Abstract: An information processing device has a storage unit and a touch panel with a screen. The storage unit stores layout information indicating the positions at which various settings are displayed on the screen. The touch panel displays a setting selection screen on which the settings are arranged in the display positions indicated by the layout information, accepts selections of settings to be made, and displays help screens showing help information for each of the settings in an order corresponding to the display positions indicated by the layout information. The layout information can be altered to have the help information displayed in a desired order.

Abstract: A display control apparatus includes: an accepting unit configured to accept a predetermined operation from a user; a switching unit configured to switch between a first screen on which a display item is displayed in a first layout, and a second screen which includes at least one display item displayed with a first size on the first screen and on which the display item is displayed with a second size and in a second layout; and a display control unit configured to perform control such that, during the predetermined operation for switching from the first screen to the second screen, the first screen and the second screen are displayed while being superimposed without continuously changing the size of the display item in accordance with the predetermined operation, and upon completion of the predetermined operation, the second screen is displayed without the first screen and the second screen being superimposed.

Abstract: An electronic device with a display showing a user interface (UI) automatically adjusts the zoom level of a magnification region. The electronic device receives a request to magnify at least a portion of the display showing the UI. The electronic device determines the context that the electronic device was operating in at the time of the magnification request. The context is comprised of display parameters, environmental parameters, or both. The electronic device displays the UI at a zoom level determined based on user preferences. Upon detecting a text input condition, the device resizes and optionally moves the magnification region so that the resized magnification region does not overlap with the newly displayed composition interface window. The device uses an auto-snap feature when the content within the magnification region displays a second boundary upon scrolling the content within the magnification region from a first boundary opposite the second one.

Abstract: Using a bounding language to control or restrict the changes that can be made to contents of a structured document (e.g., a document encoded in the Extensible Markup Language, or “XML”), and also includes the bounding language and documents encoded according to the bounding language. A Document Type Definition (“DTD”) is defined as a “bounding DTD”, and one or more structured documents containing editing restrictions are defined according to this DTD. A processing component uses a structured document containing editing restrictions as input, and programmatically determines which fields of another structured document can be edited, which fields should be hidden, and so forth. By restricting the parts of the file that can be edited, users who need to do the editing are shielded from irrelevant details, and can carry out their task with less risk of making errors (and without needing to understand the details of the structured document markup language).

Abstract: In an approach for managing computing interruptions, a processor receives a computing interruption on a computing device. A processor monitors computing activity of a user on the computing device. A processor accesses user preferences, wherein the user preferences are based on an analysis of previous responses by the user to previous computing interruptions. A processor determines a minimum threshold, based on the computing activity of the user and the user preferences, wherein the minimum threshold identifies when a computing interruption is allowed to be presented to the user. A processor determines from the computing interruption, a sender and a context of the computing interruption. A processor assigns a ranking to the computing interruption based on the sender and the context of the computing interruption. A processor compares the ranking to the minimum threshold. A processor determines whether to present the computing interruption, based on the comparison.

Abstract: In one example, a presentation control device may allow a presenter, such as a teacher, to control interactions between audience members and the presenter. The presentation control device may display a presentation controlled by a presenter to a presentation audience as part of a group presentation session. The presentation control device may receive from the presenter a communication rule controlling an interaction between an audience member device and the presentation control device as part of controlling the presentation. The presentation control device may receive a communication regarding the presentation from an audience member in the presentation audience via the audience member device. The presentation control device direct the communication based on the communication rule.

Abstract: A computer system transforms data. The system displays a user interface including a data flow pane. A user builds a flow diagram in the data flow pane. Each node in the flow diagram specifies an operation: to retrieve data, to transform data, or to create an output dataset. The flow diagram includes a subtree having a data source node and transformation operation nodes. When the user initiates execution and the nodes in the subtree are configured to execute imperatively, the system performs the operations in the subtree sequentially as specified, retrieving data from the data source, transforming the data, and forming an intermediate dataset. When the user initiates execution and the nodes in the subtree are configured to execute declaratively, the system constructs a database query that is logically equivalent to the operations specified in the subtree and transmits the query to the data source to retrieve the intermediate dataset.

