  • Patent number: 10441725
Abstract: A dose setting mechanism for a drug delivery device includes a primary drug delivery assembly and a secondary drug delivery assembly. The dose setting mechanism includes a primary dose dial component for setting a dose in the primary drug delivery assembly and a secondary dose dial component for setting a dose in the secondary drug delivery assembly. The primary dose dial component and the secondary dose dial component are configured to rotate during dose setting. A gear mechanism is configured such that in a first phase of the dose setting, rotation of the primary dose dial component is transferred to the secondary dose dial component and such that in a second phase of the dose setting, the secondary dose dial component is decoupled from the primary dose dial component such that rotation of the primary dose dial component is prevented from being transferred to the secondary dose dial component.

  • Patent number: 10434247
Abstract: A catheter insertion device (18) includes a housing (12) with a base (14), a catheter (28), an introducer needle (30) and an actuator (26) mounted within the housing. The catheter (28) and needle (30) are coupled to the actuator (26) and movable between a first position where the catheter and needle are retracted within the housing and a second position where the catheter and needle extend from the housing, and where the needle retracts into the actuator when the catheter and needle reach the second position. The actuator (26) has a detent (84) that engages a first recess (76) to require a predetermined force to depress the actuator (26) which is greater than the force necessary to slide the actuator (26) to the second position where the detent (84) engages a second recess (80) in the housing (12) to hold the actuator in the deployed position.

  • Patent number: 10398857
Abstract: A patient line dislodgement detection device and method. An example device includes a body having an entrance and an exit. The entrance and the exit are each configured to receive a tubing line therethrough. Applying a force to a tubing line causes the body to restrict fluid flow through the tubing line, thereby indicating a dislodgement condition. An example method includes receiving a tubing line through a dislodgement device. The method also includes restricting fluid flow by the dislodgment device through the tubing line in response to application of a force on the tubing line. The method also includes detecting a dislodgment condition based on restricting the fluid flow through the tubing line.

  • Patent number: 10376684
Abstract: A medical port includes a hub having a body forming a hub chamber for containing a fluid, and a proximal opening to the hub chamber for receiving a medical implement. The port also has a valve member, a first radial fluid channel, and a second radial fluid channel. The valve member is located within the hub chamber, has a radial portion, and closes the proximal opening when the medical port is in a closed mode. The first and second radial fluid channels are in fluid communication with the hub chamber when the medical port is in the closed mode. The radial portion of the valve member restricts fluid communication between the first radial fluid channel and the hub chamber when the medical port is in an open mode.

  • Patent number: 10342968
Abstract: The present invention verifies a method of reducing skin irritation (particularly, cumulative skin irritation) caused by transdermal administration of a local anesthetic using iontophoresis, and provides an electrode pad for relief from a puncture pain which is safe not only at single administration but also at repeated administrations. The electrode pad comprises a base sheet; an electrode placed on the base sheet; an adhesive sheet placed on the base sheet and having an opening, within which the electrode being exposed; and a medicament reservoir containing a local anesthetic and placed in the opening of the adhesive sheet while being in contact with the electrode. An inner peripheral surface of the opening of the adhesive sheet and an outer peripheral surface of the medicament reservoir are prevented from coming into contact with human skin while contacting with each other, and thereby skin irritation is reduced.

  • Patent number: 10335525
Abstract: A breastshield unit for use in a device for expressing human breastmilk employing underpressure with a breastshield body and a media separation device which separates expressed milk from an underpressure source arranged in the breastshield body, the media separation device having a through-channel which connects first and second openings of the breastshield body. The through-channel has a through-opening, which is enlargeable when subjected to an underpressure from outside. The through-opening is formed by walls which, when subjected to an underpressure from outside, are movable away from each other, largely without stretching, in order to enlarge the through-opening. The breastshield unit permits media separation with minimal dead volume, and with optimized comfort for the mother.

  • Patent number: 10275572
Abstract: A fluid infusion device and related operating methods are presented here. An exemplary embodiment of the device includes a drive motor assembly, a force sensor associated with the drive motor assembly, and a reservoir cavity that accommodates fluid reservoirs. An exemplary operating method for the device obtains force measurements for a reservoir seating action of the drive motor assembly, where the force measurements indicate measures of force imparted to the force sensor during the reservoir seating action. The method continues by determining that a vent in the reservoir cavity is blocked, based on an analysis of the force measurements, and by initiating corrective action for the fluid infusion device in response to determining that the vent in the reservoir cavity is blocked.
