  • Patent number: 4973237
Abstract: An apparatus for the production of grains using the rolling layer technique. The apparatus has a container formed from multiple concentric sections, a truncated cone shaped lower section, a cylindrical shaped middle section, and, at least one cylindrical shaped upper section, and is supported for rotation about the longitudinal axis of the container. The lower section tapers outward from a lower end face plate to an upper end which communicates with the lower end of the middle section to form a transfer port between the lower and middle sections, while the upper end of the middle section communicates with the holed lower face of the upper section to form a transport port between the upper and the middle sections. An annular ridge-like structure exists on the interior surface of the lower face of the upper section, circumferentially surrounding the transfer port. The cross-sectional diameters and the heights of the sections vary relative to each other.

  • Patent number: 4972798
Abstract: A first distance measurement device for measuring a height of the surface of a substrate with respect to a reference plane of a drawing machine which drawing a pattern on the substrate by issuing paste-like material from a nozzle is mounted on a revolution member rotating about the nozzle, and the first distance measurement device is always positioned in the moving direction of the nozzle and measures a height of the surface of the substrate at a slightly preceding position from the nozzle, on the other band a second distance measurement device substantially measures a height of the nozzle from the reference plane, thus, a position of the nozzle is controlled on the basis of both the measured result, and an interval between the nozzle and the surface of the substrate is kept within a predetermined value.

  • Patent number: 4973240
Abstract: A hydraulic press for simultaneously forming a plurality of pastry crusts under pressure in individual pans. The pans are loaded into a carrier tray, each pan is filled with a pre-portioned quantity of dough and the tray is placed between the upper and lower dies of the hydraulic press. Alignment elements formed on the hydraulic press and the carrier tray align the pans with the dies as the press closes. The resulting pastry crusts are formed with a uniform thickness throughout the crust. If desired and when the dies are so fabricated, crusts with different thicknesses at the bottom, side wall and flange of the crust can be formed. Pressure forming crusts eliminates the need for handling scrap dough which is usually trimmed and recovered in rolled or sheeted crust production.

  • Patent number: 4971547
Abstract: A system for distributing wax or a similar substance in semi-solid form is provided which includes a liquid wax supply system, a wax conditioning system including a heat exchanger which cools the wax to a semi-solid state and an accumulator for storing conditioned wax until needed, and a die press or similar work station which receives semi-solid wax from the accumulator in a continuous stream or flow. Such a system allows a lost wax die press to operate without need to manually open and reload the press with wax. An automated control system according to the invention allows die press reloading to occur automatically when needed, and operates the wax conditioning system as needed to maintain a supply of wax in the accumulator. Wax tunneling problems are avoided by means of a piston disposed in the heat exchanger which is movably interposed between hot liquid wax entering the heat exchanger and cooler, semi-solid wax leaving the heat exchanger.

  • Patent number: 4971538
Abstract: A tire vulcanizing press includes a vertically movable upper die closable over a lower die, a guide roller mounted on support structure of the upper die, a nearly horizontal roller guide way provided on a rear top portion of a press body, a vertical roller guide groove provided with a notch extending upward of the roller guide way and communicating therewith on the front top portion of the press body at the rear of a vertically intermediate portion thereof, a counter-rotatable crank gear, and a crank arm coupling a crank pin mounted at an eccentric position of the crank gear with the upper die support structure. When the press is operated during normal tire production, the crank gear is rotated in one direction, the crank pin is shifted from a bottom dead point to a top dead point, and movement of the crank pin is transferred to the upper die support structure through the crank arm, thus shifting the guide roller from a lower end portion to an upper end portion of the vertical roller guide groove.

  • Patent number: 4966672
Abstract: An electrolytic apparatus and a material handling apparatus, including a pair of drive chains oriented to rotate in a substantially vertical plane. One or more product carriers, each including a basket portion, are supported by the chains. As the chains rotate, the product carriers are translated along a path in a substantially vertical plane. One tier of treatment tanks, or two tiers of vertically separated treatment tanks, may be positioned below the drive chains. Workpieces, such as encapsulated electronic components, may be placed within the baskets and translated by the drive chains for sequential immersion in each tank. Sprocket arrays engaged with each drive chain at positions above each tank direct the baskets first upward and then downward over the tank end walls, or over any barriers between the tanks.

  • Patent number: 4964791
Abstract: A plurality of holders, each capable of holding a rod of raw material, and a single handler are equipped within a chamber which is adapted to be evacuated. An operator positions one of the holders at a location where it is opposite to a rotary shaft capable of driving the rod of raw material for rotation at a high speed. The operator then secures the rod held by the holder to the free end of the rotary shaft by handling the holder. A rod of raw material which has become consumed by granulation is separated from the rotary shaft by the handler which is operated by the operator. A fresh holder is then positioned at a location where it is opposite to the rotary shaft, and a rod of raw material which is held thereby is then secured to the rotary shaft.

  • Patent number: 4964367
Abstract: A machine for applying adhesive wax is provided with a pan for receiving the wax and a pair of rollers defining a bite therebetween through which sheet material may be passed. A lower one of the rollers passes through the adhesive both and transfers adhesive to the back of the sheet material. A heating element, connected to a thermostat, maintains the adhesive bath at a desired temperature. A motor, provided for rotating the rollers is interconnected with the heating elements such that actuation of the motor is inhibited absent actuation of the heating element. Additionally, a thermostatic switch may be interposed in the adhesive bath to prevent actuation of the motor unless the bath has reached a predetermined temperature.
