  • Patent number: 9672589
Abstract: In order to display a digital drawing on a display screen of a terminal device at a scale reduction compliant accurately to actual dimensions, a CPU of a tablet-type terminal device displays drawing data of a digital drawing on a display screen at a predetermined scale reduction. At this time, the CPU references attribute information of the data of the digital drawing, compares it with a display density of the tablet-type terminal device, and displays a design drawing on the display screen at a selected fixed scale reduction. In this configuration, the drawing data at a scale reduction compliant accurately to actual dimensions can be displayed on the display screen of the terminal device. Since the display compliant accurately to the actual dimensions is achieved, a user can measure distances and dimensions by directly using a triangle scale on the display screen.

  • Patent number: 9672587
Abstract: An image is modified for display on a rigid curved wearable display device. Positioning data is received from position sensors on the rigid curved wearable display device. The position sensors provide positioning data that describe, in real time, a physical three-dimensional orientation of the rigid curved wearable display device relative to a field of vision of a wearer of the rigid curved wearable display device. The position sensors further determine a present viewable area of the exterior display surface based on the physical three-dimensional orientation of the rigid curved wearable display device relative to the field of vision of the wearer. An image on the present viewable area is modified based on the physical three-dimensional orientation of the rigid curved wearable display device relative to the field of vision of the wearer, thus generating a modified image that is displayed on a predefined area of the exterior display surface.

  • Patent number: 9514541
Abstract: An image processing apparatus includes a detection unit that detects that a center position of an area corresponding to at least a portion of an object moving within a display screen has moved across an object detection line segment set in the display screen. A setting unit sets an inhibition region, where the detection is inhibited, along a frame of the display screen to provide both (i) a non-inhibition region where the detection is not inhibited and (ii) the inhibition region, together with each other in the display screen, after setting the inhibition region. The non-inhibition region is a remaining region in the display screen, other than the inhibition region. The detection unit detects that the center position has moved across the object detection line segment set in the non-inhibition region.

  • Patent number: 9495067
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for providing a three-dimensional user interface in an electronic device are provided. An editing mode of a three-dimensional user interface screen is executed in which a plurality of content items is displayed in a three-dimensional space. It is determined whether a content item from among the plurality of content items is moved in the editing mode. When it is determined that the content item is moved, it is determined whether the content item overlaps a portion of an area of another content item from among the plurality of content items. When it is determined that the content item overlaps the portion of the area of the other content item, the content item is moved a minimum distance along a Z-axis direction so that the content item no longer overlaps the portion of the area of the other content item. The Z-axis direction indicates perspective information.

  • Patent number: 9311747
Abstract: When generating an approximate right prism model, an approximate right prism model generating unit 14 expresses a hierarchical relationship among original right prism models and approximate right prism models which can be generated by using a tree structure, and generates only a right prism model existing in certain and higher hierarchical layers from among approximate right prism models respectively brought into correspondence with the nodes in the tree structure. Therefore, a three-dimensional virtual environment can be rendered at a high speed and with a high degree of quality even when no large-volume storage unit is installed.

  • Patent number: 9250445
Abstract: A multiple-pixel-beam retinal display (MPBRD) system comprises a near-eye or on-eye display system which delivers any one or more of 2D or 3D images or data to at least one of a user's retinas using a bundle of simultaneously—and differently—statically directed light beams. Each individual beam is of low or no divergence and each angularly fixed beam of the bundle originates from a different corresponding source-image pixel and is delivered through a display-system exit aperture each at static, fixed angles. The bundle of differently statically directed, individually low- or no-divergence pixel beams can be overlaid upon a user's eye-entrance pupil.

  • Patent number: 9224368
Abstract: Systems and methods for merging three-dimensional models, such as a three-dimensional range sensor-based model and a three-dimensional camera-based model, are provided. According to aspects of the present disclosure, an enhanced volumetric merging technique can be used to merge the three-dimensional models. A plurality of voxels can be constructed for a three-dimensional space. A first distance field can be propagated based on the range sensor-based model in an extended margin between the range sensor-based model and a range sensor viewpoint. A second distance field can be propagated based on the camera-based model for voxels in the extended margin. A cumulative distance field can be determined based at least in part on the first field and the second distance field. The merged three-dimensional model can be constructed from the cumulative distance field using, for instance, a suitable meshing algorithm.

  • Patent number: 9218685
Abstract: Systems and methods for rendering 3D maps may highlight a feature in a 3D map while preserving depth. A map tool of a mapping or navigation application that detects the selection of a feature in a 3D map (e.g., by touch) may perform a ray intersection to determine the feature that was selected. The map tool may capture the frame to be displayed (with the selected feature highlighted) in several steps. Each step may translate the map about a pivot point of the selected map feature (e.g., in three or four directions) to capture a new frame. The captured frames may be blended together to create a blurred map view that depicts 3D depth in the scene. A crisp version of the selected feature may then be rendered within the otherwise blurred 3D map. Color, brightness, contrast, or saturation values may be modified to further highlight the selected feature.

  • Patent number: 9214128
Abstract: An information display device includes: an image display unit that displays an image according to an orientation of a display screen; a terminal posture detection unit that detects a posture of the device using an acceleration sensor, an angular velocity sensor, and a geomagnetic sensor; and a display direction determination unit that determines whether or not the posture of the device changes, and determines the orientation of the display screen. In the case where the display screen is substantially horizontal and the posture of the device changes, the orientation of the display screen is determined so that, when the device moves by a predetermined angle or more with respect to the orientation (reference orientation) of the display screen before the determination of the posture change, a side of the device at the predetermined angle or more from the reference orientation corresponds to the top of the display screen.

  • Patent number: 9183642
Abstract: A method of controlling graphical data compression levels for a series of images of varying area in order to maintain a consistent image quality, irrespective of image area. An image of a first area is compressed using a first compression value. When the first image is decompressed for display, it is associated with a first image quality. When a new image with a different area is generated, it is compressed using a new compression value derived from the first compression value. The new compression value is suitable for delivering an image quality, when the new image is decompressed for display, substantially the same as the image quality of the first image.

  • Patent number: 9140607
Abstract: A method for color correcting an input color image having input color values adapted for display on a reference display device having a plurality of input color primaries to account to provide reduced observer metemaric failure on a narrow-band display device. A metamerism correction transform is applied to the input color image to determine an output color image having output color values in an output color space appropriate for display on the narrow-band display device. The metamerism correction transform modifies colorimetry associated with the input colors to provide output color values such that an average observer metameric failure is reduced for a distribution of target observers, and is formed responsive to a distribution of perceived color differences for a set of input colors that are determined for a set of target observers.

  • Patent number: 9129345
Abstract: An architecture for processing a data stream forming matrices of pixels of dimension Nl×Nc. The processing architecture includes processing units and interconnection means making it possible to transfer the data stream between them. Each processing unit includes a control unit, neighborhood processors capable of carrying out the instructions from the control unit and a neighborhood storage unit enabling each neighborhood processor to access a neighborhood of dimension Vl×Vc. The invention makes it possible to extend the dimension of the neighborhoods accessible to the neighborhood processors by a coupling of two or more processing units. To this end, the architecture includes a storage manager enabling the neighborhood processors of the coupled processing units to access adjoining neighborhoods of pixels, and means for communication between neighborhood processors allowing for an exchange of data relating to the different neighborhoods.
