  • Patent number: 4749340
Abstract: A piston type compressor having a cylinder block in which a plurality of compression chambers permit a plurality of pistons to be reciprocated so as to compress a refrigerant sucked from a suction chamber formed in an end housing into the compression chambers through suction ports of a valve plate openably closed by a plurality of suction reed valves. The compressor also has a valve stop construction for stopping the movement of the suction reed valves when the valves reach the opening position thereof apart from the valve plate. The valve stop construction includes recessed seats formed in an axial end face of the cylinder block so as to permit a portion of the free end of respective suction reed valves to be first seated on the recessed seats, and to permit the remaining portion of the free end of the suction reed valves to be stably seated on the recessed seats. The gradual stoppage of the suction reed valves suppresses vibration of the valves and prevents noise.

  • Patent number: 4747752
Abstract: Improvements in the sealing area and dynamic operation of liquid ring pumps. The sealing improvement involves providing aspirating means between the cone inlet and the fluid adjacent the shaft on the inboard or high pressure side of the sealing area. In operation, the high pressure fluid that would tend to leak past the seal in prior art to contaminate the bearings or create a potentially dangerous gas explosion is harmlessly aspirated off into the gas being drawn into the pump. Further, in doing so, the sealing properties of the pump seal are enhanced. The dynamic improvement is directed particularly to duplex liquid ring pumps and calls for the rotor blades on one side of the central partition to be offset or out of phase from the mirror-image rotor blades on the other side of the partition.

  • Patent number: 4746276
Abstract: A dry valve for a gear pump includes a piston having a valve head and a piston head mounted on the opposite ends of a piston rod. The piston is selectively movable between an opened position, wherein hydraulic fluid is permitted to flow from a reservoir to a pumping chamber of the gear pump, and a closed position, wherein such flow is obstructed. A source of pressurized air exerts a biasing force against the piston head to selectively move the piston. An outlet port of the gear pump is connected through a feedback passageway to the dry valve. The feedback passageway communicates with the side of a chamber in which the piston rod of the dry valve reciprocates between the opened and closed positions. When the dry valve is in the opened position, the pressurized fluid from the outlet port of the gear pump exerts a side-loading pressure against the piston rod, causing a frictional force to be generated between the piston rod and the piston rod chamber which resists relative movement.

  • Patent number: 4746279
Abstract: The hose pump has plates forming the first pressure members and limbs which form second pressure members and which are actuated by the plates. The limbs are fastened at one end to a base plate, in such a way that second portions formed at the other ends are parallel to and near one another and the surfaces, facing one another, of the middle portions are inclined towards one another, in order to move the limbs to-and-fro by means of the projections of the plate. By means of resilient elements which on the one hand rest against webs in the frame and on the other hand against the plate, the plate is held in contact with the drive. As a result of these measures, the efficiency and the effect of the hose pump can be improved.

  • Patent number: 4743170
Abstract: Movement in a pressurized environment is transmitted to a non-pressurized environment by means of a strong magnetic coupling whereby linear movement of a magnet in a pressurized environment causes linear movement of a surrounding magnet which is in a non-pressurized environment. • Patent number: 4741675
Abstract: A hydraulic control system having a supply of low pressure hydraulic fluid and a hydraulic pump having a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet through which fluid is delivered at a high operating pressure when the pump is pumping at its capacity. A valve is placed in fluid communication with the supply of hydraulic fluid and the pump fluid inlet for permitting fluid communication between the supply of hydraulic fluid and the pump fluid inlet when in one mode of operation and for substantially preventing fluid communication between the supply of hydraulic fluid and the pump fluid when in a second mode of operation. A control means prevents the valve from assuming its second mode of operation until the magnitude of the pressure at the pump fluid outlet is below a predetermined pressure. The predetermined pressure is set to be substantially below the pump operating pressure.

  • Patent number: 4741674
Abstract: In a system with parallel connected compressors, a suction and discharge manifold arrangement for isolating an inactive compressor from the rest of the operating system. A check valve in the discharge line of the compressor prevents fluid flow back into the discharge port from a common system discharge line when the compressor is de-energized. A normally closed, pressure actuated valve in the suction line of each compressor prevents fluid from flowing through the compressor suction port when the compressor is inactive. The valve is connected to the compressor's discharge line, and opens in response to the discharge pressure developed when the compressor begins to operate. Pressure and oil level equalizing lines interconnect the compressor oil sumps, conveying oil between compressors and equalizing pressure in the oil sumps.
