  • Patent number: 10632255
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for providing a plurality of injections from a fluid reservoir. The apparatus includes a fluid controller for controlling the flow of fluid from the fluid reservoir to a needle. An actuator selectively actuates the fluid controller to provide a dose of medicament from the fluid reservoir. The fluid controller also is configured to calculate the volume of fluid in the fluid reservoir required to provide a dose having a desired number of units of medicament for an injection. The apparatus may also include a detector configured to detect a characteristic indicative of the fluid pressure in the needle. The method includes selecting the number of units to be dispensed during an injection, automatically calculating the injection volume required to dispense the selected number of units based on the calculated unit volume and tracking the total number of units dispensed during a series of injections.

  • Patent number: 10549024
Abstract: A catheter and a method facilitate insertion into a blood vessel by providing a tubular wall section with a lumen having a longitudinally extending first volume and a second volume extending side-by-side and contiguous with the first volume. A sector of the tubular wall section is extended side-by-side and contiguous with the second volume of the lumen and is constructed of a material enabling the sector to be collapsed diametrically and nested within the first volume so that the section is provided with limited diametric dimensions. Upon insertion of the section into the blood vessel, the sector is expanded to extend diametrically outside the first volume, thereby rendering the section configured with expanded diametric dimensions and the lumen with a total cross-sectional area for accommodating a desired relatively high volumetric flow rate of fluid through the catheter.

  • Patent number: 10493250
Abstract: A dilator comprises a guide extending through a tube, and a slidable sleeve exterior to the tube, such that a slit in the tube extending from a first end of the tube to a second end of the tube, opposite of the first end, is closed by a force applied via the slidable sleeve. When closed, the slit does not interfere with the tube being used as a dilator to dilate tissues of a patient through which the guide extends. When opened, the slit allows the tube to be placed onto the guide or removed from the guide.
