramidal shape. The novel feature of the clamshell carton permits the packager of the food product to indicate on the carton the type of food product therein. One panel of the carton carries a plurality of shutter panels, the shutter panels overlying and normally covering indicia on an indicia panel. With the packaging of a particular food product in the carton, any one of the plurality of the shutter panels is swung out so as to expose corresponding indicia on the indicia panel. By virtue of this construction, a single carton may be employed for the packaging of a variety of generally similarly sized food products.

  • Patent number: 4471547
Abstract: An identification insert for inserting into one end of a rolled drawing for identifying said rolled drawing from a stack of similarly rolled drawings and the method thereof is disclosed. The insert is a tubular member with an outwardly extending flange at its rearward end and at least one longitudinal slot extending from adjacent its rearward end and opening at its forward end. The outwardly extending flange provides a surface for identifying indicia such that the drawing can be easily identified when viewed from the end into which the insert is inserted. The identification insert is circumferentially compressible at its forward end such that in one mode of use it exerts a wedging effect against the innermost layers of the roll as its forward end is inserted therein.

  • Patent number: 4462177
Abstract: An electromagnetic display element is controlled by one or more high remanence cores which have control windings. A circuit is connectable to an A.C. outlet and provides to the windings a D.C. pulse in one sense (to switch the display element in one direction) when the circuit is connected to the A.C. outlet. The circuit included a capacitor charged during such connection. The circuit is designed so that, on its disconnection from the A.C. outlet, the capacitor discharges through the winding in the opposite sense and switches the display element in the opposite direction.

  • Patent number: 4462178
Abstract: A display structure is formed by cutting and scoring a unitary blank of sheet material to include body panels, joining flaps, dividers and cutout corner viewing windows thereon. The unitary blank is folded in a standard folding and gluing machine to provide a flat structure which upon being erected forms four display boxes which are connected in series by joining flaps located at their diagonally opposite corners. A cutout corner viewing window or a corner viewing window created by forming a divider may be provided on the front adjacent body panels provided on the blank for selected ones of the boxes in the series. Such a structural arrangement enables the display boxes to be nested together to form a single carton with the corner viewing windows enclosed therein.

  • Patent number: 4458391
Abstract: A woven stringer tape of a slide-fastener half, designed to support a row of thermoplastic coupling elements molded around a carrier cord adjoining a longitudinal edge of the tape, has warp threads parallel to that edge traversed by a weft thread looped about the cord, at least two of these warp threads close to the core and in mutual phase opposition consisting of thermoplastic monofilaments with a melting point lower than that of the coupling elements. Upon the molding of the latter, these two thermoplastic warp threads are partially melted along surface portions in contact with the coupling elements so as to form notches in which the coupling elements positively engage for a firm anchorage to the fabric.

  • Patent number: 4457089
Abstract: An automotive decorative display panel is devised to provide a reflective black insignia on a bright field during daylight conditions and illuminated insignia on a dark field during night-time conditions. The illuminated display panel is comprised of a lens panel having a reflective, opaque field and a translucent insignia field. A screen is disposed behind the insignia field. The screen is characterized by being partially reflective and partially transmissive. During the day, light is reflected from the screen through the insignia portion to form a black insignia field against the bright reflective field. During the night the screen is back lit to form a bright insignia field against a relatively dark background. A solid state electroluminescent panel is used as the light source in a hermetically sealed package.

  • Patent number: 4450636
Abstract: A picture frame having two principal elements, a planar backing board and a flexible annular material element formed substantially as two discs with a central aperture therein, the discs being attached to each other at their perimeters. Biasing means, such as an elastic band, are affixed to the cloth adjacent the apertures and are such that when the discs are placed over the backing board the elastic biases the apertures radially inwardly, thereby holding the outer element onto the backing board. In another embodiment a rigid element is substituted for the elastic element at the front of the frame, thereby defining a fixed shape through which the picture is presented.

  • Patent number: 4450638
Abstract: A photograph display device is formed from a generally rectangular strip of cardboard, folded and scored to define a plurality of panels and hinge lines. In a collapsed state the panels provide an envelope for mailing a photograph, and in an erect state, an easel with a rectangular display frame. The easel is supported by a cylindrical base whose ends are scored to permit bevelling relative to the back of the display frame. With the ends bevelled, the device can be oriented in either a first position with the base rested lengthwise on a horizontal surface or a second position substantially 90 degrees rotated relative to the first with either of the bevelled ends of the base rested on a horizontal surface. The device can thus orient a rectangular photograph for proper viewing regardless whether the lengthwise axis of the photograph should be horizontally or vertically oriented.
