  • Patent number: 6203478
Abstract: A machine for drilling oil-holes in crankshafts and the corresponding procedure. It can be used to drill one, two or more crankshafts per cycle. Each crankshaft can revolve on its own axis. The unit described is mounted on a horizontally-faced rotary table with vertical rotating axis, to place the crankshafts at different angles to the Z axis of the machining module, maintaining the horizontal position of the longitudinal axes of the crankshafts. Facing the unit is the machining module, provided with two horizontal spindles, drill tool-holders, with their corresponding guide bushings and parallel to each other, one on top of the other, at the same distance as the two crankshafts. The module has movement in three co-ordinates: axis X (horizontal-transverse), Y (vertical ) and Z (horizontal-presenting tools). A fourth axis W, (with additional module and independent action), moves parallel to Z and carries the guide bushings.

  • Patent number: 6203479
Abstract: An automatic tool changing device (ATC) for machining tools is disclosed. The ATC consists of arbor rotation guide means, arbor position changing means, arbor rotation means, tool changing means and ATC protection means. The ATC is positioned at a side of the movable table and effectively changes tools within the inner diameter circle of a rotary housing, thus shortening the arbor movement stroke and conserving the tool changing time during a tool changing operation. The ATC is also protected from the spindle stock of a machining tool, thus being free from any damage caused by chips from the spindle stock. The ATC is positioned at a side of the movable table in place of the column different from a typical ATC, so that it remarkably reduces the volume of the ATC protection cover and saves the manufacturing cost of such machining centers.

  • Patent number: 6203257
Abstract: A method of forming a drive surface on an eccentric pin of a drive shaft for a scroll-type compressor is provided. First, an eccentric pin having an axis and a generally cylindrical outer surface disposed radially about the axis is provided. Next, a broaching tool having a machining face with a contour is provided. The contour may be a concave shallow bell-shaped curve. Finally, the drive surface is formed by engaging the outer surface with the machining face transverse to the axis. In this manner, the machining face forms a shape complementary to the contour on the eccentric pin thereby forming a slight crown on the drive surface. The broaching tool produces an adequate surface finish so that no subsequent machining operations to the drive surface are necessary.

  • Patent number: 6199251
Abstract: The present invention relates to a mechanical device that is used to attach polyester elastomeric fabric hoops to a furniture frame in an efficient and production-worthy manner. These elastomeric hoops are used as the back and seat portions of chairs, double occupant seats, and the like. The invention works by overstretching part of an elastomeric fabric hoop and inserting a furniture frame into the overstretched hoop portion. The fabric hoop is then allowed to reduce its size until it is tight around the frame, thereby eliminating the need for additional attachment means. The device is operated by two air-over-oil pneumatic cylinders, two pneumatic cylinders, and a series of electrical read switches. The device requires only compressed air and 110 volts of alternating electrical current to operate.

  • Patent number: 6200247
Abstract: A machine tool and more particularly a drilling and/or milling machine, which has a machine stand, on which a slide arrangement, which runs on guide rails and is motor driven, is able to be moved in either direction of horizontal motion. On this slide arrangement a working head is arranged to receive rotary tools. Underneath the working head in a working area a power driven machining table runs along vertical guide rails for the performance of vertical working movements. The working area is laterally delimited by two side walls at least partly, such side walls extending in parallelism to the longitudinal direction, the vertical guide rails for the working table being arranged on one of the side walls. This means that there is a simple design allowing for removal of shavings to the rear and accordingly a narrow form of the machine.

  • Patent number: 6190098
Abstract: A numerical control system for a machine tool comprises a feed speed setting unit, which outputs a signal of a set feed speed of the machine tool, and a feed speed overriding unit, which outputs a signal of a feed speed overriding according to an input of the feed speed overriding. An interpolation unit connects to the feed speed setting unit and the feed speed overriding unit. The interpolation unit determines a command signal of the feed speed of the machine tool by performing interpolation calculations according to he signal of the set feed speed unit and the signal of the feed speed overriding unit. Based upon its calculations, the interpolation unit outputs a target position of each spindle at each sampling time.

  • Patent number: 6190294
Abstract: A horizontal machine tool has a spindle head which supports a horizontal tool spindle. The spindle head is guided on a top surface portion of a base such that the spindle head is movable in two horizontal directions X and Z. A workpiece support for supporting a workpiece on its upper end is guided on the vertical front face portion of the base for movement in a vertical direction Y. When the spindle head is located at a machining position at the center in the X direction, a pair of guide portions of each of a front/back guide mechanism for the spindle head and a vertical guide mechanism for the workpiece support body take symmetrical positions with respect to a vertical plane including the axis of the tool spindle. A first index member and a second index member for supporting the workpiece are provided on the workpiece support body. Therefore, all surfaces of the workpiece excepting an attachment surface can be machined while being directed to a tool on the tool spindle.
