  • Patent number: 5727296
Abstract: A tool carrier of a five-axis machine tool can be swivelled about a swivel axis which intersects a machining axis, about which a milling head is rotatable, in the region of the latter, at an acute angle which is preferably between 30.degree. and 60.degree., most preferably 45.degree.. As a result, during swivelling movements, only slight compensating movements, distributed over all the axes, are necessary, and yet the tool carrier can be kept short, so that deformations of the same remain small, which ensures high stability and great accuracy. In addition, large swivel angles of 90.degree. or more on both sides are possible without collision problems, which permits a great degree of adaptation of the position of the cutting edge to the workpiece surface and high surface quality as a result. The machine tool is especially suitable for milling turbine and engine blades as well as compressor impellers.

  • Patent number: 5722138
Abstract: A disc-shaped material is prepared by punching a high carbon steel plate or soft steel plate, and the disc-shaped material is fixed in position. An outer peripheral portion of the disc-shaped material is heated to a temperature of 400.degree.-500.degree. C. by means of a high frequency heater. The outer peripheral portion of the disc-shaped material is swaged to form a thickened portion by a swaging die and the thickened portion is then spun to plastically form a toothed gear to the outer peripheral portion of the disc-shaped material in two steps of coarse working and finish working by spinning dies. The thus formed toothed gear is further heated as occasion demands to a temperature of about 900.degree. C. for quenching.

  • Patent number: 5718027
Abstract: An improvement is accomplished in apparatus for the continuous production of tubing from tubing stock, and like, elongated, closed structures from appropriate stocks. The apparatus includes welding means for continuously welding the tubing stock to form the tubing, with the welding occurring at a welding station. Downstream of the welding station are stations for the further processing of the tubing after welding, which generate conditions adverse to interior coatings. In apparatus as described, the improvement comprises several inventive features. A spray head provides for spraying of coating, and fits within the tubing. An elongated, flexible lance locates the spraying means downstream of the processing stations which generate adverse interior coating conditions, by introduction of the spray head into the tubing interior upstream of the welding station, and after introduction, movement of the spray head into the desired downstream position.

  • Patent number: 5713115
Abstract: Described is an electronically regulated coiling apparatus for mattress and upholstery springs comprising essentially a wire draw-in, a wire guidance, a cutting device and a bending device for a wire to be processed, and due to short drive trains equipped with few transfer elements, in particular for the bending device, improved torsional rigidity and flexural strength of the particular drive train is attained. The electronically regulated servomotors used according to the invention can therefore transfer their movement directly onto the bending tools and the drive rollers by interconnecting few transfer elements. This permits bending a wire with decreased tolerances into a corresponding spring.

  • Patent number: 5706568
Abstract: An apparatus for loading, chamfering and unloading a ceramic or ceramic/polymer substrate for electronic components. An automatic part loader moves substrates in a row as a unit, using a frangible pin to push the parts. The part loader separates the first of the substrates from the rest, and a load pedestal pushes the first substrate up into a loading/unloading nest. The load pedestal is mounted on rods so that the substrate may move laterally to center itself in the nest. The nest then rotates to load the substrate onto a movable process pedestal. The chamfering apparatus includes a pair of spaced, rotatable cutting spindles for chamfering edges and corners on the substrate.

  • Patent number: 5702335
Abstract: A drill bit loader for loading a tapered shank of a drill bit into a similarly tapered recess in the end of a drill spindle. The spindle has a transverse slot at the inner end of the recess. The end of the tapered shank of the drill bit has a transverse tang adapted to engage in the slot so that the drill bit will be rotated by the spindle. The loader is in the form of a cylinder adapted to receive the drill bit with the shank projecting out of the outer end of the cylinder. Retainer pins prevent rotation of the drill bit in the cylinder. The spindle is lowered to extend the shank of the drill bit into the recess in the spindle and the spindle is rotated to align the slot in the spindle with the tang on the shank. A spring unit in the cylinder is compressed by the drill bit during its entry into the recess of the spindle and resiliently drives the tang into the slot in the spindle when the tang and slot are aligned.

  • Patent number: 5701648
Abstract: This fabricating system provides flux material coating in a continuous manner for a continuous welding electrode as well as for welding electrodes of various selected lengths. The system consists of a driving mechanism for supplying a continuous metal core to a pressure coating station. A straightening device is located between the initial driving mechanism and the coating station to ensure the metal core is in a perfectly straight form when entering the coating station. Multiple pressurized flux coating material bins are coupled to the coating station. The bins are automatically controlled such that when one bin has been depleted, a second bin will be coupled to the coating station immediately to continue the supply of coating flux material continuously to the coating station while the depleted bin is being replenished and pressurized for operation when the second bin becomes depleted.