Abstract: A method is provided which includes displaying an output of an application on a touchscreen, receiving a user input for the application on the touchscreen, and determining the location of the received user input on the touchscreen. Further, the method includes generating an additional pop-up window for display on the touchscreen, and selecting a location for the additional pop-up window, where the selected location for the additional pop-up window does not coincide with the determined location of the user input for application. Further, the method includes displaying the additional pop-up window at the selected location for the additional pop-up window.

Abstract: Systems, methods and products are described that provide taskbar grouping by user task. One aspect includes identifying a plurality of applications open on a computing device; identifying one or more objects open in said plurality of applications; determining one or more objective measures of said one or more objects belonging to a particular task; and automatically grouping objects sharing one or more objective measures of belonging to a particular task together in a common taskbar icon of a display.

Abstract: An information processing apparatus includes a display section, a storage section, and a control unit. When accepting a predetermined gesture under a gesture acceptance control, the control unit allows the storage section to store window information indicating a size and a position of a window being displayed on the display section, creates an icon associated with a file being displayed in the window, and allows the display section to display the icon. When accepting a launch gesture on the icon under the gesture acceptance control, the control unit retrieves the window information from the storage section and allows the display section to display a window for displaying the file associated with the icon in the size and position indicated by the window information.

Abstract: Techniques are described for text extraction on graphs. In one example, techniques include receiving a graphical representation of data, the graphical representation of data being a format other than a spreadsheet or table; and receiving user input selecting a portion of the graphical representation of data; and generating one or more text analytics rules based on the selected portion. The graphical representation may be a pie chart or a radial sunburst diagram.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention can include a system and method for managing a plurality of data feeds to be loaded into a database. The method includes obtaining a script which specifies a query. The method includes executing the query against a source to extract a result set and consulting the script to determine a format for the data feed. The method also includes converting the result set in accordance with the format to create the data feed and transporting the data feed to be loaded into the database.

Abstract: Methods for performing a structured collection procedure by utilizing a collection device are disclosed herein, in which a collection procedure is initiated for performing one or more data collections for one or more data event instances occurring according to a schedule of events. Each data event instances comprises a data collection pertaining to a biomarker to be performed according to one or more conditions of an adherence criterion. Each data event instance is determined to be successful or unsuccessful on the basis of actual performance of the data collection and meeting certain conditions of the predetermined adherence criteria for the data event instance. Contextual information for successful data collections is generated and a data file generated for storing records relating to successful data collections.

Abstract: Techniques for exposing tabs in system task switchers are described herein. In one or more implementations, input is received to initiate a switch between different applications executed in a multi-application computing environment. In response, a system task switcher is launched to facilitate selection of and switching between the different applications. representations of the different applications are exposed via a user interface for the system task switcher. In the system task switcher configured to include functionality accessible via the system task switcher to exposed representations of individual tabs open in applications having tabbed user interfaces. Responsive to a selection of a particular application via the system task switcher, a switch occurs to the particular application in the multi-application computing environment. If a particular tab is selected, the switch occurs to expose the application UI with the selected tab being presented as the active/top tab with focus in the application UI.

Abstract: A transport facilitation system is disclosed that can facilitate pick-ups in connection with a transportation arrangement service. The transport facilitation system can initially receive a pick-up request from a user device of a requesting user and select a driver to service the pick-up request. The transport facilitation system can transmit an invitation to service the pick-up request to a driver device of the driver and receive a confirmation to service the pick-up request from the driver device. Thereafter the transport facilitation system can, detect, from the user device, a sensor pattern corresponding to a hailing action performed by the requesting user using the user device. In response to detecting the sensor pattern, the transport facilitation system can initiate a selected display pattern on a graphical user interface (GUI) of the user device to enable the driver to identify the requesting user.
