  • Patent number: 4784757
Abstract: Apparatus for the separation of solid materials of different specific gravities comprising a vertical separator tube having a material inlet port, a light material discharge port located above the inlet port, and a heavy material discharge port located below the inlet port; a holding tank having a top opening for receiving the solid materials to be separated and a bottom opening connected to the inlet port of the separator tube by a feeder tube; a pressurized water source, as by a pump; and a conduit connecting the water source to the separator tube at or below the heavy material discharge port. The holding tank is located at such a height as to allow water coming into the tank from the separator tube to reach a predetermined static level within the tank. The heavy material discharge port is located substantially below the water static level in the tank and adjacent the pressurized water intake so that heavy material may be rapidly removed by water moving at a high velocity.

  • Patent number: 4784582
Abstract: A pneumatically operated pump for dispensing controlled shots of paste material includes a disposal paste syringe tube having a ferrule with an axial dispensing hole centered in the bottom. An axial movable plunger extending through the length of the syringe normally fits into and blocks the dispensing hole, but when the punger is lifted a predetermined amount, the paste under a small pressure flows into the space and, when a driver returns the plunger to its normal position, the paste column is shot through the dispensing hole. The driver for moving the plunger includes a spring loaded diaphram center connected to the drive end of the plunger. Applied air pressure against the diaphragm lifts the plunger and compresses the spring. On release of the pressure, the spring rapidly drives the plunger back to its normal position to dispense a small column of paste.

  • Patent number: 4781538
Abstract: A rotation detecting device for a wobble plate type compressor comprises a front thrust race disposed on a flat end surface of a cam rotor and moveable therein. The front thrust race has two nail portions. A magnetic pickup is mounted on the cylindrical housing of the compressor and is positioned thereon opposite a portion of the locus of movement of the nail portions. When a nail portion passes opposite the magnetic pickup, a magnetic flux is produced. The magnetic pickup detects the magnetic flux and thus detects movement of wobble plate. Thus, the connection between the compressor and the driving source can be quickly interrupted in the event of compressor malfunction.

  • Patent number: 4778348
Abstract: A slant plate type compressor, such as a wobble plate type compressor, with a variable displacement mechanism for use in a refrigeration circuit is disclosed. Two passageways communicate between the crank chamber and the suction chamber in the cylinder block. A bellows is disposed in a first passageway and controls communication between the crank chamber and the suction chamber in the first passageway. The bellows operates in accordance with the crank chamber pressure. A control valve is disposed in the second passageway and controls communication between the crank chamber and the suction chamber in the second passageway in response to signal from an external sensor. This configuration enables the compressor to be operated at maximum capacity when the refrigeration circuit is turned on until the temperature in the passenger compartment of a car reaches a desired temperature without input from the pressure in the crank chamber.

  • Patent number: 4778351
Abstract: The unloader has a piston-operated valving element which opens and closes a compressor, air inlet housing, inlet port to load and unload the associated compressor. A control, pressured air supply is addressed to the piston to cause the latter to translate the valving element into port closure, and in the absence of the aforesaid supply, vacuum pressure and incoming air displace the valving element from closure of the ports. One spring seats the piston, and another moves the valving element into closure when the compressor is shut down, in one embodiment of the invention. A guide rod pilots movements of the piston and valving element. In the combination, the unloader is wholly confined within an aluminum die-cast air inlet housing.

  • Patent number: 4776260
Abstract: An improved pump is provided for pumping non-lubricating fluids at extremely high pressure while reducing galling and wear on components such as pistons and cylinders. The reduction in component wear and galling is achieved by modifying the piston-cylinder combination to provide a pressure area and a centering area that is axially displaced from the pressure area of the piston-cylinder combination. The pressure area of the piston-cylinder combination is modified by reducing the diameter of the piston or increasing the inside diameter of the cylinder or both to provide a 0.1 percent to 2.5 percent increase in clearance at the pressure end of the piston-cylinder combination than is provided at a centering area. The advantages of the invention are further enhanced by employing a release area disposed intermediate the pressure area and the centering area of the piston-cylinder combination.
