  • Patent number: 8588136
Abstract: A system and method for SSS detection under carrier frequency offset in an orthogonal frequency-division multiple access (OFDMA) downlink channel. A processor receives a signal sample that includes a transmission on a primary synchronization signal (PSS) and a transmission on a one secondary synchronization signal (SSS). The processor determines a correlation “P” of a first symbol transmitted in the PSS of the signal sample to a first known symbol at each time “t” of time increments k of the signal sample and a correlation “S” of a second symbol transmitted in the a SSS to a second known symbol at each time t-.5/7 msecs. The processor receives a candidate phase rotation of ?i from a set of “i” candidates and determines a correlation “Cmax” over the time increments k representing a maximum amplitude of a combined correlation of S and P, with P rotated by ?i.

  • Patent number: 8582510
Abstract: A method and apparatus for supporting a random access using a random access channel (RACH) are disclosed. Each of a plurality of wireless transmit/receive units (WTRUs) sends a random access request to a base station on an uplink RACH preamble. A RACH Response, sent by the base station, is received by each WTRU. A control signal portion of the RACH Response indicates the location of the RACH Response message portion. The RACH Response control signal comprises multiple control channel elements (CCE), where each WTRU is allocated a respective CCE to provide its unique RACH Response control signal. The WTRU is configured to locate its intended CCE from among the multiple CCEs sent by the base station.

  • Patent number: 8547988
Abstract: A wireless combination time, frequency and spectral shaping communications method that transmits data in convolution unit matrices (data frames) of N×N (N2), where generally either all N2 data symbols or elements are received over N spreading time intervals (each composed of N time slices), or none are. To transmit, each data element is assigned a unique waveform which is derived from a basic waveform of duration N time slices over one spreading time interval, where each basic waveform has a data element specific combination of a time and frequency cyclic shift. At the receiver, the received signal is correlated with the set of all N2 waveforms previously assigned to each data element by a transmitter for that specific time spreading interval, producing a unique correlation score for each one of the N2 data elements. The scores are summed over each data element, and this summation reproduces the data frame.

  • Patent number: 8537700
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are provided for identifying and selectively controlling reverse-noise contribution on a per-access terminal basis. In an embodiment, an access node provides wireless service to access terminals, and measures reverse noise rise (RNR) during at least one turn of a round-robin process involving access terminals taking turns transmitting data or taking turns not transmitting data. The access node thereby determines a respective RNR contribution of at least one access terminal based at least on the measurement of RNR taken during the access terminals' turns. A high-contributor set of one or more access terminals is identified and then instructed to reduce reverse-link transmission power.

  • Patent number: 8526313
Abstract: A communication system extending Ethernet Operation and Management (OAM) Loopback Message (LBM) and Loopback Replay (LBR) functionality into a time division multiplexing (TDM) domain has a first interworking function (IWF) of an Ethernet network that transmits an Ethernet Operation and Management (OAM) Loopback Message (LBM) having a first type length value (TLV) field. The first IWF controls the first TLV field to indicate that a connectivity test is to extend beyond the Ethernet network. The communication system further has a second IWF of the Ethernet network that receives the Ethernet OAM LBM and interprets the first TLV field. In addition, the second IWF performs a TDM connectivity test across a TDM connection in response to the Ethernet OAM LBM and based on the first TLV field and transmits a reply for the Ethernet OAM LBM to the first IWF, the reply prompted by the LBM and comprising data based on the TDM connectivity test.
